  1. Great looking stuff David! I've just become very disillusioned with the Testors clears as of late & would really like to find a good alternative. I'm hoping this is it! Oh, & by the way, the great looking paint makes up for the graphics! Steve
  2. I put it on pretty wet & this time of year I actually set my parts in front of the fireplace in my family room to sort of flash dry them. I also heated the paint before spraying. I thought that may help as well. So anyway, no fogging, just not real impressed with the initial shine. But, as I said, it should polish out well. Steve
  3. That's actually a great idea Joe! I'm really bad about keeping my jars clean. I keep that same channel lock that you speak of on my work bench at all times & some times that doesn't even work! Thanks for the tip! Steve
  4. I don't do resolutions either, but I do like to set an occasional goal for myself, especially when it comes to building. Because I know if I don't, I'll wind up like too many of my colleagues out there who get nothing finished. I would like to get at least as many finished this year as last. 10 is a good round number! Steve
  5. Well, as far as I can tell, it went on ok. No fogging that I can tell. The only thing I don't like about it is the tendency to "dull" down. I used four coats about an hour apart. Looked great right after spraying, but 10 minutes later it lost all of it's shine. But it went on nice & smooth & I do like the fact that it goes on thin So as not to cover any detail. The Testors stuff, with those horrendous nozzles, goes on a lot heavier. This isn't as shiny to start with, but I think it should polish out just fine. Steve
  6. Just got the new "Dremel Mini" for Christmas. Haven't tried it yet but the speeds are between 5,000 & 28,000 RPMs.
  7. I had never posted from Photo Bucket before, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Steve
  8. Thank you Ray! Steve
  9. Gypsy Red & Shoreline Beige! Very nice! I did a '55 a couple of years ago in Shoreline Beige & Neptune Green. I love MCW paint!! I use pretty much nothing else. Other than the occasional black white or red from Duplicolor. Anything with metallic in it comes from MCW. Steve
  10. Thanks Matt! Steve
  11. That's the sort of reaction I've had with it also. I'm not too worried about the humidity here this time of year, but I tried a little bit on a firewall tonight & it really didn't leave much of a shine. dried almost as dull as the paint after 3 coats. I'm thinking I ma try & use a few coats of it to build up a "polishing base" & the put on a final coat of Testors to shine it up. Steve
  12. Anybody use or have experience using Duplicolor clear? I've tried it in the past & had some "fogging" issues. Was wondering if any one uses it on a regular basis or if you've used it & had trouble with it. I'd like to use it if possible. I've had a few issues with Testors clears lately & am exploring my options. I really like the "fan spray" nozzle with the duplicolor paints. I wish Testors would use them. Steve
  13. You're right in my wheel house Tony! In the past 3 years I've built about 34 kits. 14 of them between '55 & '59. 16 were between '60 & '62. The remaining 4 were '63, '64, '65 & '67. I probably have another 20 kits or so that I'll be building in the next couple of years, nothing newer than '67. Personally, I'm barely interested in anything before '53, & after '72. As far as I'm concerned, those were the real "style" years! Good luck with your builds! Steve
  14. I know the Model King re-issue of the '70 Ford police car had some very deep steelies. Sorry, no pics. Steve
  15. Put a little color on this project tonight. MCW #6758 "Dark Turquoise Metallic". Also known as correct 1965 "Royal Turquoise". I was really surprised at how close this was to Duplicolor 88-00958 "Arcadia Green" which I used as a base. Almost exactly the same color, only a little heavier in the metal flake department. Steve
  16. Thanks Curt! I really appreciate that! Steve
  17. Sorry Peter, somehow when this whole "builds for 2014" melee got started, I managed to miss your thread. One of my absolute favorites! Great work on all of them my friend! Steve
  18. Very nice stuff Tommy! That '64 Plymouth really jumps out at me. Maybe it's the color. I guess I didn't realize a '64 Plymouth Belvedere could look so nice! Steve
  19. You do some great work Tulio! Your paint is always flawless!! Steve
  20. While I will admit, these "classics" are not really my cup of tea, you really do some fantastic work on them Harry!! Steve
  21. Well, regardless, you did a great job! Those multi-piece bodies just make me cringe a little! Steve
  22. Every thing looks so clean! I'm NOT an AMC guy, but that Ambassador is really sharp! ( for an Ambassador) Seriously, Great work! Steve
  23. Your choice of subject matter is right up my alley Richard, as you know! Everything looks great! Keep up the good work! Steve
  24. I still can't figure out which is better, the models or the photography! I think I'm doing something wrong! Steve
