  1. The paint on this build is spectacular! Great work on this!!
  2. I saw this car over in the favorite paint jobs thread and couldn't get over 1.) the shade of blue and 2.) the workmanship that went into it. What is that color???
  3. That is a sharp car Tom! That interior is the cat's meeeow!
  4. How did I miss this ????? You don't see that one every day. Man that thang sure is purdy Jim!!!!
  5. The amount of detail you're putting into this build is nothing short of staggering Darren. Hell, you were building this when I was on my 56 F-100!! Lookin' forward to more.
  6. Thank you Stephen.
  7. Dave: Thanks and yes sir it is a catchy lil' kit. Hopefully I'll be able to follow suit with the chassis and roof about as easily as the body. lol Ray: Thank you as well and ............go for it! Seems like a lot of folks are building this one.
  8. I actually bought one more since that last post.........
  9. I picked this kit up a couple of weeks ago because it was IMO just too dang cool. This one will be a sideline build when I either get stumped on or waiting for paint to dry for my current aircraft project, in which right now I'm waiting on paint to dry and trying to figure out some fit issues with it so I figured I'd start this thread. I'm not going to get as crazy as I did with my '54 Chevy just because I don't want something that in depth. But I do want to have some fun with this one so here goes. Der Beetle Bus: Now when I opened up the box I looked at the body and knew right away that this body was not going to fly at all. The wheel base is ridiculously short for my tastes and it would look more like a cartoon van than an actual vehicle. Here's where we start: and I just couldn't leave it like that so I bought another kit and went to work: Cutting the bodies at just the right points yielded a wheel base that I could live with Top view of the difference it made: and the side view : and so it starts. Here's the set up I want to go with. Slicks and skinnies with my favorite kind of wheels. The ol' Weld Draglites: This..................is more like it. Body work and smoothing things out will commence shortly. I will have to lengthen the roof and the chassis to follow suit with the body so more on the way.............
  10. Thanks again for all the supportive comments folks. They're very much appreciated. I will say this , I have a newfound respect for anyone who can build one of these old Revell kits and "make it work".
  11. This build and the video were both A-OK in my book. Video was truly fun to watch.
  12. Nice effects Dave! This thing is really turning out to be one cool and wild ride so far. Looking forward to more....... BTW I went out and bought my second Beetle bus kit. My thoughts are focused on lengthening the van body some. Where it goes from there I don't know yet but I've got something in the works after watching all this come together.
  13. Wow! Thanks for all the great comments guys. I dunno what my next project will be but I hope it's half as much fun as this one was to build.
  14. Good lookin' build Tim. Good luck at the show.
  15. I freekin' love this! These were a dime a dozen on the streets when I was a kid. Awesome and unique build Al!!
  16. I'm with Rob on the interesting idea aspect. Great idea and execution. Keep up the building and the good work.
  17. Nice build Jesse. It's a true wonder that the decals held up that well being that old. Wow!
  18. Nice!! Really nice!!!
  19. You know , your photography is every bit as good as that beautiful build you pulled off John. Outstanding work from you yet again and I still aspire to get as good at Alclad as you bud. It's a great show you put on I can tell you that.
  20. When I was a kid I was drawn to the Revell Street Demons line-up and ended up buying them all. I only built three of them back then and this was one of them. It's funny how when the hobby follows us into adulthood we see how much we either overlooked or just how bad the kits were back then. But hey, we were having fun back then right? lol . I took this project on in January of this year and although this kit does suck, I've had a great amount of fun with it and learning opportunities left and right over the course of the last 8-1/2 months. Although I was drawn to this car as a kid (and still am), as an adult I didn't care for the gasser stance for a "street" car and wanted something a little more jazzed up and to have some fun with it. Sooooooo, I created a dropped down party mobile. I mean .............with all that room in the back the possibilities were endless. I started out with my eyes being a lot bigger than 1.) my ability and 2.) what there was room for back there. Over the course of the build while my vision/ goal was always the same, I had to modify the ideas somewhat and my abilities got a tune up but I'm very happy with the end result. I won't go over every detail of the build but I will say that there were 7 different kits and a lot of aftermarket involved in its making. What really blew me away was the fact that there weren't any headlight bezels/ buckets (and there still aren't to this day with the latest release of this kit!!! ) and the hood hinge cut outs at the back of the engine compartment just make you want to slap the original kit engineers. I'd like to thank all of those who followed along and commented/ encouraged me throughout this creation. You guys are da bomb. The kit: Glamour shots: and then there's what's inside:
  21. Thanks Jesse , Stephen and Dave. This puppy is now in the "Under Glass" section. I'd like to thank everyone who visited and commented, egged on, jeered, encouraged and helped me out along the way. You guys are alright in my book.
  22. Bueller.................................Bueller.......................................Bueller? Just checkin' in.
  23. This looks freekin' evil!! Really awesome work thus far and thanks for the lead on the carburetors. Wow!
  24. Great ideas in motion with this build.
