  1. Hello Shaun! Are you Portuguese? I'll bet you build wooden ship models, your country has excellent and world renowned wooden ship modelers. Good that you are here.
  2. Michael if you don't mind, I have a personal problem otherwise. Dave, my opinion is that still lots of guys get the scale wrong with the size of plug wires on scale models. Be them 1:25 or otherwise. Some appear to be about the size of lawn and garden hoses and look accordingly awkward and my opinion ridiculous. I should have stated my entry in a more clear manner. 7mm may be debatable, some are 8mm and others are somewhat larger. Just a scale garden hose variety is way off scale. Greetings.
  3. Tom, that's an interesting point of view. My opinion, we're confronted daily with, in my opinion, seemingly unintelligent young people quite often. I'm speaking here in Germany, not in US. Probably similar though. The parents that have well paid jobs can afford to send their kids to very expensive and elite schools, this starts at elementary level. These are the future elite of Europe. Middle class, take your pick....insurance agent, carpenter or mechanic, bank or legal secretary, small self employed shop owners, regular working class folks....no way can they afford to have their kids attend a decent school anymore. Instead, my opinion, the lesser affluent kids have their heads down while walking a straight line through paradise, and prefer playing social games. Kids from families better off , better education, better view of life and it's dangers....better education....don't do it like this. Plus, they are actually able to communicate! My German is quite fluent, also in dialects, yet these kids talk to me in excellent English. They can communicate eye to eye! Love it.
  4. Thanks Terry, that makes sense. Train horns....I have to admit, lmao! The tube vids crack me up. Hey, I mounted a real loud car horn on my little Vespa scooter. You oughta see the way the flaky drivers drop their smartphone when I give them a hoot to watch out how they drive! Idiots. Thanks for the input.
  5. Great update Dennis, love it! The dash is just amazing....excellent detailing.
  6. Real smooth Gino....and long baby. Oh yeah!
  7. The model looks excellent to me. I don't have a clue about cars from this era, be them race cars or coaches, but I can easily enjoy the view. Very intricate and lots of fine detailing, a very enthusing model to appreciate. I like it a lot and find that it's very interesting. Well done.
  8. Great. Thanks for the prompt reply. Seems like you have a big heart for our hobby and good luck to you and hopefully your future endeavors. Also, greetings to your father, an obvious fan as well.
  9. Nice looking pair! I really like post door Mopars. Back in the day I watched at the local AHRA dragstrip the injected AFX car up against Dyno Don's 65 Comet. Sox won the last round, it went to the wire. Spreading out rosin, the whole works, what a thrill to watch. I was never a Ford fan but did enjoy the T-Bolts and Comets bach then as there were several in my area, Florida/Georgia. Lots of match racing with big names. What a time. I admire your 3 color painting abilities.
  10. Thanks Chris! Also, the pics are just excellent, a true reference for this area. Just so happens I'm doing a fuel block like you show, many thanks. By the way, the "7mm" printed on the plug wires should really end the discussion of model car engine plug wires. Great pics.
  11. Randal, looks like a fine model to me. Your 1st one? Excellent. Just a question, you stated your "Dad's old models". Can you explain?
  12. Also, the decals look exactly placed. I really like these small things, and you do them very well. The car has a good stance too, probably lots of work with the suspension was involved, again well done.
  13. Thanks for the reply Marlowe. I don't about your solder skills, but you sure know how to bend frame tubes, looks good. If you can do that, you could be soldering in 5 minutes. You can do it. Can the die cast metal be soldered with brass solders? I guess it's mostly tin, I'm just not familiar with the material, but I do like your obvious outlook concerning metal on models. Thanks again.
  14. Great looking build Roger! A fine addition to your fleet for sure. Did you cut out the front bumper area around the blinkers? The bumper looks perfect, just like the 1:1 pics you added, nice touch in your presentation by the way. Fine looking model, compliments.
  15. Hi Tom, you know well the country roads too, lots of forests and rural areas around Pirmasens. I'm in central Germany, right along the Rhine River. Wine region number one in Germany. River, Rheingau wines and Rüdesheim, plus mountains and lots of rural areas here too. I'm happy here. Great food and the folks love to laugh.
  16. This was a really interesting tutorial. I like the idea of not having to put a sharp blade on a good paint job! If the leaf can just be pushed away this sounds like something I'd like to try next time around. I have some super thin platinum sheet and I don't need it anymore. I bet that would make for a real interesting novelty on my next model. I like the idea. By the way JR, that is some awesome work on a wooden spatula!
  17. I was happy to get out and just goof off today. Here a couple of pics from really small roads going through the forests, I really enjoy these cruises on the Vespa. Just up around the next curve is this great place to eat and enjoy a cool beer and classic German food out on the terrace. Schnitzel anyone? This place is way out in the woods; Just to the right of the restaurant it goes up into the woods; The road gets smaller; This goes on for miles, I really like it in the summer, hit the shady woods and the temp really drops. Great in the summer heat. Finally, I end up here. A cool one and a bite to eat. The house was built in 1670. Excellent food and not expensive. A typical German restaurant in small towns around where I live. They're all over the place; Next time around I'll have the camera focused better, sorry.
  18. Looks like the path is over a lot of land, hopefully it remains a storm, not a hurricane if it gets offshore for a longer period. My folks are in Jax.
  19. I hope to be safe. I'm no longer in Florida. Long live the Gulf Stream. One area though, seemed to be treated as lesser important. The "volcanic ash" part. Let me say though, I did not hear the whole video. If the area that was shown as volcanic ash does activate, then we can forget all of the previous. Isn't that the Yosemite area? Major volcanic threat, worldwide? Personally, why in the hell are so many U-Tubers so boring?
  20. Great! My wife has a half sister, she still writes letters and post cards. The wife will send an appropriate card on due occasion, with actual real written words. Also, we both like writing something on a postcard while on vacation.....nothing about the weather though. Hallmark cards really suck, my opinion. I think they're the ones that started making America lazy and illiterate. Even way back in the 70's, I'd get a Hallmark card on my Birthday or whatever, and nothing else but a lousy signature and a check. I remember too, telling those folks to rather leave me alone than to further insult me. @Tom above, I understand you loud and clear.
  21. In a small old fashioned grocery store we still have around the corner....small hand printed sign; "If we don't have it, you don't need it". They have about everything too.
  22. Guys, tomorrow is supposed to be a great day weather wise. I'm riding out and see if I can come up with some German forest pics. The roads are cool too. Lots of them are still only about 8 feet wide still showing the old pavement markings, read really old. These are roads that are just not used anymore, other than forestry use and vigilance.
  23. Man me too! I have folks in N. Florida along the coast.
  24. I really like your models. Super clean technique and they just look right. Also, I'm familiar with the way the canopy on Bantams can fit. Yours looks absolutely perfect, compliments. Wonderful model.
