Thanks. They are IKEA detolf display cases and I bought extra shelves on Etsy.

Got this book today. A quick read but it is loaded with pictures from the four races it ran in, a short history of the GT40, and #1016 ownership history since it’s competition days were over. The book was less than $50 and I recommend it to any fan of GT40s. I have seen this car several times along with the 66 Lemans 1st and 2nd place cars over the years. That is my Fujumi build from about 20 years ago sitting on the book.

The 69 Mustang is well proportioned and as you can see I’ve done a few variations using decals, wheels, etc.

Picked up these two IMC kits on Saturday for $25 total at the Flight 19 IPMS model contest and swap meet. The GT40 is molded is the most translucent white I have ever seen. Every other kit I have seen has the normal color white plastic. The chome looks great for being 55 years old. The Driver figure ($10) is by Tony Cruz.

Wow. Looks great.

Thanks guys.

Thanks Gary. A oldie but good won a 3rd place today at an IMPS show. I probably built that kit 30 years ago or more. The gentleman that runs the show said it was of the worst kits ever made and was therefore impressed I built one that actually fits together pretty good. For a 55 year old kit I think it was way ahead of its time.

Yes -Revell Boss 351 expected to be out much later this year and probably a 71 Mach1 version in 2023.

What was the retail price? Close to $40?
-
They did away with the weekly coupon about a year ago. Now they have curtain times “on sale” every week which does included model kits at 40% off usually every other week.

I never knew what the caps were for. I thought it was some weird large white wall. So it is supposed to make the stock tire wider? It seems like a cheap short cut to just molding another set of tires.

Very authentic and nicely done. I’ve got a 1/16 1968 Shelby glue bomb which would be perfect for a similar build but with some many models to choose from to build I’ll enjoy looking at yours for now.

WOW. Looks like you could hop in and drive it. Perhaps AGORA would consider making them in more than one color.

My 68 Mach1 has this chassis. It’s a glue bomb so I’m not 100% sure. The 68 Shelby chassis is pretty similar and I’m not sure if the Iron Horse used that one or the same one as in the Mach1 show car.

Extremely impressive. I have yet to build a 1/12 Mustang kit (Fastback and GT350) because I fear in that size it is going to look to much like a toy unless I take the detailing to the type of level of your Corvette. Look forward to your completed build.

Looks like it’s all coming together. One question. Does the rear spoiler have a crinkle finish?

I have cut out the doors on two bodies figuring one body will be useless after cutting a little beyond the door edge lines. Then the other body can be cut a little inside and the donor door can be sanded down to fit into one body. I grafter the front of a the newer AMT kit to an original issue 67 AMT gluebomb 67 that had a warped front end. If all else fails they can be used as practice for painting. If the results come out good I may use it to build a kit. If not it can just go into the junk parts box.

Welcome. We have some world class model builders on this site with incredible knowledge. As you know the USA makes a few supercars but you would think Ferrari, McClaren, Lamborghini, and Porches have factories in the USA based upon how many I see on the streets, shows and cars and coffee events.

Very true. I know JC aka AFX has used that chassis in his builds It’s a shame to have to bash two kits together just to make one nice one. The HRM 68 Shelby GT350 convertible was a great example of bashing the convertible resin body based on the AMT 68 GT500 with the newer AMT 67 GT350 chassis and engine compartment.

Same here. The yellow AMT 68 Shelby is a GT350 which of course was a simple conversion to downgrade from the 428 to a 302. I built that about ten years ago and just noticed I used the AMT 260 engine which has that funky oil filler tube which I should have chopped off. ?
