427 OK . I am not a Chevy guy I just want to build a 64 with the 427 hood, glassed in headlights and the side pipes for my fishing buddy I have Monogram 65 Street machine and was wondering if I would need the 63? The hard part will be finding 10" Ansens for the front and 12" Ansens for the back

What would it take to build a 64 with the 426 stinger hood with a 327 engine ?

Not a lot of good Hobby stores around Portland anymore. Tammies is about the best. Hobby Town on the east side but carry mostly just kits and very few accessories. Coyote Hobby in Oregon City (on Main St) carries some kits not as many as Hobby Town but better prices.

I went to my first race at Half moon bay when I was 13 or so, would be in the early 60's. Only remember two things, almost getting ran over be a Wiilys running across the staging lanes and watching Tommy Ivo's Show Boat make a run. After that back to Oregon where I went to few at PIR and Woodburn but didn't get into it much. Like I said I will build it the way I like it but thanks for all the information .Never to old to learn.

I guess it actually doesn't matter to me. I like the look and will be building something similar in the future. Just call it a "Nostalgia" racer. I build for myself anyway tr not to worry to much about "correctness" on the all builds.

From what I found out so far it was raced in the 60's and 70's. It seems to have a two buckets and some upholstery. Not sure but the the crank had to be at or below 24" to the ground. This looks a bit to high. Cant find much on tire width rues for 60's

So what class would a 64 Belvedere with a straight axle, blown Hemi and real wide slicks, one racing bucket seat, no other interior and a roll cage run ?

I will be watching this build. Looking good. My current build is a 64 Belvedere and starting a companion build a 64 330. I needed the Dodge to be a 4spd so I switched the engine/trans between the two. Also had to switch the dashs in order to get the right pedals. Looking forward to seeing more updates

Discussing a couple of the car build shows with my son the topic of "Zoomies" came up. One both shows they put them on a El camino and a van, both coming out the side just in front of the rear fender well (I thought both looked silly). I am trying to define what a "Zoomie" . I was thinking separate pipe (one per cylinder) headers that are up swept. A google image search showed several different types. Could not find any real definitions on line.

Any tips on doing battery cable ends at the battery ? I know you can get photo etched ends but they seem to be either out of stock or you have to spend at least $25 to order. Thanks

I think this is what I will do. I thought of making the hinges function like the 1:1 do but the logistics of getting it to work right are way above my skill level. Thanks Tom & Snake for your responses

I mostly build Hot Rods so I don't encounter hood issues. My current set of builds (4 64 Mopars) have hoods that I would like to display open and closed. Some kits have hoods that open and are held up by the hinges thru openings in the firewall, these don't. Either you have them hood up or hood closed. So should I build them without the hinges and just set the hood aside or is there an easy way to make them pivot open and stay up? Two of them will be drag cars and will have removable hoods with hood pins but the other two will be street racers.
