  1. Thanks for posting Ed and your comments Jim. As Ed mentioned I had forgotten about the MPC version as you do not see the AMT original issues very often and rarely do you see the MPC one except of course on Ebay where I scored this “glue bomb” one which I am working on. Aside from the lack of the lettering on the hood and sides and what appears to be a place for rear back up lights but none are provided, I agree that this version is better than the AMT kit. The chrome center console, gauges and door handles are touches that are rarely seen in kits of that period much less current kits. There are phot etch letters and/or decals to take care of the lack of them being included. Many extra parts to make a GT350 version are also in the MPC kit although not mentioned specifically by name. Of course if a set of Tri-Y headers and high rise intake manifold was there it would be icing on the cake but instead MPC did not change the base 260 V8. Despite these “missing” items if one wanted to make a GT350 out of this kit it would not be too difficult with the extra parts in the kit a good start. Let’s not forgot the “extra” 427 engine and that cool teardrop hood and all the extra custom parts. I’m sure the original molds are long gone and with the retooled AMT version coming out we will likely never see the MPC version made again.
  2. Now that you mention his absence it is very unusual he has not posted in almost three weeks. I hope all is okay.
  3. Makes me want to build mine. ? Or maybe just get a nice diecast. Nice job despite the problems. I think it was a quick effort by the model company to get one out there first and no one else did a better version.
  4. That’s for sure. My son is getting used to it very quickly and it’s easier to drive than the other 2003 - the Cobra.
  5. Great work JC. Glad to see Norm is back providing what modelers want. Will he be at the Mid-Atlantic NNL next month? How about Brad?
  6. Great build a driver figure. Not sure if you saw this magazine issue. It was less than six Euros on Ebay. Very nice Lola as well. ?
  7. Ford Windstar minivan (head gaskets and junk transmission) and 85 Mustang convertible (V6 head gaskets). No major issues with other older or newer Mustangs I’ve owned or Explorers or Edges.
  8. I used my painting skills to repaint the fender badges which were completely devoid of any color. I picked up the car a few weeks ago and it needs a lot of cosmetic touch up but it seems to be an otherwise sound car.
  9. Ain’t that the truth.
  10. Thanks. That may explain the random Galaxie taillight in the box. ?
  11. These were in the box of a MPC 66 Mustang kit I bought but I am pretty sure they are for some other kit. Does anyone know what kit they may be from?
  12. Very nice. Not a lot of 66 Hertz’s were made in colors other than black.
  13. Gotcha. Probably a random part that didn’t belong in there.
  14. Looks like it sold a few days ago.
  15. Crazy money for a promo chassis single exhaust kit. Should not be hard to turn a 66 back to 65 specs when the new and improved Round2 kit comes out.
  16. Not sure - the box gives credit to Jean Jeffries for the “custom” parts. They look more like T-bird lights to me except like the ones used on the 67 Shelbys.
  17. He is doing a set for the Revell 1/12 65 Mustang. I sent him my original dash and tach pod form the 1/12 65 GT350 kit so he can make the correct set of guages. The set he has on this Ebay store is for a 1/12 66 dash which is very different from a 65. I’ll post a picture when I get the parts back and the gauge sheets.
  18. Got this one in the mail today. I should ge able to rebuild this rare kit to add tot the stable of Mustangs.
  19. Thanks for the kind words. Here’s a photo I came across recently of Quicke Too that I had not seen from this angle before. On a related topic I have ordered two sets of decals from Fasig Graphics to make a Sam Auxier Prostock 71 Mustang. While it’s not a funny car I have always wanted to try an replicate the car in 1/25. According to Sam the car is now in Pennsylvania but the owner does not not seem to have a clue about how to restore it.
  20. Simply amazing. *****
  21. I think only the earlier issues had the metal wheels. Later on they went to being on the chrome tree. I think all the versions had the ability to have wiring for working headlight and taillights. This kit in on Ebay and the bid is up to $91.
  22. Well I broke down and bought the one on Ebay for $75 (see the gold painted one above) as I figured I may never see one at a reasonable price. A built up one was fine with me as I have rescued and rebuilt other project cars. I’d much rather have something I can build versus just let it sit in a box unbuilt for another 50 years. My apologies to Snake and anyone else that was going to make an offer but frankly when it was listed at $125 I do not think my offer would fly. I guess you never know. I have the original box and I think I have the decals too so I’ll post pictures when they are all together. Even if some parts are missing I can probably cobble together enough to build build a nice 66 GT just before the new and improved Round2 one comes out.
  23. Count me in for anything for a Mustang. ?
  24. The 1/87 Lemans Miniatures kit is great for its size. ?
