  1. A very ancient and almost non-existent "USAirfix" brand "snap-fix" kit. I lucked out and found it on ebay.
  2. I just picked up the Lincoln Futura this past weekend in it's '03 re-release. Primitive to say the least, but I couldnt leave without it
  3. A model a Tudor with foldable seats, opening doors, and posable steering.... I'd buy it.
  4. Wow! A splitting image! That looks great. I just painted them with testors bottle paint and then flat cleared them. Purple power is having a rough time stripping the Tamiya paint.... might have to resort to brake fluid. Didn't want to but we will see. Going to give it a few more days.
  5. I still have a hard time getting used to 4 door cars as being hot rods and racecars... Just not used to seeing that stuff up here... but man, it is it awesome!
  6. That's kinda how I am. I feel like I'm a good builder, but I'm modest. If someone feels my build is magazine worthy that's great, but I'm not going to spam anyone with loads of pictures. If a build of mine is deemed worthy of magazine print then I'll pull out my real camera instead of using my phone, and put up a white background and take good pictures to the best of my abilities.
  7. I've always wanted to do that type of mashup to make a more detailed General... you did a great job. Roscoe's cop car looks great as well
  8. Took some outside photos saturday Enjoy
  9. So this weekend was looking good until I couldnt help myself... and you'll see why. So at first I wanted to make this thing a worn looking ride. I thought it would look good. Turns out I'm not so good at that yet. So here's how it started out That's when I decided to try and make it looks like an old custom car that was showing its age. I had originally painted it w/ tamiya red brown underneath to simulate an old red primer that might have been used in the 50s/60s. Then painted the titanium gold over it. Well at that point I started to really like how it turned out... but curiosity got the better of me.... and... this happened... So then after that, I said ok the spots I went thru the paint on, I'll touch up w/ sophisticated finishes rust and then flat clear the whole thing. that's when I decided I really liked the shiney look... So it went into a bucket of purple power.
  10. I built a corvette many years ago as a kid. I actually dont even remember building it but I have it, and so I had a hand in it some way or another. I do remember clearcoating it and absolutely ruining the windows... But thats another story. What I'm trying to figure out is who made it. I don't have any pictures of it and I can't find it on google. But what I can tell you that stands out the most that may help identify it was it was molded in brown. Like a light-ish brown, it had a small block that appeared to be fuel injected with like an LT1 tunnel port or something I can't remember. It had 80's Corvette wheels on it, and it had a solid rear axle that had a 4 link setup. It was also a hardtop. I'm assuming it's an old AMT... but I can't seem to find it. Can you help me figure out what it is? I'd love to find another one and "re" build it.
  11. Thanks for the tip. I've also decided to use the Rat Roadster firewall on this kit as well. It doesnt have any locating pins so I can tuck it as far as I want into the body w/o making it look goofy. I think a few mm's need filed off of it though so the body sits down just a touch more.. just a tiny bit. I initially wanted to use the rat roadster wheels and tires, but the rears stick out way too far. The fronts would possibly work, but I'd rather use the full set. So I'll stick to the stockers and paint the centers. I'd like to experiment w/ painting whitewalls on to the tires as well. The weather here has been rainy and humid... so no chances of me being able to put paint on it yet. I also havent ruled out the possibility of it getting a Duvall windsheild
  12. I've gotta be close to 150. If not just over that
  13. Here's a pic of the final ride height. Took a bit of sanding and shaving and tweaking. I had to even sand/shave the insides of the front fenders so it would still roll lol
  14. That jim16 has everything when it comes to resin hearse stuff on ebay... kinda thought about reverting an Ecto to a miller meteor
  15. Well go figure, I overlook the 30 model a touring sedan hot rod for like a year at the hobby shop and the one time I want it it's gone. Oh well. I'll probably just stick to the kit engine. I'll check my parts box this weekend for something just in case. Tonight I worked on lowering the stance. And now it's about as low as it can go. No pics because nothing is glued in place and it raises back up a touch when I let go. Soon though
  16. Looks great! I see your Galaxie is mid-engined as well
  17. Yep, the scene where they present a member of the car club w/ the yellow car they've been building for some time in secret.
  18. Thanks folks. Small details are hard for me anymore. I don't have nerves of steel like I did when I was a teen.
  19. I'm trying! LOL I've got way too many kits and not enough space! I'm probably about to bump 150 kits and I seriously need to get building. This weather isnt helping though.
  20. Thanks for the tip folks. Might just pick me up the '30 and use the leftover '32 parts on it.
  21. In the past year since I've gotten back in to it heavily.... way to freaking much. I've been neglecting my real 1:1 cars badly.
  22. It won't be that low, but I'm going to try to get it close. Pics were mostly for attention. Haven't done anything to it other than gluing the engine together to test fitment.
  23. Pulled my most recently purchased kit off the top of my stash because I was drawn to it. It's the monogram topless 32 ford with the fenders and frame as one unit. I would like to make it sort of a 60's hot rod with a bit of patina. I found some finned valve covers in my parts box and realized I wanted a 3 carb intake after I already glued the single 4 barrel intake on... whoops. Anyone know off hand what kit I could rob a 3 carb intake from, for a smallblock chevy? Anyway, I was initially thinking of painting it cliché flat black... but remembered I had a can of model masters honduras maroon. I think I'll paint it that color and hit it with flat clear. After some weathering of course. Complete with an off-white firewall and maybe a touch of rust here and there. What are your opinions?
  24. is "gold" the brand name?
  25. I'd still love to have all 4 of the main dukes kits to build. I had a general lee years ago that was molded in orange. I clearcoated it and it looked ok for a while but then over time it frosted and bubbled real bad. Nothing I could do. So Daisy's jeep became parts since I didnt have a good looking general to go with it.
