  1. Carl, hadn't thought of using super glue, might give that a try. Sam, helping hands? what is this? some sort of 'clamping' device? or do you have your kids hold the parts until glue is dry?
  2. Terry, fantastic work. that is one tough looking rig! great details as well, keep it up
  3. Corey, great haul of kits! some interesting stuff in that stash
  4. I will try to make a point of bringing them home Monday, and measure it up. funny part is, I had them at home for forever during my mack build, as I used them to scale the frame extension for the logging trailer, then forgot to take them back to work...... my mind goes from 100mph to slack jawed mouth breather in a matter of seconds, lol.
  5. Hobby Lobby, quite possibly Gods gift to hobbies lol, relax, kidding folks. I love the place myself. they have what I want, they have stuff I didn't know I wanted. it's a great store in my opinion. I have yet to be bludgeoned by religious stuff, and not even sure the store I frequent plays music. when I go there, I am on a mission, hit the kit isle, then wander looking for clearance items [have scored a ton of deals], then wander the rest of the isles looking for junk that will work for other than intended use [i.e. how can I adapt this to model building?] I gotta admit, I must not have hit the 'religion' isle yet, as all the stuff I see there is pretty cool, and they seem to cover a lot of hobbies. my biggest complaint [as a chevy fan] is they have too much ford stuff again, just kidding, the selection of metal signage they have is way cool, and every now and again, all that stuff is 50% off. for me, the place is a win/win. your mileage may vary.
  6. Danny, took 7 re-certs and passed them all keeps me master certified for a total of 20 years now. also have light diesel cert [although I don't really know jack about them, and don't work on them much, but had to have the cert for work]. Tom, I am a paint junkie, for color selection.....I usually get 2 cans of each color [just in case I need to put a body in the pond], and yes, I get several variations of color as well. never know when panzer gray is gonna click with a paint scheme
  7. I forgot to bring my calipers home this weekend,[read this at work, and was gonna bring them home, but as it's Friday, I was in a hurry to get out the door] if you can wait a couple days, I can measure my kit and pass along the measurements.
  8. ....dear revell, I am missing some wheels and tires, kit calls for 8, I have 6, what gives? thanks for any help.......
  9. ok, I need some help here. these mirrors are a pain in the butt. any ideas on how to assemble them without wrecking my paint work? so far, I have one mirror glued to the C frame, and have the rest of the parts for that mirror cleaned up and chrome 'scraped' in the proper areas for gluing, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out a way to get them together without wrecking something. any thoughts??
  10. Cliff, we are a bunch of similarly minded folks here, we love models, building them, buying them, trading parts and offering help and advice. everyone here is willing to help each other out in anyway we can. it's not charity, it's paying it forward, as i am sure most of us here have got stuff from other members just because we asked for, or mentioned we were looking for something. trust me, look around here and it'll soon become apparent that we all help where and when we can. almost forgot to mention, welcome to the forum
  11. looks great KJ, and congrat's on the new place
  12. this was waiting for me when I got home today,
  13. wow, that looks superb! great weathering job.
  14. how we coming along? or did i miss the under glass post?
  15. fantastic! love the wheels and tires, absolutely beautiful!
  16. cool find. if the freightliner is a 'day cab', it's probably the SD version [single drive], latest re-issue is the DD [dual drive] with the sleeper cab.
  17. finally I can see it! that looks terrific, great color combo!
  18. oh boy, you will be amazed at the stuff they have. as mentioned, scour the isles, you never know what you will find. I seem to be at 'ours' every other week........
  19. getting closer, now have lights, horns and door handles and exhaust on. cab and hood are mounted now as well. these mirrors are going to test me though, 5 parts to them, and tiny to boot. the mirrors will be saved for another day I think...... thanks for following along. edit: it's funny how my cell phone camera skews things sometimes, the air horns are actually straight.....
  20. wow, ya, you got some dust! i'm thinking paint whatever you are going to paint, set it outside, and let mother natures sand paper smooth it out [sand storms]. again, you were not kidding when you said dust!
  21. this thread brought back a memory of high school actually. me and two other kids were into models, somehow we talked the librarian into letting us put built models in a display case that was built into the wall to 'advertise' the library, which was in a main hallway of the school. we all had different versions of the 'swamp monster' monster truck. as I remember it back then, once other kids saw what we built, they were digging it. I think we had the display for a month.
  22. welcome from central NY great forum here, and welcome back to building
  23. well, as I said, I do my own thing, so I cannot wait to see the looks on faces when I start to build the doll house I have stashed! seriously, have you folks seen the cool stuff for doll house builds in a Hobby Lobby??? not to mention the cool free printable stuff on line for all manner of accessories! I don't play with dolls, but the houses and all the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH you can get for them intrigues me. if it piques my interest, i'm doin it [as mentioned, if it's legal, and it doesn't hurt anyone ], and I don't care what anyone thinks about it.
  24. not knowing the whole story on this [as mentioned, can be many sides to this] I will say this, I don't know what would be worse, losing the car altogether [initial theft] OR the finding it and not being able to get it back [after all the time that passed].
