Kit snow plow Temco sold

Incredible scratchbuilding, watching this one! -
Seems like the flood damaged cars would be the easiest to fix, albeit a complete teardown and rebuild. I would think much could be salvaged from those cars. I have a friend who has a 71 Corvette that he bought back from the insurance company when his house had a minor fire in the garage. He took the car to D&M Corvette in Downers Grove IL and they restored the car back to it's former glory and he was able to get a few other things fixed in the process. Looking at some of those cars and knowing what they can go for, I doubt they end up in the junk pile, I am sure there is a person out there who is willing to rebuild them.

I have a problem...

Here I thought I was alone with this issue! -
People must hate waiting...

Ordered mine this morning from Tower Hobbies, they estimate I will have it by next Tuesday. Added a can of spray paint to get the order total over $25 and I got free shipping! Total order was under $30 for kit and paint, a better bargain than that eBay! -
Thanks for the heads up, just ordered mine. Spent enough money to get free shipping! Update- Ordered before noon on a Thursday and received notification overnight that I should receive my order on Monday. Pretty darn fast service from central Illinois to Charlotte if I say so myself!

If that Datsun Monster truck is indeed the flip front end, then I will pass. I would LOVE to see that 1975 kit get re-issued, built that years ago and would appreciate having another chance to build a couple of them.

very nice and well detailed. the paint is a nice change of pace and overall the model is spot on!

Emma Samms, one of the reasons I watched that show as a teenager! Hubba Hubba! She replaced Pamela Sue Martin, can't remember how they explained the accent.

Harry, I doubt anyone on here would disagree with your statement; however, there are enough attorneys out there that will argue otherwise. And, unfortunately, the railroads will settle with the families instead of fighting it in court, despite probably finding at least one sensible juror who shares your sentiment. For the same reason McDonalds had to put warning labels on their coffee cups, you can't assume EVERYONE has common sense!

Ollie's strike again
mikemodeler replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Went back to the one in Matthews NC today. They had expanded to 2 aisle end cap displays and one was mostly Lindberg models, with a TON of F150s and a few Color Me Gones. The rest of the Lindberg kits were space and airplane, IIRC. The other end cap had a bunch of Revell SSRs and Monogram Corvettes and Trans Ams. Didn't see anything I could use for parts or wanted to build so I went out empty handed. -
Barnes & Noble and MCM

I was at the B&N in South Charlotte today and picked up issue # 200, they had 2 on the shelf. Nice to see it available in a book store as the only hobby shop left around is a 30 minute one way drive. I'll probably subscribe again now that I have a job. Nice issue by the way, loved the article on the Plymouths and the Ford F350. -
And you haven't even factored in the show in Simpsonville SC next month! LOL! I'm in for one of the Datsun trucks. Not sure what it is about the mini-trucks but they have been showing up in my stash lately!

A set of white or gray rally stripes would really break up that solid black paint. If you could find a set of houndstooth decals for the seats that would help too. Paint looks shiny, should be even better after polishing!

That last shot with the monster motor looks great! What happened to the tailgate, did a tree fall on it?

Organizing spare parts
mikemodeler replied to MrBuick's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
All of the above and I am still not organized! I should really stop all building and get everything labeled and orderly so I can actually get more done! Great ideas from all and I think I have some shopping in my future. I do remember Big Lots having a nice selection of plastic totes and containers, will have to check them out. -
62' or 63' Chev C60
mikemodeler replied to hedotwo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Modelhaus (which is currently not accepting any orders) has a 64-66 2 ton cab resin kit that will build up into the C50 truck. There are minor differences between the 62/63 and 64-66, mostly grille if I remember correctly. You can also modify a cab from one of the recent Revell 64-66 series pickups into a C50 cab, a quick search on the web will show what is different between a standard pickup cab and a C50, and sourcing a suitable frame will depend on what you are trying to build. -
As P.T. Barnum liked to say....."There's a sucker born every minute!" Tower Hobbies has it listed for $21.95 and Modelroundup has it for $22.90, so given the above eBay price, once could get at least three kits for the same price.

Very true Bill, and thank you for pointing out to Ed the possibilities based on existing tooling. I would imagine that the cost today to create a kit has to be incredible so any new kit has to have multiple versions to be considered. Yes, sales potential has to be there too, but as we have seen with the recent Moebius F 100 pickups, they are able to deliver a bunch of kits with just a few changes. Sure hope they can deliver us some new stuff because based on the list you showed, I will be buying some more kits!

old worn out 1955 Ford Wrecker

or be patient and wait a bit longer and get one from one of the online retailers in another week or two for half that!
-
That is encouraging to see and hear Bill and hopefully we will see some new kits from that list in the coming years. I would like to think that they will consider some of the subjects listed even though they may have been kitted in the past by a different company based on sales potential and ability to share tooling costs.

welcome Rick, glad you are able to get back to the hobby!

It is a sad day in the music world when someone like Prince passes away as he was a brilliant musician and incredible talent. The fact that he was very private and reclusive added to his legacy and made his death harder to believe. It has been reported by TMZ that he was treated last week for a drug overdose while flying back to Minnesota from Atlanta, and that is something I find very surprising as he was reported to be fanatical about his health. Close friends have stated that he eat a mostly vegan diet and worked out, something that no doubt allowed him to be the showman he was. We seem to lose great artists every year, but with Glen Frey, David Bowie and Prince all passing in the last 6 months, there went a big part of musical life and makes me appreciate their music that much more.
