  1. Jim, I think the suspension is fine where it is. It would put the rear wheels right at the back, which looks the best to me.
  2. Thats exactly what that truck needs. Cool project.
  3. Hello Bob, how are you? Thats the Rex unit from the Paystar 5000.
  4. Great work Alain. Its builders like you that show the rest of us that we should be doing better.
  5. What a great metamorphosis. I can only imagine this being transplanted to a 377 chassis. This really came out great JT. Maybe Ill get one and try to cut it down to a daycab............?
  6. Ok, this will probably be the last update on this until the Westen Star hoods are finished. The Autocar fuel tanks looked too small and high mounted to to the suspension height, so I swapped them out with tanks from a WFL. This looks much better. I also lowered the rear fenders closer to the tires, and filed off the ribs to more closely resemble the front fenders. Im not sure weather I will add diamond plate to the fender tops, or add non-slip tread to them after paint. Any opinions?
  7. Thanks JT, its definitely ugly but if you squint just enough and turn around and face the other way, its a great looking rig. Thanks Dennis. Actually, Dave Natale got me back working on this. He noticed it in a photo and thought it was cool. I pulled it out to take some pics, and decided to work on it a bit. Thanks Gator, what other kind of trucks are there? Seriously though, thanks for the feedback. Im gonna try not to let you down! Thanks Warren. Your Autocar mixer was defintely an inspiration to get back on it. A top notch build for sure.
  8. Man, I cant thank you enough. There are so many helpful photos that I need. There are some details with the front suspension and steering that I could see, but many that I cannot. I was able to get just about everything I needed from your photos. That also means that I have no excuse to cut any corners with the steering , so thanks for that too?. This has been a tremendous help.
  9. Im kicking this build to its own thread. Im making more of an effort to work on started builds. I aquired the rear wheels recently via AITM, and that is a big piece of the puzzle. This is still mostly just a rough mockup, but its starting to take shape. Engine will be a 3406.
  10. !!!!!! Sensory overload!!! That is looking great! The construction so far is right on point. Too bad its got a detroit?. The chassis looks great, and the Rockwells looks right at home under that chassis.Im anxious to see where this goes.
  11. Here is a 2nd Western Star hood that may be cast as a conversion kit. Its a 80-85 Western Star straight hood. This will a conversion for the 1/24 Italeri kit. This was made by sectioning and expanding the AMT hood, with the rear half of the fenders from the Italeri hood(the fender radius was too small for 1/24). I still need to add the strips to the top of the fenders, and make a bumper.
  12. Dang Dennis! That looks phenominal. Those fenders look awesome, and it looks great with color on it. Wow!
  13. Thanks a lot guys. What Im planning is for the leaf springs to be cast with the hood. The front cab mount is built onto the rear front spring hanger, so that takes care of axle location, and cab location. Only the rear cab mount will have to be moved forward. I want it to be as easy a conversion as possible. The only work will be filling in the swiss cheese frame rails that come in this kit. So many holes!
  14. Here is a hood conversion that I am in talks to have cast. I started on the chassis just to lay it all out to see what will have to be moved around for the hood. Im using an AMT WWS kit. I cut off the front of the spring mounts that contain the hood hinges, and grafted in some Pete 377 springs to move the axle back to the correct spot, and still hinge the hood. Im using Autocar front tires and rims for the time being. I cut apart the Hendo walking beams to make them functional. As of tonight, this is the progress. The cab, hood, tanks, and batt box are all just loose mounted for the time being. I swapped around the batt box and small tank because it looks better to me that way. I still have more work to do to get the front springs just right, and need to fab the bumper. Then hopefully this will be a new conversion kit. Showing beam travel
  15. Cool project. I may have an axle that may work for the front. Let me know if you need it. Also, I have made convincing louvers using quarter round styrene strip. Good luck with your project.
  16. Cool color. What color will the cab be?
  17. ??????????????????????? Brian , excellent job man, That thing is killer!! I never thought I would say that about a single axle daycab cabover, but this was a pleasure to watch, and one of my favorite Coe cabs. Another great one knocked out of the park gentlemen!
  18. Awesome build Warren! I enjoyed watching it. It looks perfect.
  19. Got a first coat of laquer on the hood and mocked up the headlights. They are two sets of Mack DM800 headlights. I like this look and will go with the dual singles. I also fabbed up a chassis for a 20' dump trailer that I was playing around with. This was a total junk box build with some plastruct I-beam for the chassis. The wrecker service next to my house in the 80's had a junkyard with a bunch of antique dump trailers that were very low sides and couldnt have been much longer than 20'. Thanks for looking
