  5. are you sure you are mixing it well? first by shaking the living daylights out of it (put a bb or two into the bottle)? because it looks to me like your pigment hasn't been redistributed into the paint after it was separated while sitting on the shelf. I find it pretty odd that you are having problems with something most don't...its kind of like me honestly. but in this case I would cut it with whatever works (their thinner would be a good choice to begin with) and then stir the piss out of it. jb
  6. beautiful build of one of the most difficult kits I have ever laid my eyes on, not even counting the excessive flashiness of the more recent reissues. that is just beautiful from the paint down to the execution of details. gives me the spirit to maybe try this one of these days. maybe. jb

  10. that turned out excellent Pat and I am impressed with the speed you got it together too! I was thinking about "decal bombing" a fender or hood of one of my latest tuner builds, but I didn't want the tedium of using actual little decals. did you say you made that decal on your hood? did you find the graphics online somewhere? looks really neat, I want to do just a front fender or something like that. jb

NNL in conjunction with Stockton swap meet is definitely still happening and in fact the next one is scheduled for this Sunday, July 12, 2015. I do not know if Bob has a mailing list but I know he prints up flyers and you can get one of those at the show or if you can't go PM me and I will pick one up and mail it to you. I think there is only one more for the year after this sunday, but I forget when exactly. anyway if you cannot make it get hold of me and I will make sure to let you know when the next one is and get you on a mailing list if there is one. hope to see you there. jb

  13. So, you think Revell would just chuck all the tooling into the wastebasket over some missing bumper guards and a dozen people here pointing that out? Somehow that doesn't sound right. Meanwhile, the Blue Bandito still seems present and accounted for. jb
  14. those photos illustrate at least one big difference that never really sank in for me: that the turtle deck is lower than the back of the body by a good measure on the earlier cars while it is flush with the body top in the latter ones. looks much better flush with the body top to me. jb
  15. Much ado about nothing...unless one plans on NOT PAINTING the body. This is being ignored by all the apologists here who keep tripping over themselves to say how great the kit is. and rather missing the forest for the trees. jb
  16. here is some resin 27s that are or were available: Tim Kings kit with belly pan, two track noses and separate hood: and I believe this is a 27 streamliner body by Fremont Resins, comes with a long and a short nose and some decals identifying the prototype car: and here is one of the All American Models 27 T that I built. it was a bit of a struggle but turned out pretty good: jb

  18. this should be great. nice prototype to pick too. I love these cars; best looking new car on the road to my eyes (I mean the stock version, never seen these variants in person). I think I saw an engine kit on HLJ just the other day but it may have been backordered. I have a couple of these rocket bunny kits, I need to move one closer to the top of the build pile. jb

I would TOTALLY love this to have been kitted. to throw away the body would be to throw away the car. it was during ed roths "transition" away from model cars and from custom cars into outlaw bikes. very very historic vehicle though I don't think he retained ownership of it for long. in the book about him there is a pretty extensive look at the car and at his racing team. I don't see how not having "permission" would really hinder a potential resin caster from putting it out. I kind of doubt they really hold such niceties in much regard. maybe if they were trying to sell it by Ed Roths name but i don't see why a generic version would be a problem. I wish someone would put it out. jb

Can you help me Andy? you know, its kinda funny, out in the "real" computer world when a user reports a problem and takes the time to do a screen print, they are thanked. evidently, not here. but that's not any surprise to anyone frequenting this place for any time at all. kind of the same way with all the people raging about not telling model companies the faults of their products as if it is going to cause them to go away and hide and cry. quite the opposite. anyone with ANY knowledge of marketing knows that if people care enough about your product to take the time to scrutinize it and comment on it, those are sure sales. and them talking to other people has the proven effect of generating interest whether their talk is positive or negative. it is called marketing research and companies pay millions for it. and they are getting it free from a very dedicated and savvy audience when someone critiques a kit, for better or worse. that's a win win win win situation right there. in real business, the only thing worse than having faults in your products pointed out is to be ignored. yet yokels shout you down when you bring up obvious errors in products and want everyone to act like its all good or hold their tongue. that is death to the marketing department not to mention the advertising department because it means no one is paying attention to you or your products. that's a slight divergence from the subject but not by much. me pointing out a core dump and security holes (anytime code is puked onto a screen in response to an exception it has encountered its indicative of a security hole that can be exploited especially if one is making a habit of tracking such errors and putting together code segments to find access points...but I am probably talking over this audience's head) is a sign that someone is caring about the place and watching for back doors, then when they are found, alerting someone instead of squirrelling away the info for use at a later date. and snake you are always shooting at shat with that cartoon gun in your avatar and talking about bricks of ammo this and cases of ammo that, I just wanted to let you know it wasn't a rattler and you didn't have to waste the ammo. your response? wow, just wow. you said it pardner. yeah man I am the one who needs "help". wow...just wow. jb
  21. well brian, I just gave you two concrete tips there: use Future instead of glue and use some very fine diamond files to remove the excess fret metal from the part. also get some good flat nose pliers to hold pieces while you work them. be selective about what you use PE for because a lot of it seems to not be seen after all your work. if you are applying scripts to the outside of bodywork, if there is already a raised emblem, remove it before using the PE. careful that your part doesn't inadvertently launch itself across the room, maybe put them on a piece of tape if at all possible when working on the part but be aware you might ruin it when removing the tape. none of this is frontier breaking knowledge; I would suspect all of it is covered in one or more of the articles or videos you have read or seen. it really helps to know the exact circumstances you are dealing with like whether you are trying to use very small parts or rather large constructions, of which there are many out there in the modeling world sorry if this does not help. jb

  23. that's a core dump caused by an exception thrown by the running code when it encountered an error that was not handled in the code. very unprofessional. it means the forum crashed because the code writer did not properly handle the error that occurred. nothing to shoot at there snake so just relax, but quite interesting and revealing to hackers and reveals at least one security hole. jb
  24. I don't use glue to attach small PE parts, I use Future (etc) instead and you don't even see it most times. I also found the Tamiya diamond file for PE to be a very handy tool to remove that last bit of attachment point, and a photoetch bender jig like micro mark sells real handy for making consistent 90 degree bends. jb
