That's where I would go with it. I think all of these old annuals could use the benefit of today's building techniques. But that's just me. I just bought one a little while ago. I'm glad that I don't have to buy 10 of them!! Steve

I've found it's pretty easy to do the piping with some Tamiya tape & a little time. My hands are not all that steady anymore either. Masking tape can make them seem much steadier! Steve

Well, I had some issues with the paint on this one, so it's back to the drawing board. I used all of the turquoise paint that I had, so a color change may be in order. I do have another darker turquoise that I've thought about using, but there was no comparable color available on the Pontiacs in '63. I also have a dark blue & a silver blue that I've thought about, but I've already mixed my interior color, so I'm considering white with a turquoise interior. Steve

Where did you find the color Bill? Looks very good. I used an MCW color on mine, but it was a '64 Merc color called "Bittersweet". It seems to be just a tad more on the orange side. MCW does carry Geranium, but I happened to have the Bittersweet on hand. I'm a huge fan of the pinks & corals from the 50s! Very iconic colors. Steve

I think they're both great kits! I haven't built the AMT kit in many moons, but it was always one of my favorite AMT kits. The Revell kit is very nice as well. I did build one of them several years ago & thought it was a very good kit. Steve

As I said, I'm sure that they are not from the '63 Chrysler, but there were other Johan kits molded in this color. I've seen '64 Plymouths &-or Dodges molded in these brighter colors. The plastic was also thinner & more brittle than white or or some other colors. Steve

Don't know for sure which kit these wheels came from, but I highly suspect that they are from a Johan kit. I have a '63 Chrysler 300 molded in that exact color. I'm pretty sure that they are not from the '63 Chrysler kit, but if I had to guess, I would say that they probably come from a later '64 Plymouth Fury or Dodge Polara kit. Some of them were molded in this horrible color & they included racing & custom parts. Steve

I suspect that expression is prevalent everywhere. In Minnesota the quote is, "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute". Not sure what the current temp is at the moment here, but rest assured, it's cold! Looking forward to a heat wave over the next couple of days where it could reach the low 20s! Steve

Thank you everyone! I believe I've seen these hubcaps on some '63 Chryslers, but that doesn't mean that they were an option that year. Chrysler did have a habit of changing wheel covers on the 300 mid-year so it's possible that they were available in '63. The '57- '60 300 wheel covers were similar, but a little different from year to year. Steve

Do you mean the show in Rochester Minnesota? Don't you live in South Carolina? There is a "Hope it Don't Snow Show" in Rochester on February 4th. I've never been to it, but being as it's right in town, I might check it out this year. Steve

Great looking Nova Scott! I remember as a teenager, seeing a ton of these Novas everywhere & never really giving a second look. Back in the day, I think most guys kind of considered the Nova just a basic utilitarian mode of transport. But then again, I don't really remember seeing a lot of high end ones either. A large majority of them that I remember were basic 350 equipped cars. If there were more like this around, they surely would have garnered more attention! Steve

I've never paid any attention to any re-coat times with Testors paint & have never had any issues like this. I suspect that there could be an issue with re-coat windows with the Rustoleum paint, or their is just a compatibility issue between the two. Although I find that unlikely as Testors paints have proven themselves to be pretty much compatible with anything in my experience. I've used Testors clear gloss & flat lacquers over everything including enamels & acrylics with no problems. My question to Bill is, why so many dull coats? You shouldn't have to clear coat after every color. I would do all of my individual colors & then top it off with whatever you want to use for a finish coat. I did this same interior combo a while back & just topped it off with a light mist coat of pearl acrylic to give it a metallic sheen. Steve

Thank you Emmanuel! On my bench at the moment is an AMT '63 Pontiac Bonneville hardtop. The '62 Chrysler is an original '62 annual convertible & the kit came with the up top. I was lucky enough to get a built up that included the boot & the up top. Believe it or not, the 300 wheel covers are readily available. They are included as an optional "custom wheel" in the AMT '58 Impala kit. Steve
