  1. There was a dealer that had a never sold f150 lightning. I dont remember their price but it was a lot. Im hoping i remember correctly that it was a lightning. it was a ford pickup that was rare, that i will say for sure.
  2. I got the crew chief for xmas, is that the same kit
  3. Is there supposed to be decals with the open road camper set? I got one but it has no decals I might be talking about a different one. Im referring to the one that has the camper by itself from model king
  4. great, thank you very much. i started the 66 flare side this morning and looks good. i prefer the look of the 70 over the 66, so i will pickup the 70. the one i had in the 69, was way too big, warped and hung over the edges too much. it was pretty horrible
  5. do you know if they have ever fixed the hoods on the 70's ones. I am looking to buy the moebius/model king 1970 short bed, but if the hood is still too big and super warped, im not going to bother https://www.hobbylinc.com/model-king-1970-ford-f-100-custom-cab-plastic-model-truck-kit-1:25-scale-1228
  6. I am interested in buying a 1966 ford f100 kit but was curious if they still had issues with fitment and warping or if that had been resolved. I Had bought the 1969 kit and i think the 1970 kit and the hood was so horrible that i eventually gave up. Also, what is the difference between the styleside, custom and styleside short One is a 65 instead of 66 but i dont see whats different. Obviously the short is a short wheelbase but the others?
  7. which kit is this from?
  8. i am assuming that i got a bad kit. essentially the plastic is so soft that when i cut pieces, it sometimes tears more than cuts. imagine putting plastic in boiling water for 1 minute, that is how soft the plastic is
  9. For christmas i got the Revell GMC snowplow truck kit. I already had that kit but somewhere along the build it stopped because i messed it up. However, i still had the kit that wasnt finished. Today, i opened the one i got for christmas, the same exact kit, and found the plastic is like completely different. its very soft, hard to cut with a razor, it tears away, not smooth cuts. I had a similar situation with the chevy LUV kit, but i assumed it was just that kit that had the issue. the one i have at my house it probably 2 years old or so, i dont remember, but i got the kit when it came out. Is this softer plastic the new material that revell is using? or did i get a bad kit? The chrome is different as well, it doesnt feel like it as good of quality either, like its seems to flake off maybe. i actually decided to use the bumpers from the old kit because they look much nicer.
  10. i tried to use a hairdryer while it was taped and i tried to twist it back. unfortunately neither helped. I tried gluing the pieces to it to straighten it out, and it is pretty good, but not perfect. however, its as good as its going to get now that i glued it in place. i actually put it back in the box and im going to work on the gmc pickup from revell/monogram instead. although i prefer the look of the ford more, the revell/monogram looks to be like a much more detailed kit. its going to be part of my 2021 big diorama that i have planned
  11. here are the pictures. i didnt dust off the model because last time i tried to dust a model that was put together so long ago, pieces started to fall off. the paint is nissan millenium jade, i bought from england. it also has the nismo photoetch set from tamiya. if i remember correctly, it had a very thin pre-cut carpet to be used. was very nice. as i mentioned above, the bumpers and side skirts are from the z-tune kit, which took a lot of cutting. over all it was 3 kits, the r32, r34 ztune, and r34 vpec2 kit, plus the photoetch set. it was also my very first time with an airbrush https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-12604-nismo-r34-gt-r-z-tune-photo-etched-parts-set--132902
  12. i have built the tamiya r34, and i cut the half engine out of it and put in the engine from the r32 kit. basically if you cut the engine out, and leave the transmission in place on the chassis and glue the engine to it. then you need to cut the hood out and build a firewall and the engine compartment. there is an engine compartment kit, i think by aoshima, but it doesnt fit the tamiya kit. the tamiya is that much better that its worth the extra effort. by far the tamiya is the best in detail. if you try to take the engine and transmssion from the r32, it doesnt fit right and you have to cut the chassis and it looks bad. the one i built was done about 13 or 14 years ago or so. i can take pictures of it if you are interested. i also put the z-tune bumpers and side skirts on it. it took a ton of cutting since a lot of the stuff was molded in on the body on the z-tune. it looks pretty good, but certainly not perfect. it took me about 1 year to build doing it for about 1 hour or so per day, nearly every day. The biggest issue with all of it is the cutting of the hood. one slip and you essentially need to start over with a new body. i think it took me 2 or 3 tries. also, the r35 engine is not the same as the r34. i built the r35 kit from tamiya. it was ok, but very basic
