  1. uh, what he said ^^^ ! If it gets our hobby more exposure and draws some people back into the hobby or for the first time, I see it as a win-win. Would I have West Coast Customs build me a car? Probably not. Are they craftsmen in custom car building? Yes, just not my cup of tea. This much is true- At least Revell is trying AND bringing new subjects to market.
  2. very nice and super clean. Great details and an overall awesome job on something not available in kit form.
  3. Had a phone interview yesterday that went really well, could be the next job! They briefly touched on salary and I could finally get a raise! The recruiter and I discussed my previous job and the various activities involved and he was surprised that as a sales rep the number of non-selling projects I was expected to do and he asked me point blank "When did you have time to sell?" To Bill's point above, this previous employer didn't care, I was labor to them and whether I was "selling" or not was immaterial, it was all about getting their projects done and agenda complete. One thing I have noticed is that companies are hiring and looking for talented people and if you are qualified, you should be able to find a good job. I do feel for you self-employed guys and the health insurance costs, using Cobra to continue my family benefits will be $1,000 per month.
  4. haven't watched GMG in a year, I feel the "drama" is made for TV and Richard is an egomaniac. I think he has gone Hollywood much like the guys at Orange County Choppers did and it all went to their heads. I agree that Bitchin Rides seems to be more realistic and the cars seem to be engineered to perform and are not cartoon like. Not sure why a perfectly good, numbers matching Corvette had to sacrificed for the build, but I am sure someone had their reasons.
  5. The wheels in the Jeep kit you reference Chuck could probably be modified to represent the lockout hubs if necessary. Hopefully Fireball will have some bias ply 4wd tires soon, along with wheels, as he hinted as much when the subject was brought up last month.
  6. If you aren't hung up on a full detailed chassis and engine for the truck, Brian's suggestion above would be the best way to go. The snap kit will build much faster and easier than the resin (not to mention cheaper!) and those kits can still be found relatively cheap. Search eBay, they can be found as promos as well as unassembled kits and look spot on. If the resin kit is your decision, then depending on what is included for the chassis leaves you with some choices to make. If you are in need of suspension and a drivetrain, the easiest solution is to look for a '90 SS454 AMT pickup kit. It will have the engine and chassis pieces you need. If you need dually wheels and tires, go Scenes Unlimited and pick a set, they are correct for the truck and Danny is a great guy to deal with.
  7. very nice and the detail work is outstanding! The BMF is very well done.
  8. The sale is over, now they are priced at $54. Still a good deal, but not as nice as $45!
  9. Thanks Ray, I think I will be okay, have a couple of great leads and friends in the right places so I have my fingers crossed!
  10. I lost my job last week, after nearly 8 years at the company. I won't (and can't legally) go into the details but can say that no matter how hard you work, either for yourself or a company, sometimes things are beyond your control. To Tom's original point, I hadn't had a raise in base pay since 2011. I was lucky that I was a sales rep that also had a bonus program and due to some hard work and luck, I was able to offset the lack of raises with some nice bonuses. That didn't change the psychological effect of not getting a raise had on me, but it did motivate me to be the best I could be and I did earn several annual awards for my sales excellence. Looking back, I am grateful that I worked hard and earned that money as I have had countless phone calls from peers expressing disbelief that a top sales achiever like myself could be expendable and how they feared for their own job. I learned at a young age that life isn't fair and complaining about it doesn't change a thing. My father toyed with the idea of starting his own business a couple of times and in the end I think he was glad he didn't because he was able to retire early (due to a nice pension) and enjoy retirement for over 20 years before his health began to fail. He had several friends who were self-employed and worked 5-10 more years than he did and they didn't have the same retirement income or time to enjoy it. Everyone has a different situation and therefore a different path to follow. Some are better suited to working for themselves while others prefer the security of a steady paycheck and known benefit. I have considered doing "my own thing" and my wife is encouraging it, but given our position in life (a kid ready to go to college) and being about 15 years away from retiring ourselves (HOPEFULLY!), I am not wanting to risk it all at this late stage in life. Call me chicken, but I am confident I will be employed in the next 30 days and in the comfort of a large company with a nice benefit package!
  11. definitely different! Should be a cool setup when you are done!
  12. I like it! Nice job on the paint and the use of the Ferrari components makes it a real sleeper!
  13. I am sure your Uncle will treasure this gift. Nice start and the paint looks great!
  14. that is one mighty fine looking truck, so anxious to see it all done!
  15. Yes it is Jonathan! I remember you tipping me off to the Chinese wholesaler who had them long before anyone in the US! Wrong time of the year for me to buy another one or two, but dang the price is so right!
  16. Squadron is running a sale on Meng Models. I just checked and the 1/25 F250 is on sale for $45.00 ! That is a steal, if I didn't already have a couple of them I would buy another one or two at that price!
  17. Wow, those Revell snappers end up being dirt cheap! That 63 Vette and 34 Ford have some nice wheels and tires that can be used on other kits as does that 57 Chevy!!
  18. It certainly makes it less ugly! I wouldn't turn it away if it was given to me.
  19. Thanks for the years of enjoyment Harry. I was one of the ones who searched the old fashioned (meaning the way you intended) way to find the answers. You are right, part of the fun was learning about many different types of vehicles along the way.
  20. Nice work on that Vette! Clean build and well detailed.
  21. And if past experience is any indication of future success, we will have some pretty awesome stuff in 2016!
  22. Those Blazers are still available at Hobby Lobby. This week they have kits for 25% off, otherwise if you wait you can use their 40% off coupon next week.
  23. I noticed that Tower Hobbies has them listed as "temporarily unavailable", so I wonder if they are going through their inventory and checking them?
  24. I'd say you pretty much nailed it on this one! Very nice, well detailed and clean build.
  25. MCW has a resin copy of the engine that is found in the Trumpter Nova.
