  1. That's amazing in itself! That some one who grew up without ever being around these cars could capture them to this extent. Maybe the rest of us just take them for granted. You're a master Yuri!! Steve
  2. Thank you so much Gabriel! Steve
  3. Thank you Tommy. I knew it would look much better in natural light. One of these days, I need to put together some sort of decent background though. Steve
  4. Sorry to bombard you with more stuff you've already seen guys, but the weather is holding & I believe this is the only other build that I needed to shoot outside. Thanks Steve
  5. Now "THAT" is the most sensible thing I've read in 9 pages of this total waste of a perfectly good thread! But please.....continue to eviscerate each other. Steve
  6. I bought these on line a while back for I believe it was around $17.00. Just about any color you could ever need. I don't paint mine, I paint the background & then mix my powder colors to what I want. I used these on both my '58 Ford & '65 Chrysler 300 builds & they worked great. I also just use thinned Elmers glue. Steve
  7. Thank you all! I really hate posting photos that I've taken inside in the winter. I really suck at it! A little sun goes a long ways in helping produce a more accurate photo. It especially helps bring out the paint colors. Again, thank you!! Steve
  8. Well, the windows are all down! That's a start. Steve
  9. It's about time we dodged a crappy winter! Very cold, but not much snow. You guys can have it this year. I'm sure we'll get it back next. Steve
  10. It's on order & headed your way! Steve
  11. Seems like that happens to me a lot! When I'm ready to buy, I wind up paying too much. A week later, the same kit sells for much less. I've learned that bidding on kits where the auction is ending on a week day is always a good idea. Steve
  12. The red wheels were one of those kind of quirky 50s things that I thought I'd consider. I've seen some odd, but actually kind on neat looking combos on these old cars. Examples; a '60 Plymouth Fury in yellow with a red interior? Another I've seen that kind of raised my eyebrows was a dark blue '57 Olds with red wheels. Anyway, I just thought red would fit with either white or gold, why not with both? Adding red for the interior would blend it together. Looks like the consensus so far is gray & coral anyway. We'll see if there's any more input. Steve
  13. I've had my eyes peeled for a '67 galaxie myself for a couple of years Andy! Just can't seem to find a decent one that doesn't go for $250.00!! Steve
  14. Thanks Mike. I usually try to stay away from too much red. Although I like red, & I've never seen a car that didn't look good in it, I like to try & use a little more unusual combinations. Helps keep my interest! A huge part of the build for me is coming up with a color that really grabs me. I think either of these combos would fit the bill, but I'm just undecided. I thought black would really show off all of that chrome trim, but I'm more partial to white. Either one would look good with the pale gold. On the other hand, for 50s cars, I just love coral! But I don't want to over do it. I already have several examples of variations of that color in my collection. But not one with metallic gray. Steve
  15. I have a '59 Pontiac Bonneville coming to the bench very soon & I'm blocking on a color scheme. Usually, I just look at a body style & get a feel for a good color, but this one is stumping me. I have it narrowed down to a couple of options & I'm just interested what people think. I do know I'm going 2-tone & I was originally going to go with either an off white or black body with a pale gold for the top, between the fins & the panel around the tail lights, with possible red wheels & a white & red interior with gold accents. Today I was going over color chips & ran across a pair of colors I really thought would look good as well. A medium metallic gray body with coral accents. Not sure about the interior color with that one, but probably gray & coral with possibly white, silver or black accents. What do you all think? Steve
  16. The old Revell tri-five kits had engine blocks with the crank shafts molded in & some pretty good valve detail on the inside of the heads. The pistons are molded into the block also. Even the underside of the intake was well detailed. I know there was at least one kit that had a separate crank shaft, but I don't remember which one. I know it was a chromed piece. Steve
  17. Thanks guys! I need to get a few of my '65 Chrysler 300 in the sunlight too. I think I managed to get the rest at some point. Lee, the up-top & the continental kit are both from Modelhaus. I don't know if I'll be able to function as a builder without those guys! Steve
  18. Just came today. More MCW paint. 1959 Chevy "Shadow Gray" metallic 1966 Mopar "Turbine Bronze" metallic 1967 Mopar "Light Green" metallic 1961 GM "Fawn Beige" metallic 1967 Pontiac "Royal Plum" metallic Steve
  19. Got a few new shots of the '58 Ford today. 60 degrees in Minnesota today!! WooHoo!! Steve
  20. If it's just "fogging" or "blushing" you can probably just polish it out. Steve
  21. I always got a kick out of this one! Steve "Pretty women out walking with gorillas down my street. From my window I'm staring while my coffee grows cold."
  22. Very good Harry! Steve
  23. They just don't get any nicer than that Yuri!! I can honestly say, I've never seen a better built example of this kit! & this one's been around for a long time! Just beautiful!! Steve
  24. Thanks guys! My intention was to get outside this weekend & get some decent out door photos, as the weather has finally began to improve a bit here in Minnesota. But, I was feeling a bit under the weather so I had to postpone. Hopefully soon as I'm not really "feeling" the pics I posted already for this build. I guess with spring coming on, I have plenty of time. Steve
