The Whirlybirds
GLMFAA1 replied to a topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Yeah! Rotors beside brakes in this forum, I always wanted to build Chuck and PT's copter until I saw the color scheme. I hate to see what the 47J was painted for use in B&W film. Love the Bell 47, one of my bucket list items was a ride in a 47, which is fading fast, I also combined the two kits, even have a rough master for the expanded tanks for the 1/35ths Here is my G Mark 1/20 scale and my Esoteric models 1/72nd bell 47 Speaking of SkyKing here are models done by a local aircraft modeler -
David, I would suggest searching some military and aircraft model web sites, I recall seeing a CL415 diorama dropping water, greg

How we have progressed as high technology sets us back, People go crazy when people pump gas with cell phones, static electricity warnings and back then the tail light was right at the cap, go figure. I can't recall pyrotechnic stories about gas filling, only Pintos and Corvairs greg

The Monogram Ferrari was original Aurora kit from the 60's greg -
Nice build and agree with the consensus all time favorite bombers, Amazing that the engineers at Convair made this after the B36, it seems to be the Chevy truck division doing the Corvette. A plane that has motion in it even standing still It is a great bond to be able to share hobbies with your father greg

Northeast Ohio used to have dairy stores named Lawson's based out of Cuyahoga Falls Ohio and they ran a TV ad for their Orange juice express from Florida to Ohio called the 'Big O' Has any one ever built a model of this rig or have any more information about the rig and tank. I have a fellow modeler who wants to build this and all we have is this ad which isn't really clear and I hope all of you enjoy the jingle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7r6A6YQdtI greg

In the 70's Superior ambulance company had this idea of making more room by adding 18 inches in width to their van conversions. The only problem was the wheel track remained the same OEM track causing a very unbalanced ride. While attending the Toledo toy show and the NNL John Kline (AMT4ever) made my day by dropping over to my table and showing me his highly modified Chevy van ambulance. He started out using 2 older AMT vans that had the window option. He used the re released rescue van also. He used brochure Superior emblems in the grille and detailed the interior. I present John's model, excuse the background as these were taken at my vending table. . greg

I'm relatively new here and searched to see if there ever was a thread on models that were introduced and never met production. Some of the examples I remember were the AMT Ahrens Fox, Garwood Ford garbage truck, Link belt power shovel and IMC Dodge over the cab truck If this was covered please post the link. greg

Take a pair of calipers (dividers) and set them at the diameter of the rim being roughly 18 inches, mark off the frame with the 18 inches and you should get a ball park figure, It wont be accurate but close because of photographic (magic) you cant really get an accurate measurement. Interesting subject, I always thought the shuttle recover vehicle would be an interesting build greg

Just to let everyone know here are pics of the base. It has been years but I think I laminated veneer on the sides and I washed various grays on the stones and then took a rapidiograph pen and filled in between the stones with india ink -

This is the first time I found this thread, very nice build. It took me four days to do the cobblestone base. Just an addition to your history lesson is that centrifugal pumps were developed with greater capacity and began replacing piston pumps. There were two world wars that required metal and there sure was a lot there, let alone the brass for bullets. I have 2 of these in my stash awaiting builds back to horse drawn using the Lindberg stage coach or cannon caisson kits. I built an original for a local hobby shop and I swapped the build for the kit. It is still in the hobby shop case. I would like to see a finished picture thanks for a fire apparatus build greg -
Great design, not only tune up the engine but the whole hot rod greg
