  1. CustomSquads.com has them in resin. I know there are others but they escape me right now.
  2. They do have a catalog Dave, but it is faster and easier to order online. They do not have items pictured on their website, but rest assured the parts are as good as ones from a kit! There have been some posts here with pictures of some of their stuff. I think they have shut down the website instead of disabling the order feature, which is good and bad. I do have their 2013 printed catalog, PM me if there is something you are looking for specifically and I can check to see if it listed.
  3. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family Joe. Be strong for her and comfort her in the coming days/weeks.
  4. Welcome from down in the Queen City! Hope you made it to the big swap meet this past weekend! There is a show coming up in May down in Simpsonville SC, it would be about a 3 hour trip for you. Great show and the swap meet area is usually pretty good.
  5. Incredible! Very nice details and great work bringing everything together.
  6. I'd say you nailed it! That is a very nice, well detailed example of that truck.
  7. Welcome Tim from a fellow NC modeler! Those builds look fine to me but the important thing is that you have figured out how to enjoy the hobby! I too build for myself and would rather have 20 kits built to my satisfaction than to try and chase that one or two for a contest! You will enjoy it here, lots of great stuff to look at and learn!
  8. This has to be among my all time favorite trucks Jeff!
  9. I agree with your thinking Tom, except that I will be thinning out some of my collection as I don't envision building all 250+ kits I have. I am a couple years younger and plan on building for years to come, but I have decided that there are some kits that fit into theme builds and others will be parted out or traded off. My wife has been to a couple of shows with me and has an idea of what to sell them for if she should have to; I do know she has the sense to not drop them off at Goodwill or load up the garbage can with them.
  10. Would love to but family obligations prevent me from going. I have always found something at this swap meet and sometimes came home with much more than I planned on. Always a good show with great bargains, interested to see what others find!
  11. Zombie, by the Cranberries.
  12. Anybody who has had to look for a job recently can probably relate to my ongoing experience. As some people know, networking can lead to jobs not always posted to the public or in some cases, a job is created because a company values your skills enough to make sure you don't end up at the competition. I have been out of work for 11 weeks but within the first week, I had two solid leads on a new job, all through networking. Fast forward those 11 weeks and I am still waiting for the next step in the process after interviewing and being told "You are perfect for the job, we just have to work out a couple details and we should be set..." There is also the interview process with large corporations that defies logic. I spent nearly 3 hours between the phone interview and online testing only to be told 3 weeks later in a generic email that "I didn't fit their criteria". There is also the case where I interviewed with a large automotive manufacturer and my skills/experience match up perfectly (according to the recruiter) during the initial interview a month ago but they haven't moved on to the next round in the interview process. The stress of trying to find another job is really beginning to wear on me. I don't think the people responsible for hiring realize that the lack of communication on their end causes people to give up on their company and eventually find a job with a company that is better run.
  13. A wise man once told me some words of wisdom regarding resin parts: "If you find something and you want it, buy it before it's too late." Hopefully I will get a chance to place an order for a couple of things they have. If not, it's my fault for waiting too long and not heeding those words of wisdom! In any event, I wish Don and Carol a much deserved retirement. In a perfect world they would find a buyer for their business and it would continue on and I certainly hope for that.
  14. Just for the record, a true RS grille is different from what is being shown for the upcoming Nickey Camaro, which has an RS/SS grille.
  15. Here's your answer, plain and simple.
  16. Even though I already have several of the existing Revell '67 Camaro kits, I will be buying a couple more just for the reasons you pointed out above! As far as the wheels go, maybe one of the resin casters offer some better fitting tires or can cast some up!
  17. If the truck turns out to be in good enough condition to buy, I would suggest shipping it to Long Beach and use the time to see the USA in a rental car. You will be on a strict deadline to return home and it could be a problem if you are in a vehicle that keeps breaking down. It would also serve you well to give it a thorough once over and source any parts needed for it here in the USA before sending it back to Norway, even if those parts come from an auto parts store like NAPA or Auto Zone. Simple things like brake pads, water pump, etc that might be hard to find back home. The modern Dodge Hemi Pickup is a fun vehicle to drive and gas mileage is surprisingly good. I have rented both a 2wd and 4wd version within the last two years and they delivered in the low to mid 20's on the highway! They were much more comfortable than their 50 year old counterpart you are looking at and much more reliable. I would shop around but I have had the best luck with Enterprise Car Rental. Search the internet for your travel plans but be prepared to pay a little extra if you aren't returning the truck to the same location as you rented it from. Enjoy your trip and hope you do find the truck to be all that it is represented.
  18. It would have been nice if Revell had included the "SS" hood with this kit (although easily sourced from the earlier release) as the stinger hood was an option and wasn't on every Nickey Camaro. Several years ago I was able to pick up a 1967 Nickey Chevrolet catalog, interesting to see the prices from back then. A former co-worker bought an original, 30,000 mile Nickey 67 Camaro back in 1981 for $3,500, almost what they went for new! He enjoyed that car (talk about horsepower!) for about a year before trading it even up for a '66 Corvette Convertible 427/425, another fun car! I will pick this kit up for the pieces needed to replicate that car, although his had a cowl induction hood that the previous owner had installed.
  19. I struggle to clean up a regular styrene kit to look presentable and along comes a scratchbuilt brass piece of art! That is one awesome, well detailed replica!
  20. Looks great, like the weathering and the stance is just right. Question though: Is it just me or are the mirrors slightly oversized in this kit?
  21. Fully understand your situation Dave and can appreciate the way you have analyzed it. It seems you have more than a full plate and instead of getting a bigger plate, you have figured out how to manage what you have. Glad you won't leave the hobby entirely, I'd hate for that to happen. I hope you can get some building done and find some happiness along the way. Take care.
  22. That is coming along nicely. I too need to learn the art of making arched springs, thanks for the information on how to!
  23. Coming along nicely, should be a great looking truck when you are done!
  24. A couple of thoughts on this: 1. You didn't mention the glass, will that be included too? 2. The bed would be most welcome, even if it is a separate item. 3. The frame is almost necessary and though the instructions to build one being included is nice, why not offer the frame with the kit? 4. I can figure out the drivetrain, although it would be nice to have that too. I like the price point, but considering how much stuff would have to be sourced or scratchbuilt, it could be a deal breaker for folks who would be put off trying to find the additional parts. The Modelhaus kits run $90 + but at least they are more complete.
  25. I would be interested in the single cab W-300 kit and possibly a crew cab W-300. What are you suggesting for the donor kit? I would like to build a 4wd version of these trucks.
