  1. Nice Line-up Bill! I've been really "eyeballing" a '60 Bonneville hardtop I have yet to restore. After seeing a beautiful his & hers pair of '60s @ a car show this past weekend, I'm thinking that may be one of my winter projects. Steve
  2. I know the feeling! Steve
  3. Got the color coats on tonight. Color is 1960 GM "Shadow Gray". Not the best paint job I've ever done. A little bit more orange peel than I would have liked, but I'll take care of that with clear coats & polishing. Steve
  4. Oh, I'll bet you could find something a lot cheaper than that Miles. Does it need to be a hard top? If a convertible will do, there's a Model King re-issue convertible with the trailer & boat on ebay right now for less than $100.00. There's even a mint condition hardtop from Model Car Mountain with a buy it now price of under $200.00. That's a lot I know, but if you can get a mint, in the box '70 for $189.00, I'm sure, with a little time & effort, you could find a nice built up for $50.00 or less. Keep looking, they're out there! Steve
  5. Yes, it's a '61 Bonneville. One of my favorite Pontiacs! I'm really looking forward to the Mobius '61s When they come out! This body style, coupled with the usual Mobius level of detail, ought to be a real beauty! Steve
  6. No, I have never seemed to have that problem. I usually use several coats of primer & many times I'll use Testors lacquer primer for my first primer coat. It's a much more "opaque" primer & covers better than the Duplicolor. Then I'll use about 3 coats of duplicolor. I gives a smoother base & creates a better barrier to the lacquer than the Testors. Steve
  7. I just use the primer. Steve
  8. Well, I've got a few, & plenty more to build! Steve
  9. Thanks everybody! I guess I have to say it was fun, although my back was killing me, & walking all day didn't do me any favors. Steve
  10. I told my wife that there was always the possibility that I might bump into other forum members there, as there are a few of us in Minnesota, but I didn't think it likely. I guess there's always the possibility that I might attend future shows, but I won't know that until the time comes. All depends on what's going on at the time. But, I'll leave the window open. Steve
  11. Thank you Phillip! Like I said, competition is not really my thing, but it was kind of cool having someone hand you a trophy! Now I have to glue all the parts back on that fell off in transit! Steve
  12. Thanks Wayne! Yeah, the guys at this show gave me all the info for the NNL show & another one sometime in October. This one just happened on a sort of whim, but we'll see what the future brings. Steve
  13. My wife & daughter thought it would be a nice fathers day gift to take me up to Minneapolis to the Minnesota Street Rod Association "Back to the 50s" car show. A huge show with thousands of pre-1965 cars on display. They also tried to convince me to enter some of my builds in a model car contest that they have there every year. Well, I wasn't real excited about hauling my precious models 100 miles in the car & then humping them another mile on foot, but they finally convinced me to take a few along. Long story short, I wound up winning best in class for the stock class. Not a huge contest or vast competition, but kind of a big deal for me none the less, as I have never entered a contest before or won any awards, ever. A little silly really, but still kind of cool. Steve
  14. I don't shop at Walmart, but possibly for different reasons than others have stated. The parking lots give me heart palpitations every time I would enter one! You never know if you'll be able to get in or out unscathed. Once inside the fun really begins! The service just royally sucks!! You can't find anyone to help you, & when you do, they can't! I remember asking an employee in the dairy department where the energy bars were. He had no idea! I'm sorry, but unless you've been working there for less than an hour, you should know where the different departments are. Then there's the 25 check out lanes manned by 2 people, followed by bagging my own groceries. Customer service is virtually non-existent. I have worked for a fairly large mid-western grocery store chain for the past 8 years, & say what you will about some chains, their customer service is the best that I have ever seen. There is someone around every corner asking if they can help you find something, When the check out lanes begin to fill up, the front end managers will not hesitate to call any & all employees up front to check & bag, including the store director himself. Not a day passes when I do not see all 12 lanes & 6 express lanes all going at the same time. We even have a designated job title called a "greeter" who's lone job it is to walk around & look for people who need help finding things. Personally I work as a delivery driver for the "home shopping" department where you can place your order on-line & either pick it up, or have it delivered, free of charge! Our prices may not match what Walmart can do, but to our customers, the service is much more important than price. Anyway, I guess we're competing well with Wally World. There are 2 Walmarts in town, & we'll be opening our 4th store in the city sometime within the next year. We have customers that have shopped at our location for over 35 years & employees that have been there for even longer. Walmart could learn a thing or two about retaining customers & employees. Steve
  15. Got the last primer coats on it tonight. Busy tomorrow, but I should still get the color coats on it by Sunday night. Steve
  16. Thank you Austin, but I have learned that around here at times it's better to leave well enough alone than get into a pissing match that just makes enemies & leads nowhere. Steve
  17. Sorry guys. As I would not like to start another war on a post or damage any ones delicate sensibilities, I will delete the photos. Steve
  18. Me too! I'm a little high on it right now! Steve
  19. Nice Al! Man.....do you ever take a breath? Steve
  20. The seats I'm not sure about, but the interior tub is definitely from an MPC 1969 Coronet kit. Steve
  21. That's cool Mike! The hood scoop kind of gives away your age at the time. Only a 14 year old could think that scoop was aesthetically pleasing. Steve
  22. That's just Awesome Eric! The paint is just superb! I'm just guessing, but I'll bet you had a few hours into this one. Steve
