  1. Looking good. I'm building one of these too as a logging truck. Same Red frame too. If you do a yellow cab we'll definately have to post side by side photo's of them up here somewhere.
  2. Might not be any updates for awhile. I might not even make my sisters wedding next weekend. Some dimwit with no license or insurance totaled my Jeep this morning. It drives all weird, drives sideways, and the two drivers doors don't open anymore, and the unibody is tweaked. 98 Grand Cherokee Limit with the 5.2 V8, 3 inch magnaflow exhaust, and the aluminum intake mod. She runs like a champ, but is worthless for anything now. Can't fix a tweaked unibody.
  3. I don't need an easier alternative. I've been building Cars, Aircraft and Armor for a long time to be sure, thanks be to you though. I do have the Revell Kenworth which will be pulling my 53 foot Moebius Great Dane for awhile. Though the Kenworth has been stretched and smooth deckplates have been added. (aircraft and armor are the only things I build OOB, and even then, rarely). If you want to take a look at one of the projects I had a bit of fun with try this: http://s221.photobucket.com/user/redneck_chevy_psychopath/library/IDF%20MUTT I converted a U.S. MUTT with TOW Launcher, to an IDF MUTT, and added an M1919A4 .30 Caliber Beltfed to it. I built that puppy many years ago. Though the other guy in the GB, who built the same thing was far superior, I was happy with mine. That and after you've dine a set of individual link tracks(or 5) such as a set of Friul model metal working tracks, Dragon non working static tracks, dragon working 3 piece per link styrene tracks, and a set of model kasten working styrene tracks, the parts in these bigrigs don't scare me easily. The instructions are also a breeze compared to some Dragon or Cyber Modeler instructions.
  4. I've got the means to make decals, but I have to come up with alot of stuff to do it as I'm down to one 8.5x11 inch sheet of decal paper. I used to make and sell Oregon license plates(not decals) packages of 12 at the LHS. All but one package sold. There's someone else doing the same thing, but his are VERY poor quality. Much like the Verlindon Prpaganda posters which are just low res half tone prints on regular printer paper. The posters I was selling were far superior but since they didn't say Verlindon nobody bought them.
  5. The hard part for me is $$. These #$@%@# are expensive. I wouldn't mind digging up the rest of that Iveco Turbostar 2 I bought a few years ago and didn't do anything with. I've got a RoG Mercedes DLK Firetruck here that I've lost some of the hydraulics for, thinking of converting it to a regular rig. As far as I can tell there is no real difference, in the cab or anything since they released the same thing as a rig. Anyway back to this project. Debating whether to use box decals for logging truck or make my own so I have an Oregon company, even a fictitious one(have to be since this scheme don't jive with anything out there). Somehow feels wrong to use Utah, Washington, or Idaho, being an Oregonian and all.
  6. This thread is formerly called: Wouldn't you know it, I can build a truck too.......... Just as a heads up it was meant as in I can build a truck as well as cars and NOT I can build a truck it ain't that hard. These are just as tough as making a Star Trek kit look good. So I can build a truck too apparently. This represents just a couple of days worth of work. Haven't done a truck before. I had my ones for Christmas, and waiting on brakes for one of them somehow has stalled that out. The stretch on another has been giving me a headache(figured out now though). So I had some extra dough form some winnings at work at a team competition, so I ran down to the hobby shop to pick up the Logging Trailer and the White Road Boss. When I got there I saw they had gotten the Diamond Reo in. Then there it was I saw it. International Transtar kit. I grabbed it to go with the trailer. She's going SANS sleeper obviously. Yellow cab, with stock decals. Red frame, red trailer. The yellow is 2 part lacquer system some kind of Dodge Yellow, that's realy close to Cat Yellow(which is why I got it in the first place for a Cat engine). The Red is Krylon shortcuts Red Pepper. Which is a pretty little red. Debating on whether or not to do the trailer wheels in Red or have them a contrasting color like the yellow, or the white shown on the box art. Anyhow this is what I have so far. The yellow is NOT as bright as it looks in the picture.
  7. Ya know if you are looking for a sleeper for that thing, I picked up the International Transtar 4300, I'm not going to use the sleeper as I'm building it as a logging truck, so I'm doing it with the day cab. We could probably work something out if that's the kind of sleeper you are looking for, since I don't build alot of bigrigs.
  8. Awesome. I want to do a small fleet of Consolidated Freight. They started here in Portland Oregon where I'm at, and until recently I had no idea they started Freightliner. Of course I suppose that explains the Freightliner factory here.
  9. Hrm, maybe it won't look so goofy than. GRIN
  10. My Grandmothers husband is a HUGE railfan. We also have a couple of rail museums out here(one of which he didn't know about), we're going to have to go check out. I built him for Christmas a few years ago one of the Revell loco's. I can't find that specific kit anymore, but I believe it was a 4-6-4. I bought a strip of molding, and used actual low profile HO track for better realism. Of course since I was working on a layout at the time, I had some extra stuff I could use, l ike Ballast and whatnot. It'll be interesting to see what that lonestar will look like with those modifications. I'm just not a fan of the grill area on them. That KW, I have a 2.5 inch stretch going on it right now, with smoothy deck plate. It's going to go under the front end of the 53 Foot trailer. Figure set it up like it's an older Rig someone has doumped a bunch of money into. Can't figure on if I want to lower it or not though. I'd love to use my6 Italeri Pete 377 under that trailer but I think it'd look funny being a different scale. Will have to find a 24th scale Reefer somewhere I can afford.
