  1. That was my thought exactly! Steve
  2. Not in the '64, but all of my research suggests that they should be in the '65. Steve
  3. Yup, the air cleaner in the Moebius '65 looks just like that in chrome. The one in the Lindberg '64 is a little smaller & doesn't have the "dents" in the sides. Plus, the Moebius kit has the chrome valve covers, which I understand was what the '65 was equipped with, and I believe it has the air cleaner decal. I'm not certain what decals the '64 Belvedere has. I seem to be missing mine. Steve
  4. That was my original thought Wayne, but the air cleaner in the '64 is not quite the same as the Moebius one. It's a little smaller and shaped a bit differently. But it is very likely going to be an option for a Johan '64 Fury or Polara build. I seriously thought about that Wayne, but I just couldn't bring myself to put a 6 banger in this nice old Fury! Steve
  5. I'm in that process right now! Not only for Mopars, but trying to scrounge some non-tripower mid '60s Pontiac engines has become difficult as well. Steve
  6. This is one of the risks that you take when you use 3 different products to prime, paint & clear coat a body. There is no guarantee that they will work together. You're always much better off using "like" products whenever possible. As Karl stated, it looks like the issue is manifesting itself in areas where the paint my be "pooling" a bit, which tells me that it is more than likely a "curing time" problem. Enamels generally take much longer to cure than other paints. If you shoot anything over the paint before it has time to cure completely, you're opening yourself up to all sorts of "cracking" issues. Sometimes, the overcoat can dry more quickly than the paint underneath and that's never good. Picture a lava flow, with the molten lava underneath & the crust on the surface. Not a pretty picture when you're talking about paint. Steve
  7. I'm not particularly worried about the incorrect interior in this kit. Johan did that quite often with some of their kits. It would probably be easier to either make, or have made, some "Sport Fury" script decals for the trunk lid & front quarters than to mess with changing the interior. But I'm not going to bother with that either. Cars from this era were notorious for popping up with unusual configurations. Back in those days, it was relatively easy to order a vehicle with all kinds of strange options that weren't necessarily included with a particular package. I don't know if a Fury 3 could have been ordered with bucket seats or not, & I don't know why one would do that anyway, but for the purposes of this build, that's how it's going to be. Steve
  8. It's an original Johan kit. They're very rare & quite expensive, if you can find one. My guess is that there are some resin casters out there that have probably reproduced it. Steve
  9. My vote is for the Chevy II. At least you have some build options. What options do you have with these? A race car & a show rod. That's excitement! Steve
  10. Thanks much guys! I'm really starting to get the itch for this one again. The best part about it is that it should be a relatively quick curbside build. The most time consuming part will be re-scribing nearly all of the trim! The moldings are pretty faint in this kit, especially the side spear, so I figured that in order to make the foiling go easier, I had better do some scribing. I'm doing it to nearly every piece of trim on the car, so it's going to take a while. I have it about half way done now & then I need to fab the trim on the deck lid, do some filling & then it should be ready to prime. Back to the bench! Steve Here is the color that I plan on using This can of Duplicolor touch up paint is probably 30 years old! Hopefully it will not give me any trouble.
  11. For $25,000.00, I'll "walk" to your house! Steve
  12. Yeah, that's a new one for me! Almost had to have come from a custom. Steve
  13. Very nice Steve. I just finished one myself. The only real criticism that I have for you, is the fact that the top seams on your vinyl top are way too close together They should be much closer to the sides. But this is something that you still might be able to revisit. Steve
  14. I don't know a lot about the particulars of the "toilet seat", but in my little bit of research, I'm finding quite a few photos of Imperials without it. So regardless, I've decided that it gives it a cleaner look without it, so I think that's where I'm headed. Steve
  15. I know that in the late 60s & early 70s you could get nearly any option that you wanted on your Mopar. My parents used to add and subtract individual options on their cars when they ordered them. Steve
  16. Well, if you're asking what paint I use more than any other in the process of building, it's hands down clear coat! Yeah, I know, it's not a color, but that's what I use most. If the question is, what color do I tend to paint my models more than others, it would probably be one shade or another of red. But I like to stick to a pretty good mix of every color. I love unusual color combinations. Steve
  17. That was my assumption guys. The '65 Satellite engine should be the perfect transplant for this kit. I'll save the Hemi for my '66 or '67 Fury. Steve
  18. Is this the enamel stuff? You'll get much better results using Testors #2949 "Transparent Black Window Tint". It's a so called "Lacquer". It works way better than the transparent black enamel. Steve
  19. Very nice work Mike! I have yet to see a nicer example. The color is beautiful! It reminds me a lot of an MCW color that I used on a '66 Chrysler kit called "Spanish Red". Steve
  20. This is the second of my "old project Resurrection" builds. This one also had a bad paint job & was left for dead quite some time back. But it's stripped now & ready to be brought back to life. It will be a curbside build & I'm going with "Sunburst" for a color, which is a pale yellow. I thought that it sounded like a nice unusual color for an Imperial. This one needs a bit of work before priming. Mostly a bit of filling, sanding & scribing. As I had planned on the original build, I'm going with the standard trunk lid instead of the spare tire bulge. I think that it will make it look a little cleaner. Steve
  21. I've decided to dig out a couple of old builds that I had started quite a while ago & try to get going on them again. I started a thread on this '65 Plymouth Fury more than a year ago, but abandoned it because the paint job was not up to my standards. Now that that thread is basically defunct because of the Photobucket fiasco, I've decided to start a fresh one rather than try to resurrect the old thread. Originally, this was going to be painted a pale champagne gold with a white top, but I've decided on something just a little more interesting. I still haven't settled on an exact color as I'm still experimenting with the custom mix, but a kind of metallic gray-green will be the ultimate color. I've also decided to dump the original 426 Hemi that came with the kit & go with a 426 "Street Wedge" from the Moebius Plymouth kit. I have not been able to corroborate whether or not a Hemi was even available in the Fury in '65. Seems that it wasn't. Anyway, I'm close to being ready to start slinging some color on this one. Steve
  22. You might want to check your local store. There seems to be nothing about kits on the website, but while watching the news coverage tonight about the store closings, I distinctly saw a few model car kits sitting in the background in the video they showed. I would not be surprised if some individual stores do carry a few. Steve
  23. If you can tell me which kit they're from for certain, I know that I have a set of those somewhere as well. You can PM me if you really want them. Steve
  24. Well, I just learned something new. I never realized that the '58 Bonneville had a piece of chrome trim around the back of the roof! I just assumed that they were the same as the '58 Impala. Steve
