  1. LOL!! I hear ya on that. Heck I built one as a kid because they were pretty cool kits for us beginners back in the day. Back then I could give a rip less about seams and misaligned parts. lol
  2. I just love stuff like this and find myself in the same boat as Daniel. It would be sensory overload for me and I'd end up wanting to superdetail like.......everything. lol From what I could see it looked like you did a great job with that layout. Looking forward to seeing how you tackle the whole balance issue on this Widow Dave.
  3. My thoughts exactly for why I haven't delved into railroad modeling or armor modeling for that matter. Something else that you mentioned caught my eye and that is if you're going to build an A-10 that the newly released Academy version is EONS ahead of the Monogram offering. I've heard (and seen) so many good things about the assembly being much easier and there is more detail OOB. It's worth a look if you want to check it out. 4. I'll be back to building autos soon fellas. For now, I'm hangin' out in the "All The Rest" WIP section. Switched to aircraft for a bit.
  5. Hey Noah. These kits are a dime a dozen so they shouldn't be hard at all to find bud. Thank you for the great comments. Thank you Matt. I appreciate the good word Buddy. I'll get back to you on the slow thinner question and I apologize for being so late to answer. Thanks Dann!! Been a while since I've seen you around buddy. Hope all is well. Thank you Ken. Thank you for stopping in and checking her out and for the comments Bob! Thank you Christian. I was looking to do something a little different with this build aside from the usual magazine in the seat gig. 'Preciate it Louis!!
  6. YEESH!! Bad pictures....."handful of oops".....?? I don't know where both of those are but I sure as heck don't see any. I just got through going through this build and have to say that I am just floored. Truly remarkable build and a great bar to build to IMO Steve. My hat goes off to you man.
  7. I do love me a good Luftwaffe build and the 109 is such a great subject that's pretty much well known amongst aircraft modelers. I'll be pulling up a chair for this one.
  8. Such a good job on the weathering of this build and absolutely LOVE the duct tape on the quarter glass!! A true reminder of my days growing up in a one-horse town where repairs like this were common.
  9. Great idea in setting everything up, and I hear you on the landing gear concerns with the extra weight involved. Have you considered the white metal landing gear set by Scale Aircraft Conversions? Here's a link for you if you're interested Dave: Scale Aircraft Conversions Metal Landing Gear
  10. I've been working like crazy on the fuselage and wing seams and FINALLY......after a few weeks......I've got some black primer on this bad boy. I've just got the fuselage set on the wings right now because I've still gotta install the interior and the engine before joining the two. After that I'll have some more seam filling and sanding work to do but wanted to minimize handling the whole thing with the interior and engine installed. From there will be a gray marble pattern and then we're off to color coats.
  11. Thanks Rob!! I just recently finished this section all up with the addition of the engine mounting framework, 30mm cannon and ammo boxes at the rear of the engine. Slooooooooowly coming together.
  12. Masking things like open cowlings and landing gear bays always proves to be a bit of a challenge but you've managed to simplify this quite a bit Dave. You're right too......after a while of sanding and filling it's tough to get any sense of accomplishment but things start to change after the paint is put on. This is turning out well bud...very well indeed.
  13. LOL!! What a jump between 2 and 25 lbs of lead shot!! I've seen this stuff used for counterweights in aircraft builds before and it works great. Watching for the next updates Dave.
  14. I've seen plenty of these aircraft get built up and you're doing a phenomenal job of bringing this one together very cleanly Dave. Good work man.
  15. It's been a minute or two since I've been in on this thread and now that I finally made it back, I'm glad I dropped in to check it out. I aint EVER seen this level of detail on any auto build dude. Impressive doesn't even begin to cover what I'm seein' here. Frickin' leagues ahead of where I'm at Codi.
  16. I've been working on this part now for the last couple of bench sessions in the morning. Got the opening cut out and working on fitting everything in right now.....
  17. I'm a sucker for F-16's so seeing these built is a good thing Allison. This looks to be a 1/72nd scale build?
  18. Whoa HO HO!!!! Looky what we've got here!!! I'll be dialed into this one Dave! First off, you are tha frickin' MAN for taking this old kit on and then making it look as good as it does so far bud. I've seen many a builder throw this kit into the trash can by now so my hat goes off to you for sticking with this one bud. Secondly, (and this is conjunction with my first point) this is some master class foot work you're doing to this thing. You're correcting pretty much ALL of the issues with this troublesome kit and doing a great job of it at that. I'm in on this.
  19. This is looking GREAT so far Mozzi! By the way........the title of your thread for this car is hilarious.
  20. Wow that's pretty cool to have that in the kit. A great idea too Lee!
  21. I've done just as Keith has mentioned with the bits of paper towels with the Tamiya tape. There's a fella that I know that uses Tamiya tape only cut into different shapes and sizes to accomplish this on his detailed out builds. He uses foam in his pits but the paper towel trick works just as well. In example: He'll leave things like the wing root gun bays open and paint the details in later.
  22. So the build process goes onward with test fitting the engine, firewall and ammo boxes into the fuselage and test fitting the lower wing into place to make sure everything is going to go together. Yeah.....I can work with this:
  23. LOL!! Thank you Simon. I'll put a few details on there. I dunno how much but I'll invest a fair amount of time up front. Thanks Rusty! Great to have you along buddy.
  24. Still lookin' good from my angle Mark and the Coke cases in the back are a good touch.
