So far, it’s been pretty good, only issue I had was with one side piece and the corresponding rub rail. The two parts are together on their own sprue, the sprue was ‘tweaked’, but I got it sorted out without too much difficulty. -

Paint peel: How to get rid of it?
tbill replied to conchan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
At a guess, you were too far away, and didn’t spray enough paint. If possible, wet sand what you’ve got to get it back to smooth , dry it off good with paper towels, and let it sit for a day ( unless you’re confident it’s completely dry), then take your spray can and spray ‘quick and close’, start to spray ahead of and beyond the body. Quick passes 3-4 inches away from the body. I do one side, do the other, once across the grill part of the body, once across the tail lamp area, then with a side to side motion, I trunk to roof to fender tops. Takes a few tries to get a good feel for it, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll get pretty smooth results ever time. Hope this helps. -

Using Dupli-Color Engine Paint
tbill replied to Chevy II's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I’ve used tamiya primer, duplicolor primer and the no name black primer from lowes under the engine paint with no issues. -

Thanks guys , I love these kits, and this particular kit was just begging for a lift axle and headache rack. Should be starting the trailer soon….. -

Oddly enough, I think my wife feels the same about my model building, this time of year my weekends are spent holed up in my model room, haha… -

Making progress, cab is pretty much done, so that got installed, rack is now permanent, added a pogo stick and some deck plate as well. I’ve decided to go with different tool boxes on the frame, rather than the plain square ones I had planned to use, these have steps on them, I’ll probably add some grab handles to the rack as well. Should have more to show tomorrow -
Well, tragedy averted. I guess I over thought the issue, as usual. I figured before I got cutting, I’d try the heat idea, I have a butane soldering iron that has a ‘hot air’ tip that I use for shrink wrap, so I fired that up and hit the pipe with some heat, it responded way better than I had anticipated, given the thickness of the plastic, I thought it would take a lot to get it warm enough to bend, but it didn’t take much, didn’t even phase the paint. Lessons learned.

So, in semi typical fashion, I have a mis alignment of what I deem a major component. I’m building a big rig, and have somehow botched an exhaust joint, keep in mind, this is about 200 parts in, and everything is painted and glued together ( cab is not glued to frame yet, but is in proper position)I’ve built this kit a couple of times , and haven’t had this issue, I think I see where the problem originates, ( my poor alignment of an exhaust hanger) but need some advice/thoughts on how to rectify it without wrecking everything around it, see attached pic.. the cab and hood alignment is pretty spot on, exhaust stack install is pretty spot on as well, just need to bend the lower exhaust pipe, thoughts, advice, and asking why I didn’t quadruple check the basics questions all welcome.
