  1. I'd like to say a big thank you in one shot here to everybody that commented and then: Ed: It took a lot of back and forth decision making on the wheels. I thought of Centerlines, Welds and even some skinny fronts and wide rears with Rally wheels before I decided on the combo here. Dave: Stance was right there with the wheels in terms of where I wanted it and I've never gone all out on modifying before to achieve a look like this. Kevin: I'll be in on that Challenger build....rest assured. Carl, Bruce and Jeremy: You guys encouragement is always appreciated- Jeremy it's great to have you back around these parts. Rich: I know what you're talking about and to tell you the truth I've thought the same thing. I usually do that before I mount up the tires on the wheels. I may give it a shot with the wheels on there using some Tamiya Smoke.
  2. Me likey!! Great to see you back around Jeremy!!
  3. That's a good lookin' project right there!
  4. Had to test fit the body today with a day after the lacquer coat had been laid over the decals. I do have some work to do as this coat didn't turn out as pristine as the first one did. I've got to wait a few days before I can start sanding and smoothing this coat out to come back over it with hopefully one last coat. Here are the fruits of 6 months work so far:
  5. That sounds good on the Challenger. Is this a continuation of that blue beauty you were on last year?
  6. I really like this build.........................................ALOT! All this work is gonna pay off in dividends JC. Excellent planning and execution!!!
  7. Lookin' good so far Paul. Got anything in mind for the wheel decision yet?
  8. Outstanding skills with the paint!!! Wow!
  9. Nice lookin' set of wheels there Brandon.
  10. Kevin: They've got a couple on ebay Dave: Thanks buddy! I applied the decals onto the other side this morning. I'll clean up the body from all the residue and shoot another coat of gloss in the next day or so.
  11. Looks good Brandon! Can't wait to see it with the clear on it! That Blazing Black is a lighter shade of black than I'm used to but given the metal flake paint you're using it should work good.
  12. Cool car! Will be keeping an eye out for this one Brandon. That Wet Look gloss lays down a really good lookin' gloss but don't freak out when you're spraying it on because it will horrify you to look at all the bubbles that'll pop up. My current build looked like it had the dang measles at first! I thought sure I was going to be throwing the whole body in brake fluid to strip the paint job. I went back to my paint drying booth with my head hung low about 5 minutes later and every thing had leveled out and it looked perfect. Just a heads up that whatever disaster it looks like after the initial coating with that stuff that it'll end up being ok.
  13. I've always liked the idea of the Halloween trucks. I really like the idea of a Christmas vehicle............ You'll have to elaborate on the details. Will be watching where you go with this one Kevin.
  14. A guy can never run out of good things to say about this build. When I say- "When you're done with this you should submit the blue prints to a major model manufacturer"- I'm not kidding one bit. Hell, I'll be the first guy in line to buy one!
  15. Thanks Richard and Kevin! That truck in the background is another "Street Demon" kit that I bought off of ebay. This one was already built to this point and will be used for spare parts and the other one that I bought is a complete unbuilt kit. I'm trying to decide on how I want to set it up for the "updated build". You guys remember this one right?
  16. Good show Randy!! Man whadda show!
  17. Thanks Carl! I dunno if I'll chance that. lol I broke out the decals that I had done over at Speedway decals. If you need decals for anything then I suggest this guy. All I've gotta say is .....WOW!! These things were a breeze to put on.
  18. I remember that one. I'll be looking it up shortly.
  19. Thanks Tony! Taking the body to Kansas with a sanding kit to fill the boring times was what paid off. Kevin: Yeah man the milky spots a lot with HUGE bubbles scared me to death at first but it levelled out a few minutes later. At first I was already resolved to throw it in brake fluid. Jeremy: It's great to see you on the forum lately and thanks man. What are you building buddy?
  20. Thanks Kevin! I'm using Model Master "Wet Look" Lacquer in the rattle can delivery system.
  21. Thanks Carl and Rich. I'll be using the original for this one Carl. Got the gloss coat on this morning. When I initially started spraying the gloss coat what seemed like the perfect horrorific nightmare was unfolding as I saw nothing but bubbles. I all but resolved myself to a treatment in Purple Power or brake fluid when all the sudden all of bubbles just went away and left me with this: . With the reflection of my camera and hand in the gloss finish I couldn't help but snap a couple of shots off:
  22. Lookin' good so far Pat. Great ideas goin' here and I do like that paint finish. It's a really good feeling to take a kit that we have built years ago and watch it all transform into something like this.
  23. That's a good lookin' replication there. Thumbs up!
  24. Nicely done!
