  1. Focusing more on the body now. I was able to find the gravel guard I was looking for on a 1/25 scale ERTL die cast. I had to remove part of the lip on the wheel opening and along the rocker panel to make it lay flat.
  2. Sweet looking 64. Loving the paint.
  3. You may be able to get a replacement from Revell. http://www.revell.com/support/index.html
  4. It's short for I appreciate it. I most often hear it used on NNN, the Non News Network.
  5. Stunning. My hat's off to anyone that takes on a Pocher. Excellent job.
  6. Irregardless. It's not a word. "Ask your doctor about..." why is your doctor withholding information? "Tell your doctor if you're pregnant" Shouldn't your doctor know this? "Have you or a loved oned been injured or died..." It really bugs me to hear a newscaster say "preciate it". Stop being cute & give me the news please.
  7. Sorry for the confusion. It's the gravel guard I was referring to. I think Mike was paying a little too much attention to the models "hand". I went ahead and bought a 1/25 scale ERTL die cast. Ran me about $27 shipped but it'll be quicker then me trying to scratch build it. As Ray mentioned, the protrusion at the leading edge of the fender would be my challenge. Either figure out how to replicate it or sand down the lip of the wheel opening which I'd rather not do. Now I just hope the scale of the ERTL die cast matches the Revell kit.
  8. This thread should have come with a warning. And to think some guys spent their time, money and energy to build these. To each his own I guess but some of those are just down right hideous.
  9. That should be one nice Corvair when your done. I'm curious as to what engine you'll be using as well. Here's a guy that built a mid engine Corvair: http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2011/02/14/hemmings-find-of-the-day-mid-engine-corvair/
  10. I'm sure many of you may know this site but if not it's worth a look for reference, inspiration, shopping or just to browse a variety of cool rides.http://bringatrailer.com
  11. Nice job on the w123. I love seeing the old tanks still on the road. Makes me miss my w124 wagon.
  12. Never been a fan of '57 Fairlanes but I dig this.
  13. Very nice looking '55. Definitely a classic and you've done it justice.
  14. Ha! Just wanted to see who's paying attention. Looks like there are a couple of die casts that have what I've learned is the Gravel Guard. The 1/24 Franklin Mint and the 1/25 ERTL Bel Airs. That might be an option if I can score one of those at a good price. Sure shelling out no less than $30 for such a small part is hard to justify but I could use the rest of the car to customize. Maybe someone would be interested in casting the part.
  15. That's what I was afraid of. I'll give it a shot & if I can't get it right I'll go without it. Thanks!
  16. Does anyone know if any 55 Chevy kits include the chrome piece just behind the front wheel well or if there are any aftermarket parts?
  17. Cool. I've shaved everything off. I was concerned about any difference in size between the PE parts and the plastic. Also the molded in scripts would probably make the PE stand too far away from the body. Thanks for the advice.
  18. When adding photo etched emblems and scripts is it better to sand off the modelded scripts before painting and replace with the PE or to paint and place the PE over the originals? Thanks.
  19. Oh wow! Great imagination and execution.
  20. Added foil which I'll probably redo.
  21. With the interior about 90% done I can now move on to the body. Started with the radiator using the one out of the 2004 GTO and the on from the Bel Air kit.
