  1. Fine work sir! That is really looking great. The thick cabs you saw were probably mine, lol. Daves are made from a completely different master so Im sure theyre thinner. Thats why I dont cast anymore ?
  2. It doesnt look bad Sam. It looks like it just pulled out of the pit on a rainy day. Its looks damm good to me.
  3. I think I may have extra 352 chassis with air suspension. Or if you just want air ride to put under the freighliner, I can do that also.PM me if your interested.
  4. Im working on a bubble nose Pete 350 cab that is the same way. Its 3/4" thick in some places and it keeps breaking on me. I keep having to epoxy the pieces back in as they break, so I can keep working in it. Eventually it will all be epoxy! The cab looks great. What chassis are you going to use on this?
  5. Thats the plan Gator, Hood, bumper, front springs, and probably some steering parts. The front cab mounts will be attatched to the rear spring hanger also. This takes care of moving the cab forward due to the hood being slightly shorter. This will be an easy conversion.
  6. Great job little man! It wont be long now, til your knockin out the bigger cabovers like your Ole Man. Keep on buildin!
  7. Wow, 352 and an Astro.....thats quality. Good to know about the 7400 interior. I have a few of those cabs also, so I can use that as reference whenever I get around to the Road Commanders.
  8. No problem Brian. Only one of mine came with a dash, and yes its right drive. I was just going to modify a FL dash.
  9. Brian, that is friggen Awesome! I have never seen one of those. Your work so far is spectacular. I have several of those road commander cabs stashed away in WFL boxes. Two Story Road Commode is just plain hilarious! Keep up the good work my brother, I cant wait to see this unfold.
  10. The grill looks great, I would leave it be.
  11. Got the bumper made, and a little more fine tuning. Just have to get the headlights in, and the structural rib under the hood and its done!
  12. Thanks for all the kind words guys. I got the bumper made, and just have a few more pieces to make before sending this to be cast. Its getting close! Thanks to Dennis(Tesla) for the rear fenders.
  13. I apologize for all of the small updates, but if I get a little done every day or so it might get finished! To help conceil the joints in the drum stretch, I wrapped the whole flat section of the drum in .020 styrene sheet. It worked like a charm!
  14. I just dont know what to say......beautiful
  15. I love watching such a specific combination of parts come together to make something unique. Keep up the great work.
  16. That chassis is very crisp and clean Sam. I can tell how much work you have done, because I know all too well how heavy the mold seams are, and how tapered the rails and crossmembers are. The gladhands look great.
  17. After much consideration of Warrens suggestion to move the mixer unit back, I decided to extend the drum by an inch. I figured with this truck being the Hoss that it is, to justify the heavy suspension, bigger tires, and twin steer, it needs a bigger drum. This also allowed me to shorten another drum for an older style mixer build in the future. Heres the shorter drum and some leftover rings to extend another drum in the future. Maybe something like this.....
  18. Anything is certainly possible Gator. I imagine that it wouldnt be any different than the driven axles at the rear except that they steer. I think it would be easier to do with top loader axles like the Rockwells that the military uses for front drive axles. Ive never understood why they dont use the same set up on highway trucks like the military does.
  19. Gator, this was as far as I could get with the photos I had at the time. Thanks to the post of the wrecker photo gallery, I can go a lot further with it. At this point it just a walking beam susp from a Paystar kit, and two Paystar steerable front axles.
  20. That winch and cradle looks great. Make sure and throw some wrenches and hammers in there. Are planning on putting some rear fenders on? Just curious. The DM800 fenders would look killer on this.
  21. Jeff, I was going to, but with my backlog of builds I think its smarter to make this a curbside. I have a Cummins block and trans coming courtesy of Driptroit, Mr. Brian Smith. I plan on detailing the front suspension and steering as much as I can, and that will be the show piece of this build. I always bite off more than I can chew, then it never gets finished, so Im trying to be smart about it.
  22. Ok, I lied. I worked on it more today. I diamond plated the tops of the fenders, and modified some Pete tank steps to fit the WFL tanks.
  23. This has been posted a few times before, but this is my take on the aftermath of the Duel truck. There are many things incorrect about the model such as suspension and the wrong cab. This was sold off a few years ago. I have collected parts to build another.
  24. Thanks for the feedback gentlemen, I have decided to go diamond plate. I have done the rear fenders, and will tackle the front fenders later today. While I have the fenders apart from the cab, I need to make new hood sides after looking at the photos of the twin steer wrecker. Im itching to start fabbing up all of the rods and brackets that stabilize the front axles and start making all of the steering parts. The fact that all of this will be functional will be the best challenge. Warren, you are absolutely correct on the drum position. I usualy take a little bit of artistic liscence on some things, and even though it should be back further, I like the look of where it is. Ive had to make a few cosmetic modifications as it is because this truck is so ugly! I appreciate the input, thank you.
