Nice work, Art Is this the latest Revell kit? If so where did your flathead come from?

after recently getting back into model cars, I was digging thru some old boxes of junk... I posted a couple of these re-finds in the truck section. I can't remember the reason for quitting on this thing. Old 76 or 77 El Dorado promo had it's roof broke so I found a roof in one of the many junk boxes. I think it was a custom option from an old AMT 3-in-1 70's Implala, but that's just a guess. anyway... I'll need to make new A-pillars and get the dashboard down a bit but I'll have to find a C5 vette to donate the motor trans and diff. hopefully it won't take another 14-15 years to finish! Wish me luck!

on a side note, the Meng F350 seems to me to be an excellent opportunity for the aftermarket... 1: resin single-cab 2: resin extended-cab 3:resin long bed 4:resin dually conversion 5:resin dually long bed 6: resin gas burner v8 7:resin gas burner Triton V10 8: resin 2WD conversion list could be alot longer... pardon my ramblings

Revell couldn't justify the cost of tooling up a flathead ford v8 for either of the merc's? IIRC they had a pretty nice one in the '37 pickup that we could have made do with... just a thought. or do I have them out of order?

Hi guys I found this at a local antique store for $5 about 8 years ago. it already had the smoke discoloration, and the paper based "Dannon Yogurt" decals were toast. I'm not really sure about the scale (bumper to bumper it's right at 9 inches long) I think it could be a place to start. it has a battery compartment (1-D cell) and light bulbs for the headlights and taillights. I'm missing the lenses and all but the drivers door. Kinda cute huh?

Wasn't sure where to post this but it's "Light Commercial" I guess, Right? After getting back into model cars I found a few things I started years ago... here's one of them I plan to finish soon: I'd originally planned to power the lift with a screw-drive but couldn't find a motor slow enough. sorry so dirty... storage will do that to ya Handrails, steps and safety updates soon, Oh and a decent set of wheels

Wow! that's an awesome looking motor, my friend... LOVE the rust on the exhaust manifolds! -
Hey Tom, I like the subtle grain on business cards for interiors... some of them are SPOT ON for 1/25 scale leather! Awesome idea man... Chuck

Better license plate maker than ACME?
SlotDaddy1963 replied to Jantrix's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
found a font for US plates: http://www.fontspace.com/dave-hansen/license-plate I like to use Adobe Illustrator and print onto label paper... then cut, peel and stick Hope that helps. Chuck PS I'm about to send an illustrator file to a local trophy and engraving shop that he'll laser engrave for me. One of the images in the file will be several 1/25 vintage Alabama licence plates. The laser will remove a small layer of material leaving a slightly raised pattern behind... hopefully looking like the stamped, embossed characters on the plates. if this works out I'll upload pics -
Missed a few scratches... Into the brake fluid! Should've known!

Fully willing to admit the doofus part, just ask Wifey! Kinda new to the forums but not new to screwing up paint... Come to think of it, it was an AMT Merc the first time I tried Easyoff BTW I was spraying Dupli-Color Acrylic Lacquer, so as I'm writing this the car has been scrub-sanded and reprimed! Love modern chemistry!!! (also there is apparently a point past which the Tamiya paint stand will CLICK and then it takes an effort to remove from the turntable base.) Thanks again for all the help

Dad's '40 - What should I do with THIS?
SlotDaddy1963 replied to Baugher Garage's topic in WIP: Model Cars
If you make the diorama one of your figures could be next them with an angle grinder in their hands... like they're preparing to use them in a build just a thought Chuck -
Thanks for the quick replies! Both solutions sound good at this point.... kits are too expensive to smash with hammers! Thanks guys Chuck

Had my Revell '49 Merc primed, smoothed out and on the Tamiya paint stand... my buddy warned me but did I listen? Big Fat Hairy NO!!! Outside with my rattle-can, laying down a particularly slick black paint-job and... (for those who don't know, the Tamiya paint stand spring base attaches to the turntable base with a simple taper joint cap-over-tube joint.) next thing I know, things come apart and my slick black paint now has horticulture in it... dried up grass and weeds all over the roof and trunk! Now what do I do? any help would be greatly appreciated Chuck
