  1. I never checked the humidity before. It will be awhile until it stops raining. I will check it when the time comes.
  2. Yes they are all lacquer, I tried the enamel and didn't much care for it. I also used the MCW lacquer primer and lacquer clear
  3. Same as others, Paint was smooth after spray but mottled after as it was drying
  4. No but the area is not heated well and open to some outside elements
  5. Same prep? yes Same Primer? yes Same spay location? yes Painting during rain can bring moisture into effect. , Currently 85 percent humidity Do you have moisture trap on your set up? yes
  6. The first 4 were painted just a couple weeks before the weather got colder and wetter. I think I will hold off painting any more until the weather improves. Until then I have some other parts to put together and some sanding to do.
  7. I have been building about 8 Shelby Cobras in deferent variations. I have been using MCW laquears exclusively. The first first 4 turned out great, some with painted stripes. On the next 4 I can't seem to get a smooth finish, it comes out a bit rough. I am using the same airbrush, air pressure and technique the only difference is the temperatures are a bit colder , about 60deg and there has been more rain. Mike at MCW thought the temperatures may have something to do with it. Has anyone had this happen ?
  8. From my experience the Klear Kote Gloss gives a shinier finish. A true Candy Apple Red needs a gold base color
  9. My thoughts would be to use Alclad Satin Clear over Black or Dark Grey
  10. MCW carries some Candy Pink . https://mcwfinishes.com/shop/ols/search?keywords=pink&sortOption=descend_by_match
  11. Looks like it is Mustangs only in the employee parking lot
  12. These came in the mail the other day. Not sure when I will use them, Wanted to get some before they are discontinued. Fantastic products as usual.
  13. Dear It's the end of an era!Everything has to come to an end, and a few weeks ago, Gene Winfield announced on Instagram that he had decided to part ways with his iconic Mojave shop. Yes. You read correctly. The shop, located at 8201 Sierra Highway in Mojave, California, is now listed for sale on Redfin. The property, spanning over 5 acres, is priced at $595,000. It features a vast workshop area with over 10 enclosed bays, office spaces, and a residential section.I have had the honor of visiting the shop several times. Gene has always greeted us with open arms and taken the time to show us around the property. For me, this has been one of my Top 5 US Tourist Attractions. I will miss stopping by here, but I hope Gene knows what he does and that he has a plan that will keep him busy playing with what he loves the most: customs, hot rods...and ladies If you have been dreaming about becoming the caretaker of a historic shop, you now have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Click here to check out the ad.When Gene announced his new venture on Instagram, he also told us that there would be an auction where he would be selling a bunch of good stuff. "Nothing from my museum or my special tools will be available," he informed. The auction will be held on October 7, 2023, during the 16th annual Winfield-Watson Gathering car show. Check out the flyer below, and let us know if you went and were able to buy some goodies!Enjoy the rest of the newsletter, and have a great weekend!Best Regards,Sondre KviptKustomrama Editor
  14. Nice little package from Drag City . 32 R up-top. 2 57 T Bird roofs (1 with the porthole and 1 without). 3 Teardrop hoods , 1 for the T Bird, 1 for the 57 Ford and 1 for the 55 Ford. Thanks Ed.
  15. I picked up some Lime Line aways back but haven't tried it yet. I found by watching some videos from Little Daddy Roth painting videos. The main reason I bought it was it came in 1/16 inch and bends real well. Just waiting for a project to try it on, maybe for the stripes on one of my future Cobra builds. Check out some of the videos on youtube from Little Daddy Roth. They also have metal flake and other paint products but the flake looks out of scale for our use.
  16. Very nice, ordered one of each
  17. I use acrylics mostly and put them in a dehydrator to speed up drying. I found out that if you put painted parts that have tape on them it will leave a sticky residue on them. Not sure if this applies to all tapes but now no taped parts go in the dehydrator.
  18. I would buy a couple
  19. I use 3M blue vinyl tape 471 for the edges and Tamiya to cover the rest. I aways put a light coat of clear along the edge to seal it. The 3M comes in many widths and curves well
  20. I was just asking. Not sure if I ever will be using that part of the Trans-kit. I mostly bought it for the engine for a Cobra
  21. There is that. I have a whole mess of Cobras to put in a snake pit, I will see what happens after that. I have enough Mustangs to fill a corral trying not to add too many more. LOL
  22. I have a 68 but no 67. From what I have found so far the hood and headlights are whets different. Hopefully one of our Mustang Experts will chime in. I did get the Trans Kit and engine today, looks great.
  23. What is the odds of this fitting a 68 GT500?