  13. I have an amt Firestone 1978 ford pickup and the bottom bed piece is warped. Is there anyway to unwarp it? Right now i have it taped flat but last time i did that, it didn't help. i have also used hot water and it shrunk the piece Any help is appreciated
  14. i would typically just strip it with brake cleaner or your favorite stripping chemical and respray. just make sure to wash it with soapy water to make sure you clear off the chemicals
  15. ok thanks for the confirmation. i spent about 2 hours sanding it get it right. i think its as close to perfect im going to get it. unfortunately for me, this is a car i really want to build, so i will deal with the issues. i typically dont bother with builds that need so much "massaging" to get it right since i have such little time to work on them
  16. i have the lindberg ownes deluxe cruiser that i got really cheap on ebay. i havent built it yet, but it looks nice. https://www.amazon.com/Lindberg-Owens-Deluxe-Cruiser-Plastic/dp/B01N0SYVXP its not by round 2, but the revell kit from a while back named gone fishing, was a ramcharger and a boat. i did build that one, and it came out ok. however, i had one that was super warped also. this boat was released in a few different sets. the gone fishing seems to be the easiest and cheapest to find. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/revell-7242-gone-fishing-set--947548 there was a thread on this site from last year with kits that had "add in" stuff, like the dirt bikes. i remember there was a couple of different boat kits from revell. there was a racing boat, i think with an f150, but i dont remember specifically,.
  17. i am currently working on the 1986 monte carlo ss from revell. https://www.amazon.com/Revell-1986-Chevrolet-Monte-Carlo/dp/B07XGDKYJ8/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2K42D173EDQQA&dchild=1&keywords=monte+carlo+ss&qid=1607976699&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011&rnid=2941120011&rps=1&s=hobbies&sprefix=monte+ca%2Caps%2C193&sr=1-1 I found the front bumper has the 2nd worst fitment i have ever seen in a model and i am curious if others have had the same issue. Essentially the bumper pops right on, but there are gaps on both sides where there is a thing hole basically. like if you held it up to the light, you would be able to see right through it. i slowly but surely sanded it down so there is no more gap, but this is the 2nd revell model released this year that had terrible fitment issues. I dont typically see these issues in revell kits that were made in the last 30 or so years. (the trucks from the 70s had some poor quality), but generally i feel if im getting a revell kit, it typically goes OK. did i get unlucky or is this pretty common for this kit. BTW, i say this is the 2nd worse, the AMT 67 mustang fastback is the worst i have seen for a front bumper. its as if it was made for a different kit
  18. this is how i do it as well
  19. did you find the plastic to be really soft?
  20. its a cool looking model its so weird to me that cars from when i was a kid are now considered classics. getting old snuck up on me. i remember the days of looking at cars in the used car lots, dreaming about the 5.0 GT. this model brings up a lot of old memories
  21. thanks guys. that will make it a bit easier i think to put a normal shine on it
  22. Im building the mpc 1932 Chrysler kit, and i always try to build cars like they would have been at the time they were made. So would a brand new car from the 30s have dull paint? Or may it would be modern day semi gloss?
  23. thank you for looking into this. i certainly dont have the abilities to do the cut and chop job. i picked up the nissan sunny kit, which certainly isnt the one i was looking for, but fits the job as a japanese very small pickup.
  24. does anyone make the mazda rotary pickup in 1/24/25 I think the answer is no, i google searched and found nothing, but i figured i would give it a shot this is the truck i am referring to https://news.pickuptrucks.com/2018/03/1975-mazda-repu-could-a-taste-of-the-past-be-a-hint-of-the-future.html thank you in advanced
  25. i just bought the monogram chevy luv street rod, and started building it. i found the plastic is so soft. cutting it seems like it wants to tear instead of cutting firmly. I believe this is one of the newer releases. I just wanted to know if maybe my kit is messed up or if they are all like this? If this is typical, are all the monogram plastics really soft now?
