  1. I use lifecolor paints on my airbrush. basically i was cleaning by spraying until it was clear and after 3 or 4 uses, it wouldn't spray. i took it apart and found there was dried paint in the brush. I used a thin wire to clean it out. Now what i do is wipe out the cup with a napkin, use cleaner or water to get the rest out, then i use a qtip to clean out the base of the cup for any dried paint. Then i spray with water or cleaner for a full cup.. then i take out the needle and wipe it. Then the wire to clean the paint inside the brush. It takes a while, but i know when im ready to paint next time its ready to go
  2. I had gotten one of tye 20 dollar airbrush from ebay and it wasn't bad. i accidentally broke it by over tightening the tip and that was it. However it let me see what i thought of airbrush in general. I Bought an iwata from hobby lobby for like 70 dollars. Its good. My only complaint is the long cleaning process. i spray 1 piece for 5 seconds and then i have to clean it for 15 to 20 minutes to make sure the paint doesn't dry inside
  3. dot 3 brake fluid will get rid of paint, but it will make the plastic brittle if you keep it in too long
  4. I redid the tank. I think it looks better. Im still working on the detailing of the engine and exhaust, but im pretty happy with it so far
  5. I sanded it smooth and brush painted it to give it similar textures . It looks much better. There is still the black underneath so its not just single color. I will post a picture after it dries
  6. Here is the final picture. I think it looks ok.
  7. i did a wash on it now. i will post a picture in a bit. it better, but i think i over did it a bit.
  8. Here is the picture. im not sure how i feel about it.
  9. im going to try this. i painted it black this morning, and once it dries i will try the color above. i have an aquarium net that i am using as my mask. i will post a picture of it once it is done. hopefully it looks good
  10. i have military color that seems to match pretty close. its lifecolor russian uniform color. it seems really close to me. i think i will use it. i might try to blend in a darker color to get it better this is the color
  11. how would you describe this color on the gas tank? flat gold?
  12. The decal in question is already on the model
  13. I was kooking through my prior builds and i found my Peugeot 206 rally had yellowing of the clear part of the decal. Unfortunately i didnt clearcoat the decals when i built it Any help is greatly appreciated
  14. i built the heller renault 5 rally a while back, it was pretty nice kit. i also have the tamiya version as well, but its horrible. it was one the motorized kits, so there is no engine detail at all. i have the tamiya 205 kit, but the body is a bit warped. i am trying to tape it together now to see it it will go back to the right shape. i ordered the nunu/platz peugeot 306 kit. its not group b and it doesnt have an engine, but i really like it. i am looking at the hasegawa lancia 037 kit. its not cheap, so i am going to try to find some reviews before i buy it. it looks like the aoshima lancia s4 kit has tremendous engine detail, but i havent found the kit for under 100 dollars. i dont want to spend that much.
  15. they have a lot of nice kits. i looked through them and it gave me good ideas for research. generally, how are hasegawa kits? do they fit together ok?
  16. Hi I am interested in building an old group b rally car. I am looking for one that has full engine detail, but one that will fit together nicely without too much issues. I am not good at scratchbuilding and typically it ends in failure when i attempt it. i prefer hatchback style cars, but it certainly doesnt have to be a hatch. I have been searching for 2 days, but my google skills seemed to have failed me. are there any current kits out there that have full engine detail? I am located in the USA, but will order overseas if the kit is good quality. i recently found kits by plats/nunu on the hiroboy site, but it looks like they are curbside any help would be greatly appreciated.
  17. this is very great. which kit did you start with? is it the revell snow plow?
  18. Here is my test gmc grill. It looks ok, but i dont think its quite right. I don't know if i will try it again Maybe i will try a gloss coat next time. This looks too much lije just silver paint
  19. the one i was looking at was an 85 gt, v6 with a stick. it was a long time ago, but i think it was red.
  20. very beautiful
  21. i remember trying to buy one of these used at 17. my parents wouldnt let me because the 4 cylinder one had caught fire. the one i wanted was the 6 cylinder, but that didnt matter to them nice build. it really brings back memories
  22. I ordered stuff from Illinois to nj thst was shipped jan 3rd. It was only delivered today, jan 20. I had ordered something last month that took 30 days, from the usa. I had something that was shipped within the state as a 2 day shipment, and it took 8 or 9 days. At this point I guess i will only buy stuff that ships fedex or usps.
  23. Its not everywhere. Is it possible there is too much air pressure and the paint is drying before landing? Or maybe the airbrush is too far back?
  24. I saw on a video on youtube that the dude dull clear coated the chrome plated parts to make them less plastic looking. does anyone else do this? i am trying it on a test piece grill but its still drying i can post pictures tomorrow if anyone is interested, but if anyone has done it before, i am interested in seeing the results
