To Greg's original post, my buying decisions back in the '70's were predicated on what was on the shelf at stores. The good news was back then one could find kits almost everywhere, unlike today. And as others have mentioned, despite cheap prices for kits, being a young kid didn't translate into having a lot of money for models. I mowed grass and raked leaves, shoveled snow and whatever else I could do to make money for a kit. Today, with magazines, internet, shows and more disposable income, I have become a more informed buyer, and to my wife's dismay, a bigger hoarder!
