  1. I bought it. There were no subscription leaflets inside it so I'm thinking they priced high because it's a market test. I'm sure a subscription will cost about the same as hot rod. It's a brand new mag. Plus they are actively looking for feedback on it as well to hone it. I think it's a great start. I'll bite.
  2. Even if the firewall isnt right, I'll be smoothing it out and recessing it anyway. I just want a modern tool '30-'31. I still love the old monograms though.
  3. Man.... that thing is killer now!!!! magazine worthy!
  4. that's a beautiful build. I agree with the others, black wash the grille, I'd also add a flat silver to the face surface of the wheels, detail the firewall and other bits... then like you said, maybe outline the scallops in a wild color. I think it's a show winner!
  5. Hey then if thats what you're after, I think it works nicely then.
  6. I love the work you're putting into it. totally dig it... but man, the cowl is killing me. It needs something. Like a diagonal cut from the front bottom up to the top back... it just looks odd without the top panel. I think a diagonal cut would make it less weird. just my opinion. but other than that I love it.
  7. I'd totally own a few of the red pinto's with the aluminum slot wheels too!
  8. thanks Bill, thats exactly what I was going for. Hopefully it turns out the same way when its done! LOL And I agree on the suede paint. I could take it or leave it but for some reason this one was begging to be suede-a-fied I also enjoy the new projects you have going on as well!
  9. Thanks for the photo references Kerry! Thats exactly what I needed to see. Looks like my engine will fit the top picture reference.
  10. I totally forgot I hadn't updated this thread.. whoops. I painted the body in model masters Honduras Maroon... which is a beautiful color itself when wet or gloss cleared. But I wanted something a little different. So I decided to hit it with some flat clear. So its a matte red metallic which has a neat effect to it. I've been busy with my real 1:1 cars lately so I havent had a lot of time at the bench with this thing, but I also painted the flathead in it's original flat green, and a friend of mine has some finned heads, and triple carb intake for it he's sending me. So here is where it stands so far. I hope it sits this low when done. I dig it. Added some pinstripes to the backside. Leftover from my '32 Ford I finished recently. Also added some small iron crosses behind the front wheel openings just to make the car look less blank, but not in your face either. And finally for this update, some BMF around the front window. Messed up a little bit and got a crease in the bottom section but oh well. Once I figure out how to run the plug wires for a flathead (I'm not that familiar with them) then I think the engine will be done as soon as I get the heads and intake.
  11. Definitely an all around Clint Eastwood fan here.
  12. If I havent used a bottle in a while I stir it with a tooth pick and try to get as much of what is on the toothpick back in the bottle then shake it.
  13. California Kid
  14. Man, that would be a sight to see... all 6 original Ferrari killers in one place.
  15. Anything to watch out for while building this one? Also what do you use to get your very thin and crisp door and body lines in black?
  16. https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=inches+to+decimal 5/16" is approximately .80
  17. Wait, what? I have not heard of this one...
  18. No.. but wow that's gnarly! I'm thinking something more along the lines of this...
  19. I know, I know... it's a pruis... A word I do not enjoy even saying and not something I would normally consider building.... but I have a grand idea for it.
  20. The top/2nd picture and bottom car excite me way more than they should because I'm a model A fan.. but wow those look fantastic
  21. That is soo awesome!!! I couldnt look at the in progress thread because I was too anxious to see it done!