  11. Not big on the looks of the lonestar, but I hear it's a spectacular kit. The trains, while I haven't built that one, I have built one of the Revell loco's they are pretty nice, though I wouldn't follow their painting instructions. They will sit right down on a section of HO scale track, which means you can handlay a section if you want the ultimate in realism. Or use a section of I think Code 83, for low profile and make it look good as well. Good haul/
  12. So since money got super tight(lost about a thousand a month or more), I started digging out from the stash. One of those was my Pete 377, which I decided to stretch, andI wanted another bigrig. So right before Christmas we got our gift cards and I grabbed this. So some of that money has come back at least temporarily thankfully, and back on the feet. I got these two buggers for Christmas from my wife. The Moebius 53 footer was to go with either the Pete(which is the wrong scale unfortunately), or the KW(which is the right scale but older than I wanted for that trailer but I'm building it as a custom). The AMT Trailer however, she got me to go with this COE Pete, I picked up as my own Christmas present(the day after Christmas the exact same time she got that trailer for me) Of course she said we were going to go to the shop to get a truck and trailer one for her to get for me and one for me to get for myself so I guess it was all Christmas presents from her. Dang I love my wife. Of course as an Early Christmas preset from a friend, while not model related specifically............... He made me this getup. The idea of it is, I pull the Muzzle Brake off my AR-15, flip over that metal part there, screw it on, pop in the blank in the photo, drop the Flog Ball in the tube and FHWUMP, that ball will go for far more than a mile or two. They actually work and it's hilarious. Of course I was working on the Christmas Tree farm this year and my youngest just HAD to get a photo with dad on the little Tractor. How he did it when it was like 32 degrees out I don't know but hey. That's my Fugly Mug there.
  13. While I'm not a 49er's fan(no offense I'm not an anythign fan Id on't like football), this is a truly original customer build and really does look like something someone would actually do to their personal rig. If I gave 2 farts about football(or any other sport for that matter), I'd probably do something like this.
  14. Love the grill on there. It never even occurred to me to remove the engraved mesh, and replace it with something else. However I've done it on the cars, go figure.
  15. I had an 81 X-11, with Factory Recaro front buckets and matching rear bench from an 85 X-11. Gray center, witha coll dark gray, black, and red, square geometric pattern, black outer, and red piping seperating the two. Friggin gorgeous(and comfortable seats).
  16. LOVE The theme. Dale Fan over here myself, in fact you gave me an idea on what to do with my Pete 359
  17. Mod Podge works even better than elmers, and it's alot stronger.
  18. That Titan kit is an interesting one. I have to see if mine is still intact enough to build or if it's just parts now. Looking good on the Camaro's. These are great kits, though they do tend for the wounded paw syndrome.
  19. 71 Torino Fiat X/19 More Chevy, Ford, and Dodge Pickups, not the stylin ones everyone turns into hotrods but the ones everyone uses to haul whatever stuff they have around and tear apart to beat on offroad. I'd love a 68 F-100, mid 90's CK series as they are WAY too expensive in the collector market. Isuzu Rodeo 2WD and 4WD Older Australian cars, like the ones they used in the MadMax films, but not all torn to garbage. Some of the rarer hotrodded cars used in the latest F&F flick. Gap fillers for missing or hard to find Corvettes, I would love to do one of every year. Though if you are looking for buyers though I'm going to be out of the purchase market for awhile.
  20. The Current Impala Police Car has one in it. It's a Revell Kit. Current Kit Number 85-1928 I'm looking at the box top for it right now. I have a couple that are done. One as an Appleton Wisconsin Squad Car, and another one as a lowered personal vehicle, I'd be happy to drive in real life if I had the dough.
  21. I believe our friends down under call it a UTE. Basically any unified car with a pickup bed/box on it.
  22. DITTO on the Hemi. You could go pro rat anduse newer wheels and engine. LOL
  23. Looks good, you did a good job here, especially with all the painting woes. I think the paint came out nice.
  24. The walmart stuff might be just what I'm looking for since I'm looking mostly interior and chassis stuff here. I would love to hit up clackamas, but we are losing 1300 a month in income so I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to grab a can of paint or two, and thank god I have a bit of a stock built up here to be able to build for awhile. Granted everything has been started, but at least it will FORCE me to finish some projects if I want to keep building. I nee a better job. LOL
  25. Ok so I'm not looking really to do bodywork here(though I might from time to time), but the old standby's the hardware store stuff, Krylon, homesense, dutchboy, etc. They all just craze the plastic. Now I have no problems using Testors, or Tamiya paints on the body's, and interiors, but painting that many chassis with model paint is more money than I can afford to fork out. So what works and is broadly available? I'm in Oregon.
