I say go for it. It's not too difficult as long as you have the correct dimensions and get your cuts right. Thanks for the compliments guys! For me the big challenge was the side glass but I think I have that solved. I used a clear plastic package with four sides and a flat top and made a cut just where the plastic curves. It took many tries before i got it close to correct. The tint was also a challenge for me. Since the top of the glass is curved, 1:1 tint film didn't hold too well and there were a few air bubbles. That stuff works best with heat but of course plastic doesn't. I settled on spray paint that's used for tinting tail lights I wouldn't suggest using it on your 1:1 but it worked ok for this application. It made the glass a little cloudy but rubbing it with Weiman's helped a bit.

1955 Bel Air
Perspect Scale Modelworks replied to Perspect Scale Modelworks's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Richard. Thanks Greg. I decided against the wash, I didn't want to mess up the paint and have to start over. I think the console came from the 56 Ford. The 4X4 in the background is the Tahoe snap kit modified into the 2 door version. Since it's a snap kit I kind of cheated on the suspension. I posted some pics on the WIP here. I lifted the Revell H2 with a little more detail. Glad you like. Thanks! -
I want to give this a try but have a couple questions. I've read that it's best to add the foil after primer and then paint. Do you sand over the foil after each coat of paint or after the final coat? What about the clear coat? And I've noticed sometimes polishing over foil will create a black residue. How would that effect the paint job? Thanks

Revell 1960 Chevy (Refreshed Photos)

Ha! Just trying to up my game and run with the big boys on this forum. Actually, I normally don't get too "obsessive" with my builds but I'm building the Bel Air for someone's lady friend so I want to get it just right. -
Revell 1960 Chevy (Refreshed Photos)

Looking really nice so far. I had a similar issue with the 2011 issued Revell/Monogram 55 Bel Air convertible. I removed material from the chassis, firewall, underside of the interior bucket, the tabs behind the package shelf that connect the tub to the trunk area of the body and the tabs on the frame where the body rests and the bumpers connect to. Even with all of that there was still a slight bit of the frame showing below the body but I decided enough was enough and moved on. I certainly feel your pain. -
That is a beautiful rx7. Great job.

Does anyone know where I can get a 67 Galaxie or LTD? R&R says theirs are discontinued. I want to replicate my dad's 67 LTD and figure I can convert a Galaxie if I can find one.
