Perhaps the 68 Shelby chassis can be used for a 65-66 versions as I detest the molded in exhaust system, especially the single exhaust setup. As you can probably tell I’m not nostalgic about 1960’s kits being the same as they were decades ago when with a few parts swaps they can be greatly improved. We are all familiar with the 65 RM fastback. All I can say is wouldn’t that be nice.

That’s one I never picked up for my collection. It seems there are plenty of 90’s Mustangs but zilch for the 2003-2004 GT, Mach1, Cobra and Saleen.

Thanks. It makes a little more sense now. I was not building models back in the 60’s and did pretty much everything I bought through the 70’s was a reissue and I probably did not even see most of the older kits until the 80’s at swap meets and model shows.

Did all the kits have the molded in single exhaust or did some have dual?
-
So the Peony kit did not even have an engine and single exhaust? I guess at least it was updated when the 66 coupe kit was first released. I’m guessing when these kits were first made no one dreamed they would still be desired and critiqued 55 years later. ?

The reality was in that climate I only drove it a few thousand miles a year (if that) and without a/c in the summer or heat in the winter it or wipers it was a very fair weather car. I would not rule out getting a Daytona Coupe in the future but then I would have to sell another car.

Super nice Mario. ? I know I had seen the photo before of #2 with the yellow rear spoiler which I assume was borrowed from another MKII. -
1/25 AMT 1966 Mustang GT -- Original Annual & Modified Reissue
vamach1 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yes - nothing in common with a 289 and a 351C except being painted blue. The point I was trying to make was there could have been an attempt to put a legitimate 351C engine in the old MPC tool 73 Mustang kit that was rebranded as AMT with a revised 71 sport grille and bumper thus making it look on the outside like a Mach1 except neither engine in the kit was ever correct and were merely carried over from earlier Mustang kit molds.- 216 replies

1/25 AMT 1966 Mustang GT -- Original Annual & Modified Reissue
vamach1 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
They would have to have new Tri-Y headers and a more realistic Hipo 289 instead of the tired old small block engine that’s been in the 66 coupe kit since it first came out. As we saw with the 71 Mach1 kits, pretending an engine is something it isn’t (a 351 Cleveland) may not matter to most but it’s those things that will be the difference between a muchimproved kit or one that is just emulating a mediocre promo based original kit which appears to the nostalgia but falls short compared to kits tooled even 30 years ago.- 216 replies

Welcome back and it looks like your skills are better than some of us that have been actively building for the last 55 years myself included. ?

Cora Jet Hood Scoop Emblem
vamach1 replied to TooOld's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Glad to help. The sheet is very nice and has emblems for just about every year Mustang. It’s not as rigid as photo etch but it seems like some sort of metal. -

Hobby Lobby Miami. I have a feeling this store does not sell as many models as the stores in the suburbs but it is the only place I have seen that sells kits within ten miles and I live in a major city.

I cannot say I have ever seen exactly what you are looking for but this set has the Cobra Jet script. -
I’m going to start on one of my 71 Prostock Mustang kits to try to replicate the Auxier car. I wonder where I got the inspiration. ?

Has anyone tried this chrome marker?
vamach1 replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Looks exactly the same as the Molotow ones. -
It would certainly make sense to tool the parts for a 429CJ or SCJ version and even a 351CJ so three version of the kit could be produced with engine swaps, different front bumper, rear valence, gas cap, decals and other minor differences. I’d like to see a 351CJ with the standard valve covers. The RM 70 Mach1 in 1/24 Cleveland engine kit only had custom valve cover so hopefully they will remember to base the kit on a concours stock Mach1.

Enjoyed it very much and nice builds that are certainly one of a kind. I found some information on the 1970 Mustang that used to be one used in the T/A series. It’s amazing how those cars were passed on from one racer to another for probably not much money until vintage racing became more popular and the cars are worth a lot more now.
-
I would not even count that at all. ? Entex did a 1/16 67 convertible but it’s not a popular scale.
-
I would buy either the original AMT or MPC 67 Mustang fastback if they could tool those up again.
-
Not much reason to have this kit other than it’s weird. Single exhaust molded in screams promo to me and the 66 HT kit has been reissued to many times to count.
