  1. i fixed a warped chassis using boiling water. however, i have also tried and messed up a warped chassis using this method. i kept it in the water too long and it shrank essentially i put it in the boiling water for a moment or two, and took it out and put it on the flat table and tossed cold water on it after i got it flat.
  2. for anyone that has built this, how does the hood sit? does it sit flat. When i tried to build the prior ranger pickup the hood sit horribly to the point that i boxed it up and refused to finish it.
  3. i dont remember the rule. you can paint one type of paint over the other, but not the other way. i dont remember if it was acrylic over enamel or the other way. typically i always force myself to use the same type of paint and primer
  4. this is really awesome. i cant wait to see more pictures
  5. i called my local hobby lobby and they said they didnt have any. i am not sure if he just looked on their site or if he actually looked in the isle. I bought one on ebay but cost me over 30 dollars with it shipped,. i always like to buy 2 in case i made a mistake. i am sure i will eventually find another one. especially with this kit, i love the 40/48 ford convertible kits from revell. they are terrific
  6. the greased lightning kit seems to be quite difficult to find these days (without overpaying). was this limited production or something? even on ebay there was only 1.
  7. i had never seen these before. they are stunning builds. its hard to believe how good those came out.
  8. Thank you for posting. Your article is the one i found on a different site but i didnt know the rules of linking to other sites.
  9. i was able to find the difference on a different site. i cant seem to delete the post though. thanks
  10. what is the difference between these 2 kits? i think they were out at the same time, so i am not sure why the different boxes
  11. how is the 1940 AMT Ford Sedan kit? is it accurate?
  12. Funny story. i called my local chain hobby store asking for a specific AMT kit Me: i asked do you have the AMT Ford kit? Them: we dont have that year, but we have this year (tells me the year i was looking for) Me: ok, but it says AMT? Them: Yes, but going forward, you dont need to ask about the company, AMT, revell, they are all the same company. just ask which car you are looking for Me: AMT and Revell are the same? Them: Yes. Me: Interesting Drives to chain hobby store to find the model they said they had is not the model they said they had. sigh
  13. i have historically stayed away from AMT because i have been burned so many times, but this thread has me thinking i need to check this one out is this the right kit https://www.amazon.com/AMT850-AMT-1940-Ford-Coupe/dp/B00MTV6UOI
  14. it makes no sense when you can contact the manufacturer and get replacement parts for free. i had bought the revell ramcharger and the body was toast. completely warped and crushed from bad shipping. i contacted revell, and they just asked me to send them the proof of purchase. i sent it and in a few days they sent out a new body. i dont think i had to pay for anything except the stamp. i think they even said i only needed to send the proof of purchase because it was a body. if it was just a misc bit they wouldnt have bothered.
  15. i was saying to my friend, i think it would be awesome if they had a post saul season. like him as a lawyer but doing shady stuff. even if its just 1 or 2 cases per season. like corrupt matlock. i would watch it
  16. my friend mentioned that next season might be the last. the creators of the show didnt want it going longer than breaking bad
  17. i am so disappointed the season is over so soon. it was such a great ending to the season. this is absolutely my favorite show
  18. now that you pointed it out, i cant unsee it. i didnt see it before you pointed it out though. I am glad you pointed it out though. i am very particular about stuff like that. thanks for all the help on this guys. i went from being sure i was going to buy it to, probably not. i might just build the 1940 ford convertible or 1948 ford coupe kit. i built the 1948 ford convertible a couple of years ago, and that was a joy to build
  19. what ridge are you guys talking about being not right? also, i see a lot of gaps on the hood. do these not fit right?
  20. I am looking to buy the Galaxie Limited 1948/1947 Chevrolet Aerosedan/fleetmaster. However, i am having trouble finding much information or my google skills are failing me. As far as i can see, these two kits are exactly the same, except the one labeled 1947 fleetmaster has optional wood panels. I couldnt find anything that said the one with aerosedan having wood panels. Are these the same kit, maybe just a rebox? Also, is this kit worth the high price tag? i mean its well past tamiya kit money so i am hesitant to buy it. I saw a couple of build on this site, but i couldnt find much on the accuracy and the overall fit and finish of the model. if this kit has poor fitting parts, i am certainly going to pass on it. nothing crashes a build for me more than poor fitting kits.
  21. i was going to post up about the fees, but it seems someone else already did. what i will say, it up charge the shipping a bit. they charge you fees on the shipping twice. first for the sell fee and then the paypal fee. if something is going to cost me 5 dollars to ship, i will charge 8 or 9, assuming you already have boxes and tape. if you need to buy that, then you should charge for that too. i would check out amazon. i havent used it myself to sell, but i heard the fees are much, much lower.
  22. i bought it just the other day. the front and rear bumpers dont fit great. It will need some love to get it right. That is as far as i got because i dont have any love left to give
  23. Yesterday i went to 5 guys hamburger place for dinner. i always sit at the same table near the counter. Last night a lady came in and went up to the counter and had this exchange. Lady: I am looking for the manager Boss: I am the boss, how can i help you Lady: I would like to speak to someone about a job Boss: You would need to fill out an application online. I can give you link. Lady: I already filled it out online, but nobody has called me back, i want to speak to someone about it to see why I havent been called yet Boss: Unfortunately that is not handled here. Lady: (i didnt hear what she said next) Boss: You dont need to give me an attitude, I can't help you, its corporate. Lady: (Raising voice) I am not giving you an attitude. How did you get this job, did they pull you out of a nursing home. Boss: (Walks away) Lady: (Yellling) You shouldnt work here you old <expletive> . How did you get this job Boss: Let me get your name, Can you tell me your name. <more expletives from the lady> Lady leaves.
  24. the revell 48 ford is one of the nicest kits i have ever built. it has a ton of little bits and takes a while to build, but it is excellent. you can build a real show stopper with it if you have the talent...i dont, but some people do the 1940 ford convertible is also nice. they share many parts. the 66 gto kit, if its the one i remember is also very good. I will probably pick up that tractor, but i am not sure why. i dont have any real interest in farm equipment, but it looks neat in the picture. I will definitely also buy a couple of them 48 fords. for sure
  25. i got the 68 kit in the mail yesterday and the front bumper is just not lining up with the rest of the car. its pretty significant in size difference. too much to sand down. i didnt remember this being a problem on the last one i bought, but i didnt finish that one. well, the AMT 67, the one i thought was horrible, is actually better than this one. i guess i will just build that one instead.
