i always try hobby lobby first for models since they are the last store within 30 minutes of my house to carry them. the next closest place is 1 hour away. with that said, i went to hobby lobby store, got 1 model i wanted, and there were no others that even remotely interested me (basically the same old stuff they have had all year). i went to their site and there were 2 kits i liked, but had them in the stash. when i go to the revell and amt site, there are many that i like but dont see on hobby lobby site. i bought most of them at scale hobbyist, which has great prices (the best i have seen anywhere, besides the 40% off stuff) the next place i will go is amazon, and then ebay last. with that said, i was disapointed to see hobbylobby site is now charging a 3 dollar fee for shipping for it being "the busy season"

i dont know if this is posted elsewhere, but loooking at hobby lobby website, most if not all. models are on sale, no coupon needed https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Model-Kits/c/9-184 unfortunately, i just bought the gmc snow plow pickup before the sale. but i used the coupon, so i paid the same price. i dont think you can double up on the coupon and the sale (i dont work for hobby lobby and i am not getting any commissions or anything. just wanted to share with my fellow modelers)

sheet styrene to scratch build a popup camper
youpey replied to youpey's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
maybe i will pickup the el camino kit and cut it to fit my needs. that might be quite a bit easier for that i need. i am mostly looking to make a trailer, but really wanted to make that popup. the problem, i was trying to keep it around 20 to 30 dollars, which looking at it closer, probably would not be realistic. at least with the el camino kit, i can cut it and make a trailer kit to make it look like it is being towed. thanks for the help -
I have been looking on and off for years to build a popup camper plastic model, however i have had no luck finding anyone that makes it. i have come to the conclusion, that i will need to scratch build it. As a kid my parents had this popup camper from the late 70s or early 80s. it was a starcraft brand and it looked almost exactly like this. If you look closely, you will see the aluminum (or tin maybe, i dont know the outside material) is pretty much just flat, but has these 3 lines through it. i have been trying to find sheet styrene that looks even relatively similar, but not having any luck. i was thinking of getting plain sheet styrene and then gluing on top of it in thin strips, the currugated metal https://evergreenscalemodels.com/collections/0401-0mm-opaque-white-polystyrene-corrugated-metal-siding its not just 3 lines, but it looks like it lower than the rest of the metal, slightly. any ideas on how i could achieve this. this is my goal, but if i cant get this exactly, then i will just use plain sheet and a straight edge and just cut in 3 lines evenly spaced with a razor. thank you in advanced

distinct list of model cars
youpey replied to youpey's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
i will check out scalemates next. i found a search that doesnt give me unique, but wasnt horrible to go through on ebay. my exact search is below. it gives me all the years that they made cars. there was about 1200 results and most were duplicates. i would say there was about 10 to 15 unique cars, not counting different boxes and stuff, not trucks (1940,1941,1942,1946,1947,1948,1949,40,41,42,46,47,48.49) -junior -jr -decals -decal -part -parts -resin -
Is there a website that shows a distinct list of model cars? I am trying to find a list of the models from the 1940's. i was trying to look on ebay, but there are thousands of models, just searching for 1 manufacturer and one brand

Bullitt Mustang On Auction Block
youpey replied to TooOld's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You can see it's got some rust on it. If the owner restores is, it will be worth less? If he doesn't restore it, will it rot away? Maybe that is why they are selling it. For 5 million, I could think of a lot of things I would buy first. However if I had 5 million to blow on a car, I'm sure I would already have those things -
I'm a fan of trucks but...

When I first saw the picture I assumed it was covered to not show the real design. I honestly thought that -
I definitely think there is life outside of earth. The galaxy is so large, it is unknown in size. I cant fathom there not being life on other planets With that said, I dont believe there are beings from another planet visiting earth. The global coverup required to hide that would be near impossible. especially in the world today where so many people want to be internet famous Not related. I also think that the us never had people land on the moon. I think that was a government creation to help the us win the cold war. I think that if the us went to the moon, that we would have gone again and again. The rovers and such, I do believe

Can we see your model stash?
youpey replied to Fifer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I dont have any pictures right now but I have more models than I can build in my entire lifetime. My wife at one point said no more models until you finish one. One gets finished, then you can get one to replace it. I have more models than my local hobby store has. I made a joke one time saying that to him because I only buy paint from him. He asked why I dont buy any models. I told him I'm not allowed anymore because I have a stash larger than his stock. He didnt seem pleased but it was true -

What Kits Were Molded in Green?
youpey replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The monogram lotus esprit sport 300 is molded in dark green. However this model is a retrofit of a different lotus kit. This one does not go together nicely without some effort https://www.scalemates.com/kits/monogram-2970-lotus-esprit-sport-300--182496 The original version went together much better -
My friend got a new car Friday and was hit Sunday in the back while he was stopped at a stop sign. what's worse, the SUV that hit him, backed up and sped away. Now he has a banged up brand new car and has to pay his deductible to get it fixed. People make me so mad

In case anyone cares, I once again got the weed ad, even though I had previously clicked dont show this ad again.
-
This is the ad. I got it again. I googled how to take screenshots. If it's not weed then sorry for my post. I clicked the do not show the ad again now
-
My current car vw beetle supposedly has a noise maker in the engine compartment. Its supposed to make the engine sound louder than it is.
-
I'm getting an ad now for what looks like weed, I think. Weed is not legal in my state and I'm not a user (so it's not search history) This is a work supplied phone, and this site is fine when in on break but not if there is ads for illegal drugs. I'm not 100% positive its weed, but I'm pretty sure, but I'm not going to click it to verify. Unfortunately unless this ad issue is resolved, I cant come here on my work phone again and I rarely use my pc. I might use an ad block proxy on my phone because I like the site, but not enough to risk getting in trouble
