  1. Sorry to break this to you Tom, but if you use the search feature on this forum you will see several topics of where people have had difficulties dealing with Perry's Resin. If someone wants to place an order, I would be interested in hearing how that experience goes, as it would back up Tom's claim that a good business name is being tarnished if all goes well.
  2. Thanks for the explanation Tom, but there have been members here who placed orders and either didn't get them or it took many months for the product to arrive. You mentioned that you have several of his kits, ALL BOUGHT IN PERSON AT SHOWS, which is quite different than placing an order via website. The resin business is a funny one, some companies come and go like the seasons and others hang around for a long time. You mention The Modelhaus and R and M of Maryland and I would say those companies have earned their excellent reputation because of the way they conduct business and I have seen some newer resin casters trying to emulate them. If Randy is truly focused on his brick and mortar store and cannot run his website and resin casting company parallel to the hobby shop, then he should take them down and avoid all of the confusion. And to clarify, I have wanted to buy some things from Perry's, but have stayed away from them as I read other's stories about their dealings.
  3. Those are very nice, great color choices and cleanly built!
  4. Nice job on those two. I remember seeing a '74 when they first came out and thought "There's no mistaking that as a Z-28 with those stripes!"
  5. There was a kit of the '73 issued back in '73, might be a little pricey to find today. AMT has a 70 1/2 Camaro kit that is more readily available and can probably pass as the car your wife had. I think if you look in the trading post section there are a couple up for trade, might be able to get one cheap. The AMT kits build up okay, just avoid some of the earlier issues as they had some warped bodies.
  6. I'm not a tax attorney nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I think Nick was trying to say that if a foreign company is physically in the United States, the IRS will try to ensure they collect and pay taxes on their sales. Perry's Resin probably avoided the show because of the number of irate customers, with the taxes being a secondary reason.
  7. Happy Birthday Tom, hope you had a great day!
  8. Most auto parts stores have a paint section and I know NAPA has a can of Dupli Color in Gloss, Semi Gloss and Flat Black Lacquer. Pretty reasonable, about $5-6 a can and will last awhile.
  9. Had the day off yesterday and I spend a couple of hours watching TV and coverage of the events. In watching MSNBC, they replayed The Today Show from 9/11/01 and it was chilling to re-live that again. Fox News had coverage of the moments of silence as well as the reading of the names. Still hard to watch and fathom 14 years later. My daughter and her Marine Corps JROTC unit had the distinction of serving as the color guard at a memorial event here in Charlotte yesterday. She and her fellow cadets weren't even school age at the time of the attack but they were fully aware of what happened that day, something her JROTC instructors have made sure they all understand. The lives lost that day and since, should serve as a reminder that freedom isn't free.
  10. Turn out was not as great as expected, the weather was crappy so you would think there would be some more people there. Saw some familiar faces, sold some kits and I might be closer to getting into the slot car racing hobby!
  11. The car is loaded up, 7 large boxes of kits to sell including some OOP kits that once upon a time I thought I would build but hopefully they find a new home tomorrow! See ya tomorrow!
  12. That is a nice looking truck! Great colors and well detailed.
  13. The sun and the moon have come together and I will be attending this show, hoping to unload some model kits! Hope to see some forum members there, bring your lunch money, I need to clean out some excess kits!
  14. Watched this show as child and never missed an episode. A few years ago, there was a channel here in Charlotte that showed EVERY episode from the beginning to the end and I watched them with my kids and they thought it was funny. Martin Milner married a woman from the town I grew up in and every once in awhile they would come back to town and when they did, the newspaper made sure to let us know Marty was in town! RIP, thanks for the memories.
  15. Looks nice. I need to find one of these, I like this bodystyle.
  16. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
  17. Very nice WIPs you have going there, I really like the Suburban. Should be another nice one when you have it done.
  18. Check out Scenes Unlimited, Danny has a great selection of wheels and tires. Great product, fast service and I am sure you will find what you are looking for.
  19. It was intended to state that what one wants to build for themselves is fine with me as they obviously didn't take the safe route and use off the shelf parts for their car. I was not trying to hide or refrain from offending someone, just merely admiring most aspects of the build.
  20. Missed it, but happy belated birthday to "the old man" ! Met him at a show about 4-5 years ago, a great guy and convinced me I needed his two DVDs to be a better modeler!
  21. Nice job mark, looks like Professor Chuck Most has influenced another member! LOL ! Nice details and way to make stuff from what most of us scrap.
  22. Not my cup of tea, I would rather have the Chevelle next to it, but I admire someone's attention to detail and desire to create their hot rod.
  23. Thank you Chuck, I think this sums it up. Please keep a copy of this for the next time this topic comes up (and you know it will).
  24. Yeah, that sounds logical, but try explaining that to someone who says "I remember when a headlamp was $6!". It truly is a changing world out there in the auto repair business. We don't have to do yearly tune ups anymore but when the car won't run, people forget that part and are in shock over the high $$ it might cost to replace sensors or coils. Try explaining to someone who buys a new car that requires synthetic oil that their oil change is now $80 or more because the filter is no longer $2.99 and 6 quarts of oil is $60. Funny how the salesman didn't tell them that when they signed the papers!
