  1. These trucks are just bad "A" IMO and you've done a great job with this one Scott! Good lookin' ride with some good weathering buddy.
  2. Man I hear you there Dave. I had an Fw190D-9 that I was building about 10 years ago and I cut the nose off and replaced it with an entire engine/ nose assembly from an Aires detail set. I can't tell you HOW many times I test fit that whole nose assembly into place.....it must've been fifty times. Then, when the day of reckoning came, and it was time to adhere the whole nose module onto the completed airframe......nothing wanted to fit! What tha hay??!! I wrestled with that for around 2 hours and then all of a sudden.....everything just clicked right into place.
  3. Given all of the hard work that you've put into this build, it was a good move to make the wings fit a bit better. That looks A LOT better brutha Dave.
  4. The last couple of days at the bench have been spent on re-working the engine cowlings. These are two piece panels that are hinged in the middle to give two folding leafs to gain more access to the engine area on both sides of the engine. Dragon has put both leafs together to make a single opening panel. What I did was cleaned up the injector pin marks on the inside of the panels and cut about 80% of the way through the join of the two panels to give the proper open look of these panels. Untouched panel on the left and the modified panel on the right. I started by making passes through the join line with an X-Acto knife and when I got most of the way through the panel I used the troweling tool to make a V into the plastic to where the bottom panel could be opened and glued to the top panel with a clean joint.
  5. Lookin' good on this one and love the whitewash on this Pat.
  6. No problem at all Rob and I totally get it. Looking forward to seeing more of your work on this one.
  7. Thank you Carl. Let's just hope I can keep up the good pace. lol
  8. That is ALWAYS a problem for me......except with Tamiya kits. lol
  9. You're at a point now to where it's not too late to consider using Quinta Studios 3D decals for the instrument panel. Quinta doesn't offer a set for the Revell kit but they do for the Eduard, Tamiya and Zvezda kits and they might be able to fit that instrument panel area that you've got there. Check it out:
  10. Hey man.....we're birds of a feather (no pun intended) .....it's what we do bro. Most of these aircraft builds do have quite the adventure behind them in the building process. lol
  11. Thanks for taggin' along Mike and for the comments pal. 'Preciate it Rob. That's the base prep work and the color will go over this in thin coats for what's called color modulation and is supposed to replicate a worn effect in the paint.
  12. This is looking good so far Rob. There's a good number of parts to that interior that I don't remember seeing on typical Revell kits before. Is this the kit that you have?
  13. Thanks Dave! I'm learning alot from you with that Widow build of yours man!!
  14. Thanks for taggin' along James! Jump on in here with it bud. We'll help ya out.
  15. No color applied yet but believe it or not there's been a ton of work going on as of late. The wings are now mated with the aircraft and after a LOT of working them in with the fuselage by way of sanding and filling, I'm about done except where the wing roots join the fuselage at the top of the wing at the leading edges (you can see the putty at the wing root). All I have to do is work that in and that part will be complete. I also got the nose piece attached to the front of the aircraft and after looking at the prop and spinner out of the Dragon kit and not liking what I saw, I went with the ZM prop assembly and spinner. This was a massive improvement because the spinner in the Dragon kit is the wrong shape and size and the blades on the ZM kit are proportioned more accurately than those that the Dragon kit offers. Next up, engine cowling and landing gear door prep and then I think we're off to masking the engine & cockpit off for color.
  16. I'll echo those comments, Dave. Some good progress on this one and I like the natural sag you've given those tracks Pat.
  17. What a great idea on both the ladder and the fella on the stand at the tail area Dave. You're negotiating every single trouble area on this build in a VERY good fashion and you've got me sittin' on the edge of my seat for each update.
  18. Man, that turned out pretty dang good Sean. Good work on painting this one up!
  19. This is frickin' COOL!! Well thought out and executed Doug!!
  20. And the great work continues on!!! Looks like there's a light at the end of the tunnel now and it aint a train Dave. lol Will be watchin' for more buddy.
  21. I hear you on waiting for final bits to wrap a buildup. I'm glad that you were able to use some of my techniques in your build here Steve and I've learned a thing or two from watching your builds here over the last couple of years myself so right back at you on the word of thanks brother. Black interiors to me have always been the trickiest ones to get right but after studying photographs of and in looking at real world black interiors I started noticing that they look great because everything is a different luster....so.....I applied that to my modeling and it worked out great for me. I'll be looking forward to the finishing shots in the Under the Glass section of this modern art masterpiece Steve. What a beauty man.
  22. Keep hangin' around and you'll get there John.
  23. Made some good progress by getting the engine and cockpit assembly installed into the fuselage. We're down to the nitty gritty of getting the wings and fuselage joined to where minimal filler and sanding are involved.
  24. I've now applied the marbling to the black primer and will be working on getting the cockpit and engine into place so I can marry the wings and fuselage and do all of the necessary body work. A little backwards from the normal building and painting processes but I wanted to minimize handling with the pit and engine in place.
