Oh yes- I see now that the grill was black washed. the Maroon paint is perfect-what kind of paint is it? the hunter green is a good choice for the engine too. heres my barn find 1/18 40 de-luxe just for fun...

this started as a 1/18 Bburago xke Roadster. in British racing green.. Province Moulage supplied the conversion kit that included the resin dunlop wheels, the resin hard top, glass, vents and flares ,fuel filler cap, number plate lights, and some nice photo etch parts including wipers and the decals. so far- it is the only 1/18 conversion kit I have ever seen and probably long gone.the resulting racer was pretty nice.

a rip snortin little frog eye....

here is a 100 6 that I did. car was red. the Moto- Lita wheel is from a polistil 1/16 xke. scratch tonneau cover. and tube exhaust-now a much better looking car....

I can hear the revs and smell the castrol-almost!!!!

very cool -even has the right '' stance'' my suggestion would be blackwash the grill and paint the little boots around the bumper irons.they were black rubber- besides that its perfect.

British Racing Green?
f1ford48 replied to Kit Basher's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
heres a rustoleum color. [full size rattle can] I recently used and I think it is spot on. its Charlston green- heres a Ford phaeton I painted it with.-it is quite dark.with a hint of grey.. if I were to build the 1/12 le mans bentley-this would be the color. also great for the e type. -
1941 WILLYS AMERICAR GASSER 1/18 diecast- back to stock

Hey Tom-it was a Hubley model A engine -I made up the downdraft carburetor and air cleaner -
nice shade of grey-makes it look more business-like.and the painted wheels as well. I remember these cars on the road when I was a kid and it seemed rare to see chrome wire wheels-they were usually painted and dirty. chrome wire wheels were more common to the XK-E [ in my memory]

wow-looks like it rolled down a ravine and then stayed there for 20 years. very realistic!
-
me too-Built all of them as a teenager- I still have some left-people complain about the filing of the castings, but its not that bad. I hand painted the moldings on the roadster when I was 13....

Exceptional work again-where are you getting the disc wheels? They look the same as on the blue Mercedes sedan- do you have a source for these and some period mud and snow tires? I want to build a stock JEEP CJ 5
-
these models came with some of the worst wire wheels and tyres I have ever seen- If you know the car-you know what I mean .here are 2 cars that I adapted Polistil wire wheels to. it makes a big difference I think. the Coupe was repainted dark metallic blue with ''duplicolor''-[it was orange with disc wheels]

bought a couple of these in broken condition- so decided to convert them to badly neglected field cars. the wire wheels are actually pretty nice on these models and I have adapted them to 1/18 XK 120s with nice results..

1/18 HOT WHEELS FERRARI 250 GT BERLINETTA SWB Lowered

excellent work- heres the Jouef one I did a long time ago-it needed lots of work- yours is a lot nicer model to start with. where do you get your decals ? -
great attention to detail
-
killer work on the Bburago Gull Wings!!!
-
very cool

Bburago 1/18 scale die cast cars do have potential to look more realistic-here with paint detailing alone. the SSKL was only detail painted- with slight weathering-[wheels were painted black also]. the 1936 roadster[ Grey] was completely repainted in and out.

STOCK 1932 FORD STANDARD 5 WINDOW COUPE 1/8 SCALE
f1ford48 replied to f1ford48's topic in WIP: Model Cars
adding some small details today- there were no motor mount bolts- so I made those up. made a steering wheel and horn button-the ring was cut from some other chrome part and adapted.[to get the bezel detail] door handles made from metal from a toggle bolt. and a better filler plug for the steering box-also the front end coming together with stock lever action shocks....... -

Thanx Mike-I will try sharpening this old punch I have. I want the V8 insignia to look more sharp. -
super sharp- besides the flawless black paint the under chassis and tire colors are very realistic.

STOCK 1932 FORD STANDARD 5 WINDOW COUPE 1/8 SCALE
f1ford48 replied to f1ford48's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Yea Mitch-that is correct on the temp gauge. the speedo on a stock 32 only goes to 90 mph as well. with the doors not opening on this model you will only get a glance at the dash anyway. -
STOCK 1932 FORD STANDARD 5 WINDOW COUPE 1/8 SCALE
f1ford48 replied to f1ford48's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Guys- I am building it close as I can ....real Flathead Aficionados will notice its a later engine as well. the model will represent a car that has been on the road for 15-20 years. I worked on the hubcaps tonight-still not 100 percent satisfied with the ''V8'' I had insignias scaled down from hubcaps in a parts catalog and printed on glossy paper-but they are tough to get perfectly round cutting them out.. I sure wish there were some decals out there-would be sharper than this- but searches turned up nothing so far. also made up the taillight using the cowl lamp..........
