  1. Sorry Harry, I'm not a "progressive rock" kind of guy! Steve
  2. I've always loved the roof line on the '59 & '60 GM cars. One of the reasons I build so many hard tops. I still have a '60 to do as well. Steve
  3. I don't normally get too excited about these sort of customs, but this looks exactly like the type of thing I would like to do if I ever did one. Maybe just a "tad" low for me, but I love it! Steve
  4. Well, as can sometimes happen, I've begun to lose interest in a '62 Chrysler 300 build the more I researched this '59 Bonneville. So this one may be "leap frogging" ahead. Although I will still try to keep the 300 moving along also. I think the body prep is all done & ready for priming. I'll start doing that this evening. I also swiped a set of wheels from an old Plymouth kit as the originals were a little chewed up from over gluing, as is pretty common. A new set of Modelhaus "Satco" tires await as well. Steve
  5. That was my experience also. Any light colored color coat will yellow. Sometimes very quickly. Steve
  6. "You know I've smoked a lot of grass, Oh Lord, I've popped a lot of pills." Steve Three different ones! Steve
  7. This one may be a little obscure! Steve "You're hot stuff with a hat pin, & good fun with a handgun. You're nearly a laugh, You're nearly a laugh but you're really a cry"
  8. "Harry Doesn't mind if he doesn't make the scene. He's got a daytime job, he's doin' alright. Steve
  9. I think it was called "Judy Blue Eyes". Crosby, Stills & Nash. Or was Young still around? Steve
  10. "Sound of Silence". Simon & Garfunkel. Steve
  11. "Get Ready". Temptations? "Drive My Car". Beatles. Steve
  12. "Ride Captain Ride". Don't remember the band. Steve
  13. It's a paint "cross reference" site so make sure you don't get hung up on names. While the correct 1959 Buick color may be "Lido Lavender", it's listed on the MCW site as "Royal Amethyst", the Pontiac variant. Same exact color. Steve
  14. Thank you so much guys! Steve
  15. I have the MCW site & "Paintref.com" both on my toolbar so I can easily jump back & forth between the two. That way I can look at the colors I'm interested in on Paintref, & then see what MCW has to match it. It's a little more time consuming, but I'm sure the guys at MCW don't want to waste the time & effort to depict chips of every color they carry on the website. There are a lot of colors there. Plus as he says somewhere on the site, computer images are not necessarily accurate depictions of color anyway. Steve
  16. Thanks Charlie! I guess part of the decision to use dog dishes stems from my teenage years. When I was about seventeen & becoming interested in buying my first car, I came across a 1965 Newport in a small town about 15 miles from where I lived. It was in a little used car lot. A maroon 2 door hardtop with a beige interior in fantastic condition. I remember it having dog dish caps, which at the time I hated! The main reason I never considered buying it was the fact that it had a 3 on the tree! Didn't want to go there! Steve
  17. This is a Pontiac Art. Many of the Oldsmobiles were 2-tone. Even some of the Chevies. Buick & Pontiac.....not so much. I've also seen quite a few photos of '59 Bonnevilles with a 2-tone with the lower body under the side trim a different color than the upper. Not sure if that was an option either. Don't really like the look of it anyway. Steve
  18. Sharp! Not my style, but very nice. Steve
  19. That was always my understanding. Although I looked at the box of my '49 Merc & it says it's a 440. Steve
  20. Whiskey Drinkin' Woman! One of my favorites on the album! The only song I was not real fond of was "Don't Judas Me". & even that one was pretty good! Just too long! Steve
  21. Would anyone have any information as to whether or not this style of 2-tone treatment was available as an option on the '59 Bonneville? I thought I had seen photos of others like this, but the more I research, the less I find on it. From 99% of the photos I'm seeing, A 2-tone paint job on the '59 Bonneville consisted of, "body one color, top another". I kind of like this look, but I'd kind of like to keep this build a little closer to historically accurate. Steve
  22. Nobody Harry! As far as I could tell, they were never even an option on the 300 in '65. When I got the kit, it had some rather crappy 5 spoke mags on it. So I had to make a choice. Either order a set of stock caps from Modelhaus, (which I never liked the looks of anyway), use some sort of chrome aftermarket wheels, which I thought would make this big luxury boat look cheesy, or go with a set of "what if" dog dishes. I just thought it would add some interest & I guess it has. Everybody seems to make comments about them. Anyway, I kind of like the look on this car. Steve
  23. Thank you all!! Steve
  24. I just blow it out with the blower that God gave me. A good soft brush will help get all of the leftover bits moved around so you can blow them out too. Steve
  25. You can find the same set of metallic powder on ebay for a few dollars less Bill. At least I think it still is. Steve
