  1. I sent a few resin parts with my last batch, & while they didn't turn out as well as the styrene parts, they looked pretty good. The reason that they didn't turn out as well was most likely my fault. Prepping your resin parts for chrome is the key, & that's your responsibility as the customer. I don't think that there is a plater out there that will guarantee the finish on resin parts. If you do your job, Kustom Khrome will do theirs. Steve
  2. Cool! I can do that. I have some transparent blue acrylic that I use for airbrushing window tint. I'll just hit the steering wheel parts at the same time. Thanks for the info Craig! I didn't realize this fact with the Pontiacs. The only color I thought these transparent wheels came in was "Mopar discolored yellow"! Steve
  3. Did I miss something, or has this forum changed from a bunch of guys who like to build models to a psychiatrists office? I liked it better when it was a bunch of guys building models. Steve
  4. Somebody please help me! I can't seem to get away from these old Mopars & Pontiacs with transparent steering wheels! I was going to just leave this one, but then I overcame my period of laziness & went ahead with it. I also scratch made a shifter boot while I was at it. Decided I would build it as a 4 speed without the console. I've also decided on the color scheme. The turquoise exterior is gone, as well as the turquoise interior, in favor of black with a light metallic blue interior. As much as I hate working with black, I thought it would make an interesting combo. Steve
  5. Let me know what happens. I think I'll go to bed! Steve
  6. That's where I always wind up finding mine. Steve
  7. I think someone is having a bad day. There was nothing in either of your posts to suggest that you were anything but serious. Why would I suspect otherwise? Steve
  8. You might want to check your Lady Ga Ga case. Steve
  9. I don't think evisceration is warranted either, but it seems to be what he's getting anyway. Steve
  10. Didn't mean to get you worked up Bill. You'll also notice in my post that I said that I was "mildly" offended. I think it was more the way you said it than what you said. I'm somewhat guilty of "accepting glaring scaling & proportion mistakes from the model manufacturing companies with no question", mostly because I really don't care that much. It just sounds a little confrontational the way it was stated. I have no interest in making any enemies here, including the OP, I just think we need to be a little more understanding of other hobbyists opinions that may not be the same as ours. Now, that being said, let's get back to eviscerating Mark! Steve
  11. "Truth" is subjective in many cases, as is price. Steve
  12. I was mildly offended as well Bill. This is a big hobby. Everybody has there own thing & there's room for everyone. We're not curing diseases here, just building models. Steve
  13. That's a little harsh! I'm assuming you're joking. Steve
  14. A large part of your problem here is thinking that model building is just some frivolous, simple operation that can be handled in an afternoon. Most of the guys here have built for anywhere from a decade to a half of a century & have slowly honed their skills over a very long period of time. How does someone answer the questions you've asked with as many different ways of doing things as there are people doing them? There is a lot more complexity to this hobby than you will probably ever know. It's a little like asking a thousand different brain surgeons to give you a quick overview on how to remove a tumor. We get these "new guy, tell me how to build a model" people on the forums all of the time. Without asking very specific questions, you'll get nothing of any value, guaranteed. Steve
  15. Most of us are at the age where we can barely remember being a kid! But you're never too old to play with toys! Welcome Patrick! Steve
  16. I guess that you could just call this an oddity. The Johan boxes for 1961 have a list of several '61 convertibles that were never produced. I think that we could all agree that it would have been great if we would have gotten the '61 Chrysler 300 convertible!! Steve
  17. I watch it quite often. There always seems to be repeats of older ones on NBCSN in my area & it beats the hell out of watching carp like "Duck Dynasty"!! Steve
  18. Let's just say that I could keep working for a very long time, but it would take a lot of the excitement out of it knowing that there would be nothing new coming down the road. Steve
  19. I'm still trying to figure out what this is "actually" all about. It just makes me a little squeamish that someone who has never built a model, & has no interest in them, comes right out of the chute by using the name "ModelKitBuilder" as his profile name. You're not really off to a good start dude, but I wish you well on your endeavor. Steve
  20. I think we're in the minority Tulio. I love foiling too! Except for possibly vent windows! Steve
  21. When I was a kid, I used to buy a lot of my kits at a local small town gas station called "Webb's". It was kind of the pre-cursor to today's convenience store back in the late 70s. I remember the store's curator, Ozzie, kept a pretty good selection of kits on hand. Steve
  22. Nice work Gary! I love the color! Steve
  23. I don't have many pics. This was one of the first kits that I built coming out of my 10 year hibernation & I only took a few shots. Remember Bill, this is the Revell kit. Steve
  24. Haven't painted it yet, just have the paint mixed. I do have a really nice copper that I could use, but I've not been able to find any copper that was available on the '63 Pontiacs. Steve
