Thanks fellas I'll be adding as much cool stuff as I can find detailed dimensions on... Fender Jaguar, Music Man Albert Lee, Music Man Sterling Bass, a Rickenbacker 360 etc. I'll prolly even make a fiddle, an upright bass and, wait for it... a Banjo! (somebody once told me the definition of the phrase "perfect pitch" is when the banjo doesn't hit the sides of the dumpster as it's thrown away ) also working on a generic drumkit as we speak. Sorry to hear about your Hofner, Rich
-
yeah, I always liked the Hofner but I think it's just a tad too long, and I should've made it left handed
-
Hey guys, Thanks for the encouraging words... more pics of recent additions I'm gathering raw materials for a drum kit these days and I've got a couple of ideas to make cymbals for it too... for another day
-
Caravan? They made a kit of that?

I really like this kit, but so far it's all been "outside-looking-in"... I've never built one but I've seen them out of the box and I just fell in love with the detail in the interior molding. This one needs some opening doors but I have no Idea how one would make a slider I've had friends who have worked out of these vehicles and I'd love to try some of them: A catering business, with an appropriate lettering job and a huge wedding cake in back, a heating and air-conditioning business, with an appropriate lettering job and tools, hoses and some flexi-vent ducting (made from bendable drinking straws, maybe?) I really have a hard time understanding how this kit didn't fly off the shelf, back in the day... I'm on ebay as we speak to find myself one or six Thanks for the review, Adam Chuck -
well another update of sorts, It's been awhile, I know, but things are progressing slowly. I'm getting closer to getting finishing these things sorted out... Painting, strings, knobs... that sort of thing. Got a call from the trophy guy this afternoon. He's finished another batch of cuts for me. It should be the last of the guitars for awhile. I'll pick those up Monday afternoon. Anyway here are some pics of the previous batch... both as rough cuts and sanded to shape. Also shown are the "details" sheet and the two-piece Roland RD800 keyboard. Turned out pretty nice I think.

Very Nice, Brendon!

Thanks, guys I spoke on the phone with Indiana Metal Etching Inc. today and it will be cost prohibitive to try to include photo-etched details for these. At least until I sell a couple thousand of them... or a kidney! If anyone can point me in the direction of a "BUDGET" photo-etch person, I'm all ears. Otherwise, I'll probably cast the detail parts in a one piece mold. I think it'll be better to cast the details separate from the guitar itself. It'll make painting these easier. and the chances of trapped air in the molds are greatly reduced. If anybody has any ideas about more instruments, please lets hear 'em! I'm thinking a Explorer, Flying V, Fender Jaguar, Mustang, Jazz Bass. Ibanez Iceman... I'm a little behind the eightball on the older keyboard stuff but I do have a Roland RD-800 in the works. Let me know what you're thinking, and Thanks, again for your interest Chuck

Progress, at last! First, a couple of pics of the Strat and Les Paul with details in place: And the new stuff, that's taken me awhile to get out... looking for work is a full time job, Brothers. Gibson SG, Fender Telecaster, Rickenbacker 4003 Bass and Fender Precision Bass They all need work and it's slow work carving by hand

Hi, I like your garage... Found this...http://blog.modeljunkyard.com/2012/08/23/old-gas-station-diorama-3-garage-doors-hinges-video/ hope this helps

An update of sorts... I can't for the life of me get two-piece molds to work! Until I can get them right, I've reverted to using one piece molds for the guitars and we'll just have to sand flash off the backs. At least this way I can keep an eye out for bubbles in the resin. On a more positive note, the speakers have turned out pretty nice, so the amps and P.A. pieces will get a start soon.
-
Just now re-poured part one of the LP mold. I got 2 12" speakers in the same mold so I can start work on the amps. I used the "Quick-Set" RTV this time so by the time I get back from dinner, I should be able to clean it up and pour part 2. Waffle House here I come!
-
well... good news/ bad news time. The strat mold came out okay and the first pour from it only had a few bubbles! the les paul mold shifted or something and the back turned out concave and not rounded. on a positive note the surface details appear to have picked up nicely when I get the wife's ipad, I'll shoot a couple pics
-
it's me again... first half of both the les paul and the strat molds have been poured. I ended up not having enough of the "Alumilite 'Quick-Set" silicone to do these so I had to use what I had on hand, The "high strength 3" which takes a whopping 18-24 hours to cure so I'll probably be pouring resin just in time for Christ's return. If I'd thought about it, I could have waited for Hobby Lobby to open tomorrow morning, bought a pound of quick set and then poured and still be de-molding sooner... Oh Well
-
Well, I got called in to work today... and didn't get things started till late. Realized too late that I needed 1: batteries for my scale, 2: mixing cups, 3: stir sticks and 4: patience. I was all fired up and ready to get these things molded, then remembered that they needed a few last minute details added and that took longer than I thought. So anyway, they're in clay, ready for pouring rubber for two-piece molds and I should get home from work by 5PM tomorrow. later, Chuck
-
Just a quick (yeah, right ) update... I'm making progress slowly but surely. I am starting the mold-making process tomorrow morning. I've decided to cast the details in place at first until I can secure cost effective photo-etching. Been laying out the next batch of instruments and so far I've completed a Rickenbacker bass, a Gibson SG, a Fender Telecaster, Jazz Bass, and a full scale piano keyboard... I'll probably do a Roland keyboard and maybe even a baby grand Still thinking about amps and which ones to try (Marshall, Peavey and Fender all come to mind) Thanks for looking, Chuck I've also been busy laying out a set of decals with different guitar finishes for both the Stratocaster and \the Les Paul. And I'll post pics of the resin as they get demolded
