  1. Thanks for taggin' along James! Jump on in here with it bud. We'll help ya out.
  2. No color applied yet but believe it or not there's been a ton of work going on as of late. The wings are now mated with the aircraft and after a LOT of working them in with the fuselage by way of sanding and filling, I'm about done except where the wing roots join the fuselage at the top of the wing at the leading edges (you can see the putty at the wing root). All I have to do is work that in and that part will be complete. I also got the nose piece attached to the front of the aircraft and after looking at the prop and spinner out of the Dragon kit and not liking what I saw, I went with the ZM prop assembly and spinner. This was a massive improvement because the spinner in the Dragon kit is the wrong shape and size and the blades on the ZM kit are proportioned more accurately than those that the Dragon kit offers. Next up, engine cowling and landing gear door prep and then I think we're off to masking the engine & cockpit off for color.
  3. I'll echo those comments, Dave. Some good progress on this one and I like the natural sag you've given those tracks Pat.
  4. What a great idea on both the ladder and the fella on the stand at the tail area Dave. You're negotiating every single trouble area on this build in a VERY good fashion and you've got me sittin' on the edge of my seat for each update.
  5. Man, that turned out pretty dang good Sean. Good work on painting this one up!
  6. This is frickin' COOL!! Well thought out and executed Doug!!
  7. And the great work continues on!!! Looks like there's a light at the end of the tunnel now and it aint a train Dave. lol Will be watchin' for more buddy.
  8. I hear you on waiting for final bits to wrap a buildup. I'm glad that you were able to use some of my techniques in your build here Steve and I've learned a thing or two from watching your builds here over the last couple of years myself so right back at you on the word of thanks brother. Black interiors to me have always been the trickiest ones to get right but after studying photographs of and in looking at real world black interiors I started noticing that they look great because everything is a different luster....so.....I applied that to my modeling and it worked out great for me. I'll be looking forward to the finishing shots in the Under the Glass section of this modern art masterpiece Steve. What a beauty man.
  9. Keep hangin' around and you'll get there John.
  10. Made some good progress by getting the engine and cockpit assembly installed into the fuselage. We're down to the nitty gritty of getting the wings and fuselage joined to where minimal filler and sanding are involved.
  11. I've now applied the marbling to the black primer and will be working on getting the cockpit and engine into place so I can marry the wings and fuselage and do all of the necessary body work. A little backwards from the normal building and painting processes but I wanted to minimize handling with the pit and engine in place.
  12. LOL!! I hear ya on that. Heck I built one as a kid because they were pretty cool kits for us beginners back in the day. Back then I could give a rip less about seams and misaligned parts. lol
  13. I just love stuff like this and find myself in the same boat as Daniel. It would be sensory overload for me and I'd end up wanting to superdetail like.......everything. lol From what I could see it looked like you did a great job with that layout. Looking forward to seeing how you tackle the whole balance issue on this Widow Dave.
  14. My thoughts exactly for why I haven't delved into railroad modeling or armor modeling for that matter. Something else that you mentioned caught my eye and that is if you're going to build an A-10 that the newly released Academy version is EONS ahead of the Monogram offering. I've heard (and seen) so many good things about the assembly being much easier and there is more detail OOB. It's worth a look if you want to check it out. 15. I'll be back to building autos soon fellas. For now, I'm hangin' out in the "All The Rest" WIP section. Switched to aircraft for a bit.
  16. Hey Noah. These kits are a dime a dozen so they shouldn't be hard at all to find bud. Thank you for the great comments. Thank you Matt. I appreciate the good word Buddy. I'll get back to you on the slow thinner question and I apologize for being so late to answer. Thanks Dann!! Been a while since I've seen you around buddy. Hope all is well. Thank you Ken. Thank you for stopping in and checking her out and for the comments Bob! Thank you Christian. I was looking to do something a little different with this build aside from the usual magazine in the seat gig. 'Preciate it Louis!!
  17. YEESH!! Bad pictures....."handful of oops".....?? I don't know where both of those are but I sure as heck don't see any. I just got through going through this build and have to say that I am just floored. Truly remarkable build and a great bar to build to IMO Steve. My hat goes off to you man.
  18. I do love me a good Luftwaffe build and the 109 is such a great subject that's pretty much well known amongst aircraft modelers. I'll be pulling up a chair for this one.
  19. Such a good job on the weathering of this build and absolutely LOVE the duct tape on the quarter glass!! A true reminder of my days growing up in a one-horse town where repairs like this were common.
  20. Great idea in setting everything up, and I hear you on the landing gear concerns with the extra weight involved. Have you considered the white metal landing gear set by Scale Aircraft Conversions? Here's a link for you if you're interested Dave: Scale Aircraft Conversions Metal Landing Gear
  21. I've been working like crazy on the fuselage and wing seams and FINALLY......after a few weeks......I've got some black primer on this bad boy. I've just got the fuselage set on the wings right now because I've still gotta install the interior and the engine before joining the two. After that I'll have some more seam filling and sanding work to do but wanted to minimize handling the whole thing with the interior and engine installed. From there will be a gray marble pattern and then we're off to color coats.
  22. Thanks Rob!! I just recently finished this section all up with the addition of the engine mounting framework, 30mm cannon and ammo boxes at the rear of the engine. Slooooooooowly coming together.
  23. Masking things like open cowlings and landing gear bays always proves to be a bit of a challenge but you've managed to simplify this quite a bit Dave. You're right too......after a while of sanding and filling it's tough to get any sense of accomplishment but things start to change after the paint is put on. This is turning out well bud...very well indeed.
  24. LOL!! What a jump between 2 and 25 lbs of lead shot!! I've seen this stuff used for counterweights in aircraft builds before and it works great. Watching for the next updates Dave.
  25. I've seen plenty of these aircraft get built up and you're doing a phenomenal job of bringing this one together very cleanly Dave. Good work man.
