Just ordered some items I needed now, but those tires are on my next order!
-
I will be ordering multiple sets of these tires with the 8 lug 4x4 wheels. These will look right at home once I get a couple of trucks ready for them!
-
I am in for at least two of these kits. This truck looks exactly like how I have envisioned building one for over 40 years! I'd buy multiples just to get those wheels LOL!

Continue to be impressed with the build Mark, the details really make this seem like we are looking at your real car.

Very nice, your teacher did a great job and obviously you paid attention!
-
That is fantastic looking! Just remember to be patient and take your time, you have a great start and can really make this look nice.

That's the only issue missing from my collection, do you think Gregg will have back issues for sale soon?

I used to think that I would never get out of Northern Illinois as my family and in-laws were all there (minus one or two). About 11 years ago I was approached by my employer to relocate and never thought my wife would embrace the idea but she did! We settled in Charlotte and have never regretted it. We don't miss the bitterly cold winters, the cold spring and fall seasons and certainly not the corruption and high taxes! Once we moved here, other family members followed and now I have more family in this area than I do in Illinois! The thing you want to ask yourself Harry is what will you do once you retire? Can you relocate your business somewhere else and continue doing what you have been or would you need to go to work for someone? How close to your kids do you want to be (you stated your youngest wants you nearby)? If you decide to move, I can honestly say that there is a ton of stuff you THINK you need to take with, while the reality is you DON'T need to! In many cases it is cheaper to sell something and replace it once you get settled than to pay for it to be moved, trust me I know! We get the taste of all four seasons here in Charlotte, and the winters tend to be fairly mild and relatively snow free (compared to what you have dealt with!) and if we want snow, it's a couple of hours to the mountains and if we want sand, it's a couple of hours to the ocean! I can be in Daytona Beach in 6 hours by car and Key West in 2 by plane! While you were dealing with snow and temps in the 30's today, I worked up a sweat mowing the lawn and trimming bushes in the 70's here!

Paint to Match GM Elkhart Blue

Another source for factory correct colors is MCW. You can check with them and get what you need to airbrush the model. -
60 Ford F100 shortbed
mikemodeler replied to my80malibu's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The Modelhaus catalog shows a '60 shortbed styleside resin kit. I would think it is still available but won't know for sure until they re-open. -
Danica Patrick might agree with you...

Geez, if you aren't happy with how that came out, I'd say you need a vision test! That is very nicely detailed and looks great from where I am sitting. Love that color and the painted wheels to match!

78 F-350
mikemodeler replied to zaina's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I am liking those wheels and tires, have to look into getting some. I sure wish Moebius decides to take on the 73-79 F series trucks soon, they have them half developed already! Just looking at that side shot and the long wheelbase makes me cringe. -
did an engine swap with Vince (vintagedragcrazy) and it went smoothly, will be trading again!

A new trend selling kit parts?
mikemodeler replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
To take a complete kit and part it out and (hopefully) yielding more money than a complete kit would, is acceptable. Do I find it frustrating? Sure, can't say I haven't been tempted to do the same but I don't have the time and patience to undertake such a project. As has been stated, if you need the part, then the practice fulfills a need within the hobby. -
Looking great!

Moebius 67-72 Ford Pick-up news
mikemodeler replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I wonder if that means the yet to be released but obvious 1968 model will be the long awaited 4wd version? If so, which engine and bed configuration will it be? -
Meng F-350 Bumpers
mikemodeler replied to mdlbldrmatt135's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Matt, I should be able to get to the stash and dig those bumpers out tonight or tomorrow. Of the two samples you have above, I am leaning towards the Plate bumpers. Mike -
Yup, and if you want to build a small block SS/RS, you have to rob a third kit for the engine.

Tamiya Spray Lacquers
mikemodeler replied to mikemodeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wasn't as concerned about the clear as much as some of the colors. Glad to hear that this is just a temporary thing Brett! -
Have you contacted the resin company? Something that is obviously that far off and is basically unusable should be brought to their attention. You might be able to make your own hood using styrene and the kit hood, have you considered that?

mikemodeler replied to hpiguy's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Check out Scenes Unlimited, Danny has a bunch of wheels and tires that you could use, depending on your tastes! Also, Fireball has some new wheels and tires that might be what you are looking for. -
Tamiya Spray Lacquers
mikemodeler replied to mikemodeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
doing some searching around last night and found that multiple websites had various colors "out of stock" and it looked like some of them were because of relabeling. Looks like we can thank the great state of California.
