  1. So next came the body after gluing the windows in Looking in Good thing shoebox cars are square... they stand on their nose easily to glue the back bumper and license plate on! and the exhaust tips Glued on the BadMan gas tank for that extra touch even though it wasnt required on this kit Checking out the blower under that clear scoop! Next pics are under glass!
  2. Got the itch and worked on this thing a lot yesterday. I BMF'd the roll bar as best I could, and I also BMF'd the center console in matte aluminum. Thought it was a nice touch, especially since I accidentally put a fingerprint in the paint which led me to do that. Finished the engine as far as I wanted to take it (no plug wires because it would have been too much of a hassle) Got the chassis finished up as well Glued the grille/headlights in and detailed the front marker lights glued the taillights in place And also installed the hood scoop, emblem, and hood ornament So then I glued the interior to the chassis and glued the wheels on it.
  3. I finished my '55 Chevy yesterday. I started a motorcycle for a friend. Should have that done by the time this begins!
  4. I usually cut green autobody masking tape and tuck it in real well with the butt end of a toothpick and then spray. That's how I did the interior of my Monogram '55 Chevy.
  5. Dang, I wish Fotki wasn't blocked at work. I cant see it Have to check it out at home.
  6. Almost looks like you could use bits of the AMT 62 thunderbird, and the Revell 70 torino and cobble it together.
  7. I might have a kit in mind that I just got last weekend... its an old Revell (Carryover from Monogram) Hot Rod series kit... but pretty basic. I just have to finish my monogram 55 chevy first. I have been trying to discipline myself to not start any til one is finished.
  8. Hmm. I'm off work Friday. I may like to participate... but heck I can't finish 1 thing in 6 months. I'd have to pick an awfully simple kit.
  9. This one snuck up on me over the weekend and sucked me back in. I put it off for so long after finishing the BMF like I needed some sort of break haha But anyway, I somewhat detailed the chassis, just painted the frame and exhaust since they're all molded as one. Also painted the gas tank. And for some reason forgot to take a picture.. I also glued the front suspension in place, while almost throwing it across the room trying to get the tie rod glued on. As you'll notice the wheels are nice and shiny chrome again... I got some kits from a friend recently and it had the very same wheels and tires in it that didnt belong to the kit... so talk about luck! So naturally I had to mock it up and take pictures to keep me encouraged to finish it!
  10. When I start to make my builds way too detailed then I start to loose interest in them because it becomes a chore. I find it hard to see the worth of the outcome. like my '55 chevy truck thats probably buried in the on the bench truck section... I will finish it... just when I feel like it. I know the more experienced I get at weathering/BMF/scratchbuilding then the better/quicker I will get and then the faster the kit will be built... but currently its frustrating. So lately I'll do a semi-detailed build that is mostly out of the box with a good paint job and just moderate detailing after a build that takes forever and has lots of detail.. Makes things go quick and keeps me satisfied.
  11. I ended up using an old school hand crank drill that my dad has had forever. But a working pin vise sure would be nice.
  12. Mine feels like there was only 1... but I'll take another look. I tried looking int here but couldnt see anything. Guess I'll be doing exploratory surgery on it lol
  13. That's pretty much the exact same build schedule as myself. Except most of the time I get sucked in by the tv show lol
  14. And if you do, is yours also garbage? I've put the biggest drill bit that it comes with in to it, and tightened it down literally all the way, with the assistance of a pair of pliers, and it still doesnt grip it's own drill bit!!
  15. Sorry, I skimmed. busy morning at work.
  16. I'm impatient too! It's terrible!! I only get a few short hours a week to spray and I want the car in color in ONE day LOL
  17. I like that. I think I'd mount mine to the wall to save desk space as well... I'm running out of room w/ all my tools/paints/etc.
  18. Thank you to JC Reckner "AFX" for the t-bucket!
  19. Lil bit of sanding on the new kit blower, problem solved. I don't want my blower chrome anyway
  20. Is that a tank engine??
  21. Man, thats a good looking flathead. I would totally buy one of those 48's... I've been picking them up and putting them back down at the store... dunno why. I'd hate to just sacrifice it for the engine though!
  22. D for me. I'm not a fan of the "channeled beyond use" look anymore. Once I discovered the realm of traditional hot rods.... I was hooked. All out "Rat" rods don't do anything for me anymore. Theyre neat, but no. I would probably build one as a model because... well, it's a model and doesnt have to be 100 accurate, but not a real car. I want a 30 Model A 5 window soooo bad I can taste it. Out of my league at the moment though... So cheap foxbody mustangs are what hold me over.
  23. I know of one. It's not an exact fit and will only take just a small amount of work to correct but you can get a stock hood from Motor City Resin Casters. Just email them. They don't advertise them by themselves.
  24. Insanely good!
