  1. Depends on what you are looking for. Not sure how long you were gone from the hobby but the price of kits has risen over the last 10 years considerably. If you shop around, you can find deals and ways to save money on kits. 1. Hobby Lobby has a 40% off coupon that helps bring the cost of a kit down. There are stores in Kannapolis and Salisbury. 2. Local hobby shows and swap meets are a good way to find kits at good prices, along with some older out of production kits. There is a great show coming up in August in Clemmons NC that will have a great variety of kits for sale along with some nice models on display. 3.Internet sellers. Places like Modelroundup, Tower Hobbies, Megahobby, and others have sales and special offers that can get you models and supplies delivered to your door. eBay is another avenue, just be careful to not get caught up in a bidding war and pay too much for a kit. 4.Trading with forum members here. If you have something someone else is looking for, you can make a trade and get rid of a kit and get one you want! Searching around at thrift shops and yard sales is also another way to find bargains.
  2. Very shiny! That black paint looks great and the rest of the model is well detailed.
  3. Also check to see if there are any mold lines in the body before you put color on it, you will be glad you did! Not familiar with that kit and where the body lines might be, but a close inspection should show them. Welcome back to the hobby and enjoy. As you have found out, there are some helpful people here and don't be afraid to ask questions, that's what we are here for!
  4. There is a show at that location, but it is usually in February. That is a great show if you are looking for kits or parts as that is all they have. Bring lots of money when you go to that show, you will need it!
  5. nice and clean! Looks great, way to use the parts box!
  6. Thanks Aaron, I did get them confused. And you are correct about the shipping. I usually buy several at a time to cushion the blow on shipping costs or at least find additional items (paint, glue, etc) to help with the cost.
  7. Harry, Nice builds! Do you airbrush yours or hand brush it on? I did a model a couple of years ago with Future and hand brushed it on only to see it cracking a week later. Wasn't sure if it was due to the application process or some other factor.
  8. Is that a glue kit or snap kit? If you are looking for Japanese kits, Hobbylinc is the place to go. If you are looking for domestic kits, there are plenty of sources here in the states to find what you want at a good price.
  9. Stan, August 20th, Clemmons NC 9th annual CKM Summer Classic ckminfo@carolinakustommodelers.com July 9th, Lexington SC 7th annual SCMA Model Contest 432 Ball Park Rd, Lexington SC November 12, Smyrna GA 20th annual ACME Southern Nats NNL Smyrna Community Center, Smyrna GA I highly suggest you try to attend all of these as you will get to see some really nice models, meet some great people who share information about their builds and they all have a nice vendor area to pick up some hard to find kits, new releases, parts and resin stuff. PM me if you have any questions. MIke
  10. Thanks for sharing Tom, you were busy all day snapping pictures that I didn't want to interrupt you ! Great show as always and had a good time talking with attendees and selling off more of the stash. Wife told me I had to bring some of my builds next year, just might have to actually finish something!
  11. Check with BNL resins, they have a lot of 4wd stuff.
  12. You missed a good one today in Greenville SC (Simpsonville). There will be one in July and August in the Carolinas, I will dig out the information and get it to you. These shows have nice vendor areas and some really nice models on display, along with a great bunch of modelers to talk to!
  13. Very nice! Incredible scratch building skills displayed there!
  14. I think I got more boxes of models loaded into the Chevy Cruze rental car for tomorrow's SCMA show in Simpsonville this year than I was able to stuff in my old Nissan Rogue last year! So much for SUVs and alleged space! Looking forward to seeing some old friends tomorrow and more importantly, thinning out the stash and replenishing the savings account!
  15. It's sad really. I get that we all want to think we are half our age once we hit our 40's but reality has to set in! It's a shame that some beautiful women have wrecked their physical beauty with the wonders of modern medicine.
  16. Pamela Anderson
  17. It's called aging, all people who have the luxury of growing older suffer from it, some do better than others! Too many beautiful actresses feel pressured to retain that youthful look and unfortunately the results vary.
  18. Saw them in concert mid-80's as their farewell tour, great show, love the music.
  19. I have gone back and forth over whether or not to place an order. I have wanted their Shasta travel trailer and one of the Dodge pickups, but have to think long and hard before I drop $180 on two resin kits. Not that they aren't worth it, but $180 isn't as easy to come by for me as it was in the past. Besides, I have about 9 or 10 resin kits already that have to be built and adding to the pile is not smart. I will check and see if there is any additional resin pieces I may want that would be more reasonable for my budget. I am glad to say I have been a customer of Don and Carol for nearly 20 years and wish them well in their much deserved and well earned retirement.
  20. This one is driving me nuts! I know I should know it but am drawing a blank!
  21. Nice work as always and great job stretching the bed and cab. A quick question though......Have you ever built a 4wd model at STOCK height? LOL !
  22. I don't recall seeing that Gerry, and I would be all over it if I had. I know there are some differences between the 67 and 68-72 years, but I was under the impression that the old AMT/MPC kit could be modified to work?
  23. Likewise Tom! Always enjoy this show and the wife likes the fact that we come home with fewer models and more money!
  24. I could be wrong, but I think it is the same thing Harry. I'll check a couple of my automotive forums and let you know.
