  1. It stays that way down here. Hot and muggy..................and windy. It could be worse though. Where I'm originally from it's unbearably hot with NO wind. Had to strip the door panels and had to repaint the hood and rear door. I had a dissimilar paint issue with the panels and I sanded down to the primer on the edges with the hood and rear door. As of now the paints on the door panels and body parts and now just waiting cure out times........
  2. Looks good so far Mark. Are you going out of the box with this one as far as suspension and powertrain are concerned?
  3. Lookin' good so far Jeremy! I used the chassis of this kit in my '54 Chevy and I was happy with a lot of the fit. BTW it wouldn't be the first time that I did something by accident and it ended up looking better. lol Watching for more progress on this one.
  4. You know.....I thought of something this morning. Although it is humid here, no other paint or gloss I have in the arsenal behaves like this. Will have to dispense it to see if anything different happens. Today's progress: I shot a primer coat on the door panels on Tuesday, a Tamiya X-7 Red coat on Wedensday and a Gloss coat on yesterday. Before today: Still gotta pick out the details and BMF the bottom scuff plate door/ window cranks and the insert strip on the door panels but I managed to 1.)strip the hood, dry and primer that ,2.) strip the rear door and repair not only the bottom of the door but the top where it broke on me this morning???!!!!! Wow! and 3.) paint the center insert of the door panels. The boo-boo at the bottom of the door panel wont be seen as the seat will take care of hiding that. Overall progress in one photo shot for today:
  5. Nice work. I like the strip and the bee back there.
  6. This is just waaay too cool! Really enjoying this build Kerry.
  7. Looks really good so far JC!
  8. This makes me want to build another Challenger!! lol
  9. Nice work so far!
  10. Thanks Dave! Yeah I live here in good ol Corpus Christi. If that aint the definition of humidity then I don't know what is.
  11. Man I just can't get over the effect here Rich! Award winning stuff!
  12. That's some wild colors and a beautiful build Tom!
  13. This is just waaaay too cool! I used to work on these things in the dealer all the time. Great replication so far.
  14. LOL. I hear you on that Kevin....loud and clear. There was no shortage of food this year as my wife's birthday is on the 3rd. We had plenty of shrimp for tacos on the 4th and had an ice cream cake to enjoy that with. I'm still stuffed! lol. Folks I have mixed feelings about the Wet Look Gloss. It does produce a gloss that is unrivaled compared to any I've used so far but it has a serious draw back of bubbling due to the immense aeriation characteristic it has. From now on I'll be dispensing it into a paint bottle to allow time for the air to work itself out and then airbrushing it on. Lesson learned. I am, however, working past it. It took about three hours of wet sanding and polishing to get this stuff to behave but once I tamed it-it produced a gloss that I never thought would end. Here's what I'm talking about in terms of bubbles..........and they were everywhere! after wet sanding and polishing: This is more like what was on the majority of the body. I'll be using the same approach to this bad boy
  15. What really grabs my attention here is the overall stance, the motor and the hood! That's a good lookin' car Jeremy. Does that motor come in the kit?
  16. Thanks Kevin and Jeremy! I didn't do any modeling today as I was busy the whole day but this morning started out pretty dang cool. I have a friend of mine who's got one of these and invited me out on about a one hour cruise in it. Totally freekin' awesome!! Hope everybody who celebrates it had a good 4th of July today.
  17. That grille is just right. That's gonna look perfect on the finished model.
  18. I ended up applying a coat of Tamiya Smoke to the wheels today which really brings them out more if you ask me. I intended to do this from the start but one thing lead to another and before I knew it the wheels & tires were on the vehicle. After I noticed it I was too chicken to attempt the coating but the more I looked at it (and with a little nudging from Rich) the more I decided it had to be done to get rid of that toy chrome look. Before: (notice the high glare from them here) and after: (a more defined and realistic look and this picture has even been lightened)
  19. Picked up a chamois this morning............... Thanks again for the tip Bill.
  20. Well it definitely looks like you've got the reference material handled Roger. Lookin' forward to this one.
  21. 10 days???????? Are you retired or something Dale? That looks good to begin with but 10 days? Wow!
  22. Yeah it does. If I were to be building a Nova, that would be the way I'd go.
  23. That black one made my heart race! Go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. Bill: Now that.............is something I'll be using there Bill! Thanks for posting that because I was just about to just accept the fact that swirls and small scratches were the norm when polishing. I'll be heading down to the auto parts store pretty quick to get one of these bad boys. Kevin:This is killer!! I really like what you're doing with the interior. Can't wait to see more.
