  1. yup, put your base color on [color you want the stripe], let it dry/cure fully, then tape your stripes and clear it, then let it dry a bit and do your final color. let that dry, then un tape it. although this is a car, that's how I did this, diamond dust silver, inca gold and flaming orange
  2. I like it! great looking combo
  3. coming along nice, you're going to have a good looking couple of trucks when you're done.
  4. you never cease to amaze! that is over the top cool! well done sir!!!
  5. i use whatever houshold degreaser is on sale, or in front of me at the time, lol. most of it is the same stuff, and does the same job. if the paint isn't too old, it should come off quickly, once it starts to 'lift' hit it with an old tooth brush to help loosen more paint. if it's old paint, may take a few weeks to get off.
  6. Bill, another amazing build! that thing is just too cool!!
  7. this is coming along great! nice work so far. this is a cool project
  8. Chuck, looks great so far. I bet you build a tank, and the other two will turn up right under your nose. or better yet, look for something else and you'll trip over the 'missing' tanks
  9. well, the trailer is as done as it's going to get for now, needs minor touch up and a few decals, but for now it's in the case with the rest of the fleet
  10. don't let a few comments ruin the experience, this is a great place to come, and it's a great hobby. hate to see a great hobby get tossed aside over a comment on the internet, if nothing else, keep building, it's one of my last links to sanity.........
  11. that was well worth the effort, that looks great! nice job.
  12. I love it! looks sweet.
  13. hey all, was asked by a friend if a replica of a 68 Beaumont was possible. so far some friends have clued me into model car garage as having the PE set, but short of me surfing the entire internet, any one know of a resin conversion for the 69 kit, or know of a full on resin body with proper bits and parts? any help on this is appreciated, thanks, ~tbill
  14. thanks everyone, I'm happy with how it turned out. I was a little unsure when I first cracked open the kit and saw the hood....did not know how it was going to go at that point, and then the colors I chose seemed a bit different but it seems to have worked out ok. now I am wishing I did the trailer green...........lol.
  15. wow, you are amazing! the build, the background and the photography are all top notch! excellent stuff
  16. ah, got ya. I will have to remember that, that's a great idea, thanks.
  17. well, it's done. wasn't sure my green colors were going to go together, but I think it turned out pretty good looking. I have a gavel trailer about 3/4 done that will be paired with this rig, will update pic's when that gets completed. so, here it is,
  18. Jeff, that's a great idea, my only problem with doing that is figuring the height of the whole mirror, as I am building each of these kits for the first time, and the destructions are vague as far as placement, I'd hate to get the mirror bracket too low on the door. Anthony, yes I do, are you hinting at pinning parts? thanks for the ideas guys, I did get them together and mounted on the truck. I went with Carls super glue suggestion, and opened a white western star kit to use the cab for reference. I started by gluing the mirror itself into the C frame, then glued that to the lower bracket, then added the upper bracket. before it 'set', I let it tack up, then set it on the other cab [had the cab propped up on it's side so it was 'level'] so I could get the mirror assembly close to a proper fit, then let it dry. here is where I ended up, I managed to finish up the truck today, still need to complete the trailer, but look for an under glass thread soon....
