I'm not here for your entertainment You don't want to really mess with me tonight

That is one nice looking Chevelle! Always loved this model year but never built the kit as I was disappointed in how it came from AMT. You did it justice and the decals for head and tail lights was brilliant!

empty shelves, light inventory
mikemodeler replied to 62rebel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You can blame me Curt, I was in there at the beginning of the week and bagged 3 clearance kits! Yep, it is that time of year at Hobby Lobby. I have come across some bargains and have been taking advantage of clearance kits. I have added 5 of the Revell 63 Convertible snap kits, love those wheels and that kit looks great when done, it's a quick build and perfect slump buster. I also scored a couple of AMT 66 Grumpy Novas- great selection of parts in that kit! I have been surprised at what has been on clearance, some Foose kits, musclecars and drag cars. -
looking beautiful. love it!

I have scooped up some kits that have been clearance priced at Hobby Lobby- Grumpy's Nova and the Revell '63 Corvette convertibles.I had a couple of old gift cards to use up and couldn't resist as technically they didn't cost me any "real" money! LOL. I am thinking that Moebius Satellite could be on the radar, although I was supposed to be thinning the herd, not adding to it!

You could be dehydrated too Charlie, especially this time of year with the heat. I always drink several glasses of water in the evening before bed to avoid such problems. Which one Nick? A friend of mine posted some pics on Facebook from the Market Square show in Lake Forest.

Looks like someone stopped by Pep Boys and put new shiny mirrors on that old beat up truck! Nice job on the weathering and details. -
Next up from Moebius ?
mikemodeler replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They would be money ahead if they focused on something in the light truck arena. Despite all the issues with the F100s, I would bet that they have been great sellers and we will see additional versions soon. If the frame and drivetrain in the current Moebius Ford trucks is similar to that of later model 70's Fords, then why not tool up new bodies and bring us more options? I would think they know that whatever they decide, it has to be a seller in order to justify it. -
Doesn't exist yet in scale, would be a nice addition if we had a late model truck to put it in.

Well said and my sentiments exactly. Disappointed that there are a couple of errors? Yes, but I will take the kit and build it regardless.

The kit with the black stock looking truck on it is a stock only. It was also released with a personal watercraft and as you mentioned, the amigo pack. There was a custom version , not sure if it had the parts to build it stock.

That looks like an old airport ramp service truck Chuck, could be an idea for a build!

1953 Ford F-250

You will soon have a whole fleet of effies to showcase your talent Chuck! I am sure you will do this one justice, much like the others you have posted here. -
Happy Birthday Tom!

One of the benefits of this forum...

That was very nice and thoughtful of Greg, and it doesn't surprise me. Some may know that he is a resin caster and he mentioned that he cast a '67 Camaro convertible body. I inquired and he sent me a body, and a few extra pieces to go with it, totally unsolicited. Yep, we have a lot of good guys here, many of them remain anonymous, and they make up for the clowns that can drive ya nuts. -
Heard about that too and am glad that I moved away from the area 10 years ago, otherwise I would probably have already had open heart surgery! I always stop at Portillo's when I am back in Chicago and I have a few friends who love to send me pictures of a Chicago dog or their delish Beef Sammich!

Well, like others, I have been told I have too many. Earlier this year I went to a show and brought the wife along and we sold off somewhere around 50 models. I still have about 50 I plan to sell and that would leave me about 100 still to build. If I could just get time at the bench, I would be able to finish about 25 WIPs and it would make a huge difference in my desire to build more!

Check with MCW, I believe he still has one available. I bought one a couple of years ago at a show and it was a nice clean casting. IIRC it uses the Trumpeter '63 Nova as the donor kit.

1/25 Revell Ford Del Rio Ranch Wagon 2'n'1
mikemodeler replied to Matt T.'s topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not to add fuel to any arguments as I am just stating what has been mentioned before regarding how a new kit is developed: The accuracy of the kit has a lot to do with the 1:1 subject matter chosen for measuring. If the owner of the vehicle has changed a few things from when the car rolled off the assembly line some 58 years ago, the researcher may not know that at the time pictures and measurements are taken. Furthermore, the researcher may not have access to factory manuals or sales brochures that would help identify the inaccuracies and one must keep in mind that sales brochures have sometimes had incorrect information in them. This sounds like a great kit and based on the positive comments, I will be ordering one soon.
