Dave McFly replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars

WIP: Rusty Wallace's "LAst call" 2005 Charger
Dave McFly replied to David Thibodeau's topic in WIP: NASCAR
thats not a picture of a model engine, either A: you stole the real engine from the race team or B: you perfected the worlds first SHRINK RAY ! -
06 Charger Chrysler should have made
Dave McFly replied to t.m.resin's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
*Columbo voice* "Just one MORE thing" which kit is the donor kit for making a charger coupe? is it the testors, or the revell 'blingmobile' kit? -
DUDE! where did you get that model? is it a real kit, or resin, details man details!

What do you drive?
Dave McFly replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
MY TURN! 2004 Monte Carlo LS coupe. bought new in 2004 car has 130k miles on it (all freeway) i have had the oil changed 2-3 times a year. other than new disc brakes (pads and rotors) front and back and new tires, it is all original inside and out. it has one of the nicest engines ever put into a GM product the series 3400 V6 rated at about 180-200hp depending on year of car. The car has a set of SS style dual exhausts (cat converter then splits into 2 pipes with 2 mufflers with exhaust tips that poke out under rear fascia). The car has every option except onstar, leather, and moonroof. This is what I WANT: 1980 malibu classic coupe, i had one identical to this one in high school. sadly it was totaled only a year after i had it almost totally restored . I WILL have another some day, but it has to be a coupe, not a sedan, i would not mind the wagon version though . -
That car looks sick in that dark metallic silver color. i am getting tired of seeing ferraris i red and yellow and black, this color really 'pops'. I have YET to see the MV movie, I am more of a fan of the tv version, and the car used in it .

http://www.minicraftmodels.com/New05_4.html they sell for about 39 to 44 at my LHS. anybody pick them up, i kinda like the gangster getaway car and the police car. gotta love the decals for bullet holes for the bodies and the 'glass'. the cheesy cut out pictures of the people are the only thing i not care for .

I got the 49 mercury from revell last weekend, and in the mail today i got a dodge magnum srt8 and a sealed batman forever batmobile .

yeah they are, but to be honest the only thing that makes them caddy caps is the caddy decals . I would rather use the hubcaps from the 59 eldorado kit .

anybody know where i can get a model of THIS style cord? i wanna do this car badly to add to my tv/movie model collection. Id even settle for die cast

Another semi grail found
Dave McFly replied to ismaelg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree, I had a B/C coupe and a B/C cabriolet and the level of detail, id say if was bought today would be skill level 4! just the fact that the lug nut studs poked through holes on each rim and would not be seen when the hubcap went on was cool right there! -
"The 1957 Ferrari 250 GT California. Less than a 100 were made, my father spent 3 years restoring this car, it is his love, it is his passion...." "It is his fault he didn't lock the garage." VERY nice model, I have always wanted to do a model of the 250GT 'California' but could never find a kit in that scale. I ALMOST bought the very nice 1/18 scale hot wheels die cast, but passed, i really want a glue kit of it. this is my ALL time favorite ferrari, next to the Testarossa .

although i am NOT a huge fan of the MGTF (more a MGA and MGB fan ), I DO like your work, as the other guy said, any more detailed and it would be leaking oil . I agree, that is NOT a model, but you just developed the first working SHRINK ray .

i belive it is for attaching an image, but i do not know if it is one per post or not. I have a photo hosting account so i never used it. you should get one both photobucket and imageshack are free. another one is very popular is fotki, i prefer photobucket myself .

i am also a fellow bulider of tv and movie cars. but alas i don't have pictures of my previous builds. here is one i did as a quickie. the police car from RoboCop. the kit is box stock painted flat black with flat gray interior. the lightbar came off of the Impala snapper police car kit but painted the chrome parts black.

is the frame seperate from the floorboards? I am planning on making this into the Merc in the movie COBRA. Anybody know where i can get a hood scoop like on the 1/1 car? the 1/1 car is a 50, is there THAT much of a difference between a 49 and 50?

I just picked up a amt '06' camaro from walmart in the clearance isle . I am planning on doing my take on the 09 indy pace car. A very nice photoshop version of the convertible camaro concept .

Car & Driver to have a model 10 best
Dave McFly replied to Dave McFly's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
if your having a problem with the link just go to www.caranddriver.com and click on the 10Best icon in the middle of the right side of the screen. or you can email them at 10BestModel@caranddriver.com instead. -
I was reading the Sept 07 issue and found this (also from the C&D website) 10Best-Model Car Collections Here’s a chance to show off those swell miniature cars you keep on a shelf. We don’t want stories of how your mother or wife got tired of dusting your “toys†and sold them at a garage sale for 25 cents apiece—we want to see high-quality photos of your mini-fleet. The rest of the categories, and how to enter. click on the blue underline text to submit an entry via email for each category.

the model kit has the same wheels as the 1/1 scale Impala Cop Car (black plastic rims with separate chrome centers with the lug nut detail).

I too am a member of the "take apart die cast models super detailing them and putting them back together" club I took a 1/18 scale 70 1/2 trans am from AMT that i took apart. I changed the interior from blue to black, added more detailing to the dash and stuff. took the engine apart and painted it in CORRECT Pontiac Engine Blue and wired it. i put the model back together and finished it off with bare metal foil. I did not change the color as the car was already painted in Lucerine blue with a white stripe that looked great (plus where would i ever get the stripe and TRANS AM markings in 1/18 scale in decal form ).

Revell 300C SRT-8 and SRT-8 Touring Wagon
Dave McFly replied to Zoom Zoom's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I was in Canada last week and they had a 300 Touring (magnum with 300 front clip) in Ontario. It was silver Hemi with dark grey leather interior. I gotta tell you I too agree they should sell this in the USA, but Chrysler thinks that with the Durango and its 'twin' the Chrysler Aspen a 300 based wagon would not sell well here . The one I saw was IDENTICAL to this one
