  1. Thanks Gator and John. I've been all over this thing like a rat on a cheeto filling and sanding and more filling and sanding on the body, roof and the wheel tub area of the chassis. Posting pictures would be a complete waste of time as it all looks about the same but this is the point at which I have to spend most of my time ensuring that this is all going to come together without looking like "Frankenstien". There'll be a payoff in the end I know but I sure wished this part went quicker because I can't stand body work.
  2. Man Dave............do I ever know that feeling. It seems that no matter how much planning I do or how hard I try I always tend to forget something. Looking forward to seeing you work your magic here and as always......she's still looking killer!
  3. Nice progress James. Can't wait to see all of this imagination and creativity come together.
  4. I'm not much into the low rider cars but THIS...........is outstanding detail and modeling right here!!!! Thumbs up on this one Shawn!
  5. Meant to comment on this yesterday and my forum session was interrupted. You really captured a realistic look with this one Charles. Great attention to detail and masterful paint work.
  6. Wow! I really like your color choice for this ride Jeremy. Are those decals on the tires and if they are where'd you get 'em at?
  7. Thanks guys. Dave: Well..............this is the point where the build starts telling me what to do next. I've got a few days to think about it while I work on one of my aircraft builds.
  8. Ok folks I managed to get the rear wheel tub mod completed. I've still got to relocate the spring perches and use a different rear axle and suspension but I'll get to that a little later. Here's some progress pics of the wheel tub and center section mods........... Before: During..... I also managed to clean up the header exit cut out holes on the sides of the engine/ transmission cutout area. Still have some sanding and filling to go on the tubs but it's minimal. I'm also still working on the clean up around the rear wheel opening on the body. It'll be a bit before I post any substantial progress due to still being in the idea and development part of the build.
  9. I like all the surgery that's going into this truck!! Nice work so far.
  10. Thanks guys ! Today I graphed in the L/H fender skirt and got it glued in. I also cut out the rear wheel tub section so I can widen the wheel tubs and narrow the center section. I've got some work to do if I want to pull all this off is all I've gotta say. The paint I want to use is being mixed up at the dealership that I used to work at so that should be ready in the coming week or so. Of interest to me was the fact that it's acrylic paint that's used in the body shops now. Here's where I'm at as of now:
  11. Will be watching for continued progress....................
  12. This is lookin' wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiild!!!! Yes!!!!!!!!! I like it!!
  13. That's a good lookin' color combo James.
  14. You see, those were my thoughts when I decided to graph in the wheel wells. Hopefully I'm through with all the cuttin' so I can start buildin'................no............wait...........I've still gotta cut the rear flooring between the rear wheel tubs in order to widen them. Arrrrgh!!! It's all good though. I like these custom builds because they tend to tell me where to go with the build. lol Thanks Carl. Glad to have you on board.
  15. Man this thing is just KILLER!!!
  16. It's a feeling that's all too familiar. lol Thanks Jeremy. I've got the R/H side graphed in. I still have to do some body work and trimming but it's in there. I've got it mocked up here with my spun aluminum Weld Draglites. I may have to order a 5 lug version with a deeper offset in the back for that deep dish effect. Although initially not trued up , I'll get it all ironed out in the body work process. Yeah...............this look suits me a whole lot better!
  17. Hope you're not sold out cuz I'll take one too! Nice progress.
  18. That interior and engine work is looking sharp Jeremy!! Flat out spankin' it here!
  19. Gaaaaah!!! You'd be crazy to quit now.
  20. Thanks James, Richard and Dave. I've given thought to that Dave. I'll see how it all pans out and I'll make a decision from there. And this was going to be a lightly modified OOB build................whatever!!! lol
  21. Will be looking forward to seeing you in here with this Ray. Ok....the details. I picked this kit up a couple of weeks ago because it was IMO just too dang cool. This one will be a sideline build when I either get stumped on or waiting for paint to dry for my current aircraft project, in which right now I'm waiting on paint to dry and trying to figure out some fit issues with it so I figured I'd start this thread. I'm not going to get as crazy as I did with my '54 Chevy just because I don't want something that in depth. But I do want to have some fun with this one so here goes. Der Beetle Bus: Now when I opened up the box I looked at the body and knew right away that this body was not going to fly at all. The wheel base is ridiculously short for my tastes and it would look more like a cartoon van than an actual vehicle. Here's where we start: and I just couldn't leave it like that so I bought another kit and went to work: Cutting the bodies at just the right points yielded a wheel base that I could live with Top view of the difference it made: and the side view : and so it starts. Here's the set up I want to go with. Slicks and skinnies with my favorite kind of wheels. The ol' Weld Draglites: This..................is more like it. Body work and smoothing things out will commence shortly. I have to lengthen the roof and the chassis to follow suit with the body so stay tuned..............
  22. Man that's clean! Good lookin' Torino Ludwig.
  23. You'll learn a lot here John. Just build, post progress photos in WIP's and watch. Welcome aboard.
