a bit of relief, thank you Cato .... I hope Harry is getting much needed support that he deserves and is able to concentrate on finding some peace for himself ... what a nightmare ... to be so ill and have to be concerned about getting proper medical care must be so terrible Once again, I'll say that Harry is the biggest reason I'm on these boards and continue this hobby ... Peace to you Harry

I'm having second thoughts on the intake. The potvin seems like it'd be just too big an apparatus, so I placed some carbs on the rig ... maybe a centrifugal supercharger mounted in the front like a Miller ...

I'm thinking (front to back): potvin supercharger ala 1930 Bentley blowershaved fendersoverhead valves pre-ardundual exhaustshortened (not lowered) body ... possibly narrowedrace windshield maybe raised cowlDoorless entrysans running boardwider tires proto designredesigned back hatch with spare indent (in progress)etc ...Other than the backend, I think I'm ready ...

what if ? There's stories of "discussions" between Henry Ford and his engineers with his v8 before he won out with the flathead. But what if he allowed a few of his team to go have fun with his 32 Ford and do what they wanted with a one off? On their own time ... and dime of course... im playing around with rethinking the deuce .. And going gran tourismo

The First L-88
LaughingIndian replied to LaughingIndian's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Thanks Tim, Tony, and Scott, much appreciated Steve, you're correct. The car raced with an engine by TRACO with grey valve covers. But my version has the very first factory L-88 as delivered personally by Dick Guldstrand. This engine was used right up just before the race before it was replaced by the TRACO. The car was prepped in just a few weeks from the factory and my version is before Penske got Sunoco as a sponsor. Champion and Firestone sponsor decals are missing as well. The duct-taped headlights were of that time as well. I hope you read my intro on page 1 ... the stories about this car are incredible. Tom, thanks. Your comment about the stance is most appreciated since that is what caught my eye when I chose this subject. It's one if the greatest looking mid-60s Corvettes ever to me and that I came close to capturing that "stance" means a lot. -

The First L-88

Thanks Bruce and Bo ... I got some used foam core signs Bruce, but they're really white (on the backs) and so I'm going to look at a leftover roll of mulch matting I got in the shed ... flat black might be a cool background ... just have to finish the race lights and maybe adjust the rear wheels ... they're out a couple of inches ... -
